As you may know in the Staff update they are reminding us what we can post as a joke or not a joke so my question is to you all what are your thoughts about this? For me I'm a bit confused why well a few years back I almost got banned for making fun on a troll thread and was wondering if that is ivolved with this or not. If so then I know to stay away from troll threads or I will lose my account again.

i think gaia's covering their bases because they dont want a bunch of tryhard teenagers getting into legal trouble over threats of violence

which is for the best imo, as those jokes arent even funny. next up: when will gaia start banning people i personally dont find funny? vote me for president of gaia, and i will rule with an iron fist stressed

I have a feeling it might be linked to the "free speech" debacle on Reddit that's going on right now.

Or whatever. The stuff listed is stuff any decent human being knows that you shouldn't be making jokes about anyway.

As long as I can make jokes about shoving a dozen donuts up my a**, nothing of value was lost.

The staff didn't told me anything new, I thought it was common sense to not make jokes on such delicate and sensitive topics.

I was surprised they didn't mentioned racist jokes, now someone might think they are save and get in trouble later.

Well, I got insta permabanned over making a joke once that the staff should burn down their own office after introducing gold generators (because, you know, killing Gaia, blah blah) - after having a clean account record forever.
How the staff burning down their own office fell under any of the rules listed there, I still don't understand. Even two omnimods told me to appeal the ban because it seemed fishy. But my ticket was dismissed. Ah well...

A bunch of otherwise "clean" accounts from a lot of angry users got insta'd that week when Flynn's Booty (?) went overboard.
So yeah kids, don't even joke about the Gaia staff wrecking their own business wink

I think this PSA was sent out because flash spaces like Rally were a nightmare. There are a lot of jokes/insults that just push the line, and apparently enough people were doing it that a PSA was necessary.

Sounds fairly reasonable, and Idk, I'm only serious half the time about anything Gaia related; So far it hasn't gotten me into trouble with the law... or at least it seems that way from the topic titles, i hate to bother even clicking on them.

But yes someone actually posted nekkid gifs at least twice. i reported them of course but like wtf. people there are insane.

Everyone who trolls or thinks jokes about unfunny things are funny or posts disgusting content can leave. Good riddance.

Well a lot of those jokes fall under trollling, so it should have been common sense to not do it in the first place. emotion_eyebrow
I think it's aimed at forums like the CB and GD where some people treat it like a free for all.
I've seen a lot of crap go down in the GD, part of the reason why I hate going in that forum.

You should stay away from troll threads and just report them to begin with anyway. Posting in threads that are off topic/spam/troll threads/etc. is at best still spamming and continues to bump the thread up and increase its exposure.

This is all common knowledge on ANY site that could have minors on it. You say this stuff and you're banned. If people don't know this by now, they deserve their ban. Gaia is PG-13. If you can't say it to grandma in good taste, don't say it at all.

Recently in the SF there was a thread locked by Gaia from someone, although their attitude was less than stellar, practically begging Gaia to do something about the rape jokes going on by banning the word rape from Gaia. It seems the issue of rape jokes, people wishing harm on the government, and the other stuff they touched upon have become pretty bad around the net and on Gaia.
