xoxoCome, gather 'round so I can tell you how magic came into our world.

xoxoIt was maybe sixty years ago now that the expedition to find Atlantis came into fruition, seventy explorers banding together to find the fabled lost city. It took three years, four months and twenty one days to find it, but when they did come upon the underwater city, the sight took their breath away. When they returned home a month later, they brought with them books, machines, artifacts, and preserved skeletons of the villagers that had died there. One of the artifacts they brought back was called 'The Gifter' by one of the scientists who assisted on the journey.

xoxo'The Gifter' had been buried beneath rubble and dirt, but was miraculously preserved by a bubble of sorts. When human hands touched it, the bubble disintegrated and seemed to send out a wave across the Earth. No one realized at the time that this was what brought magic back into the world. There had been a time when magic was common, the every day person using it for their needs to do whatever they wished. And then, as the practice of magic began to dwindle, so too did the belief and then there was nothing. Now, as the wave rippled through mankind, it unleashed the magic that had been laying dormant for so long.

xoxoToday, there are three recognized types of magic: elemental, blood, and spirit. Not all people have the ability to wield magic, not all magic users have the same type of magic, and no one has been able to use more than one particular type. Many do not discover their abilities until late adulthood, some lucky ones discovering their powers when they're children and learning how to control it at a young age.



xoxoElemental magic is the most common of types, ranging from basic to complex sorts. The most basic would be the four elements we know today: earth, air, fire and water. The more complex would be the ones that stem from these: ice, electricity, steel, light, darkness, sound, etc. Dedicating yourself to the power that manifests itself within you can lead to mastering the complex ones. One example would be mastering the power of earth and then being able to use clay and steel to create a creature to help you with tasks. This particular magic is ruled and governed by emotions, so if one were capable of using fire and was a relatively angry person, they would be a deadly force that may lead to self destruction. If one were calm and resilient and capable of using earth, they could grow gardens and forests to help the planet.

xoxoSpirit is the hardest to come across and the hardest to master. This is one particular one that few are gifted with, and fewer that have mastered it completely. Spirit encompasses the life of humans, animals, and nature itself; it is usually used for healing the sick and injured, but takes a toll on the user more so than any other magic. When a Spirit users time is up, they become an angel of sorts, able to use their abilities one last time before they pass on. Common types of Spirit abilities would be healing, astral travel (the ability to leave one's body behind while their spirit travels elsewhere at the command of the user, at this time the body is vulnerable), Repositioning (creating a mirror image of the user to further enhance their abilities in healing, traveling, etc.). Spirit magic is ruled and governed by the intent of the wielder, not by emotion like Elemental; the user has to want to heal the recipient, has to intentionally force the magic out of them to use their ability, which may result in exhaustion, dizziness, nausea, headache, vomiting and vertigo.

xoxoBlood is the most dangerous one to come across, and the most lethal with which to be gifted. People who are known to possess this ability are usually watched closely by the government because of incidents that have happened with this particular type of magic. Twenty years ago, a young man in Japan was gifted with this magic and learned that he can become more powerful by 'marking' other magic users and drawing upon their energies. By marking them, they became sick and wherever he touched them their body would begin to decay. Quickly, the shortest reported time span was twelve hours, the recipient of the mark lost their sanity and began to hear voices calling to them to return to the one who marked them. Eventually, as the twelve he marked lost their sanity and returned to him, he sacrificed all of them to build his power, but even it was too overwhelming and he lost his life in the throes of magic. The death of thirteen made this type of magic closely monitored lest someone decide to repeat the actions. Blood magic is ruled and governed by intent, much like Spirit, and is considered to be 'evil', regardless of the users personality or mindset.

xoxoAnd now, to present day. Elemental magic is still the most common, with a few Spirit wielders popping up here and there, and only reports of Blood wielders. The Gifter sits safe behind glass in the most heavily guarded museum in London, England. But how long will it remain safe when a dark and ancient entity has heard that possessing the vase like artifact will increase one's powers? Who will stand against this being that is beginning to unleash an evil unlike anything seen before? Will Earth ever be the same?
