LOUISE BLUMENTHAL
Dame Louise Blumenthal silently followed her princess's lead, from classically being smuggled into the country by straw carriage - a few sticks of which she no doubt still had in her vest - to the very gates of the demon king's castle.
She knew the Princess Clara was determined from the very beginning to see this through, but while Louise would follow her to the ends of the earth, the knight was just as determined to ensure that the princess live to return to her parents safely, regardless of what would happen within the next few hours.
At the princess's question, Louise smiled and reassuringly gripped her hand before laying it on her own sword and continuing to follow her as they entered the castle. As they progressed deeper and deeper within the caste, however, the lack of guards began to weigh heavily on Louise's mind. Surely the demons couldn't be this confident... But as the doors to the throne room came into view, Louise knew they had come too far - there was no convincing the princess to turn back now. So when the princess repeated her earlier question, Louise simply drew her sword and offered her smile once again.
"Of course, your highness." And with that, they pushed through the doors together, Louise stepping in front and to the left of the princess as she called out her warning.
Candles lit the walls and yet darkness still clogged the room, as if the light from the candles were pushed back to a distance to the point that where the throne stood bathed in shadow, with only a darker silhouette hinting at a figure sitting upon the throne. Silence rang out for a few short moments after the princess's call before a chuckle broke out, melodic and low at first, before rising into full blown laughter.
