In the year 2330, Earth ventures to distant planets for colonization for the first time not out of the want to expand their land but as a necessity. Earth had reached critical limit, 80% of Earth’s liveable land was now covered in 10ft tall piles of trash and the ever shrinking population could not be sustained on Earth, now deemed a Junkworld planet. To solve this resources were pulled from the remaining portion of humanity. The product was ships that would take them to distant star systems to find their new home. But not everyone was welcome aboard voyage. There were only so many ships, and there were more people than each ship could hold. Therefore it was deemed only those that would bring some use to the new world be allowed on board. Those who did not have the skillset would be left behind. On May 4th, 2330, the ships departed for a distant liveable planet. Of the remaining Earth population, 60% was evacuated onto these ships and the remaining 40% was left behind on Earth.

A new society was born from those that remained. Now that Earth was far less crowded then before, Earth was habitable enough. The new society adopted much of the old’s, schools remained and people still had day jobs. Life seemed to be as normal as possible. But remember, those that were left behind were those that didn’t earn a place in the new world. Therefore one can expect these people to be criminals, swindlers, murderers and otherwise useless members of society. Therefore the new society could be seen as somewhat Neanderthal. Schools were less a place of education, more a place where basic skills of survival were taught. Work was like the blue collar office job, and more scavenging the junkyard and hunting the mutated prey that ran wild. Policing was minimal and it was agreed upon that everyone fended for themselves.

That was what four children found themselves in. These four children were left behind, you see, children had very little place in the new world. Children were a liability, only select few who were deemed as geniuses were let on board. These four children had parents who earned a place in the new world. But at a cost, they had to leave their children on Earth. Whether they took it without hesitation or not it unknown to them but when it comes down to it, they were abandoned. Without much help these four children would have certainly died but as luck came to be they were found by someone. Her name was Trisha Golding, or Triss as she had come to be nicknamed. She was an owner of an orphanage. Her position ensured that her place in the new world was instantly rejected as her skillset was seen as useless. In the new world there would be no orphans, thus there will be no need for someone to maintain an orphanage. Trisha would have declined regardless. She knew the amount of children they would have been left behind and thus made it her duty to look after them.

That was where our four children and Triss met up and from there they formed their own little family in the new world. Our four children went to school, yet as said before, school had become a place to learn how to survive. It was Triss who took charge of most of their education. She used any and all books she could gather to teach the four various skills. Learning about what they were good at and what she could help develop in them to survive the best was her goal. Other than that she did her best to fill the role of a motherly figure to them.

Moving onwards a little bit, one of the favourite pastimes of the children were to go exploring out in the fields of junk that surrounded their homes. Triss often scolded them for it but after a while when she realized no amount of scolding would stop them she just said for them to be careful. They would often bring home interesting things and Triss would help them attempt to get them working again. Two particular children picked up on fixing things quite quickly bring back old treasures of the old world to life again. On one particular journey they happened across a rare, in fact the rarest find. MOOPS was what he was called. A bipedal mechanical robot that human piloted and seemed to seat up to two people. Unable to turn away from such a find they hauled it back home and to Triss’s headache she decide to let them keep it. Saying if they did indeed bring it back to working condition she is to be there to make sure it was safe.

So thus begins the tale of our four fine children in a world where the hands of evil were beginning to make its moves. And that MOOPS, and the four children will play an integral plot into the future of this world.

The Nest (The Orphanage): The Nest is the name of Trisha's orphanage. Named so from a childhood memory of hers. She was walking through a field with her mother and her mother pointed towards a nest of a particular kind of bird. The bird flies around looking for newly hatched birds that have been abandoned and takes them into their care. This knowledge left quite the imprint of Trisha as she told her mother she would one day do the same. When she turned eighteen, Trisha using her years of savings built the Nest just outside of the city. She has welcomed its doors to any since then and continuously builds up to live up to her growing family. The Nest is fully self-sustaining, they have a farm which is tended to by the children and a few chickens and cows for milk and eggs. They still have to go into the city to get water but with a good rain season they have enough water tanks to last them a good month.

MOOPS's Hideout: Discovered by the four children, it is located in a small cave. The entrance is concealed by three large junk piles that has a very narrow passage into the entrance of the cave. An adult is unlikely to be able to fit through it easily without risking collapsing the junk pile but it is easy to move through for children. Inside the cave MOOP lays there, covered by a dusty old blanket. There are several old books, some have given way to years of neglect but a few are still quite readable. Old tools lay around including a full sized generator that ran off diesel fuel.

When the migration began, she did her best to ensure as many of the orphaned children found a place aboard but she herself did not. Trisha would have however volunteered to stay behind, to look after any children who didn’t get on board. She now continues to run her orphanage, welcoming any children who got left behind. While many have offered to assist her in her tasks, Trisha doesn’t allow many to work at the orphanage. She fears any outsiders coming in and has been known to be possessive over those under her care. Refusing to let any even attempt to adopt them.

Espen, her older brother by some years, took charge and got both of them as far away as he could. Trisha Golding found them soon after, and took them under her wing. While Elisa is only ten, she's spent her whole life absorbing her parent's medical knowledge, and reading everything she can get her hands on about medicine- not that she understands it all. Her current skills are basically first-aid goddess, but she tries her best.

The scene haunts him still, and causes him to disagree with his sister on their father's status; Espen believes his father to either be dead, or a slave who will die once his use has run out. He'd like to try and see if he can help his father- but he knows he was sent away because he can't. Besides, Elisa was a child; she needed him more than their dad did. Plus all the other younger kids. Because of both his interests and physical abilities, Espen spends most of his time helping Trisha with the kids, and cooking the meals. His true passion lies in art though, and his drawings fill the orphanage. He likes cooking well enough though, and tries his best in making good meals, and learning knew things. As they don't always have the choicest things, or even very much at all, he's learned how to be very creative with the food they do have.

No one on the spaceship was his family, after all- no one but the other kids, and he already knew the likelihood of actually being with them. So he stays, helping Trisha as much as he can. As he's not actually good with younger kids he acts as a guard. With a gift toward dogs, Riese has managed to train a pack of them to help with the task. He and his fellows roam the area around their home, making sure no one intrudes without permission. He's already run off a few unsavory fellows, and has learned to wield the gun he carries with, if not expert precision, enough skill to cause harm. He hunts on occasion when needed, but he mostly leaves that to Sam.

tab Blurb: Two years ago a fifteen year old Signe appeared on the doorsteps of the orphanage, offering her assistance. She answered no questions about her past, except that her parents and siblings had left on the spaceship, and she had no home. Trisha accepted the girl, and Signe immediately threw her whole self into helping out. With an eye for details and fast feet, she became a collector; of food, of clothes, of medicine, of anything they needed, really. She was gone most of the day, accompanied only by some of Riese's dogs who were as fleet-footed as her. During the evenings however, she would sit with the younger kids to give the older ones a break, telling them stories of that days adventure- editing out anything truly dangerous that would scare them, though she was very careful to scare them just enough so none would try and follow her. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. When asked, however, Signe would do her best to teach them exercises to help them strengthen up, and any tricks she knew- if she deemed them old to not get hurt doing it.

tab Blurb: Echo is the youngest of the children under Trisha's care. She was born a year after the spaceship left, and due to the conditions her mother died. The woman had been a long time worker with Trisha, so the young baby immediately went under Trisha's wing. Due to her age she spends her days in the orphanage; for her, going outside requires a full entourage of both people and animals. She demands to be helpful, however, and for things to do, so her "older siblings" have given her the job of helping take care of the animals. It's her job to make sure they have clean water and to brush them when they need it- when she remembers or is reminded. Marry mostly takes care of the animals however, leaving her free to forget her duties without much fuss. Due to her tendency to pick someone to follow around and repeat everything they said - that she can pronounce - she's been given the nickname Echo. Lately she's taken to trying to sneak out of the house. So far she's been caught, either by someone in the house, or by Riese or one of his dog's. Due to this she's been given a watch dog that follows her everywhere.

tab Blurb: While Sam certainly cares about his fellows, he spends most of his time by himself. However he got the skills, he's the orphanages' hunter; he spends his days in the wood, collecting edible plants and bringing down any animals he can. Sam came under Trisha's care some months after the spaceship left, but very little is known about him. He speaks in few words, and only when spoken to or if absolutely necessary. If ever given the job to entertain the children he teaches them quiet things, like making origami or string figures. There are times when he'll vanish for a few days, even a few weeks, only to return perfectly fine and with plenty of food. When he first came to the orphanage nearly ten years ago he was a child muted by his expediences, and taken to flinching at anything and everything. He is closest to Riese, and when not hunting or watching the children, he's helping the other boy guard the orphanage, mostly by taking the night shift.

The moment Marly saw just how many animals there were she forgot the rest of the world existed and happily settled in. She helps keep the house clean and the animals taken care of, showing Echo what to do and helping the younger girl when she could. Despite her young age she's a hard worker, doing her best to keep the house as sparkly as can be. She acts as Espen's helper as well, making sure that the animals don't bug him while he's cooking, or simply fetching him things he needs. She's not allowed to help with the dishes however, much to her disappointment. It was her job to clean, after all!

tab Blurb: Husein had been with Trisha for as long as he can remember. He looks like a calm, innocent kid, but in reality he isn't. To those he doesn't consider his family he's hateful and cruel, and a downright brat in the worst possible sense. Only to those whom he calls family is he any sort of nice, though the way he words things and his tone can be taken as mean. He really does care for them, and is rather possessive of them as his family; perhaps because his birth parents abandoned him, a fact he was told rather often by previous neighbors. Whenever someone new arrived at the orphanage he acted rather mean to them, but over time has grown to accept them. Currently he views all the current members as proper family, though he doesn't much care for the Espens. Unlike the others they still love their mom and dad, and he doesn't like that at all. He's still a bit too young to understand that one can love two families just as much, and views their love of their parents as a sort of betrayal. He;s in charge of the orphanage's small garden of food, as he as a green-thumb and loves everything about growing things.

When asked while she wasn't part of the great migration she said it would be to0 complicated to explain and to simply leave it at that. Mertle always has an air of mystery around her, like there is something more than she is letting on. However she treats them with kindness and is also quite knowledgeable about all things. She is often the first point of reference when the kids have something they want to know about. Occasionally she also helps sell things the kids either find or fix, giving them half the profits.

tab Blurb: Before the migration, Ting was the youngest daughter of a local gang that controlled the districts supply of narcotics. After the migration happened, her father managed to get a seat on the ships, she however did not. When her father left, she was left with nothing. But she had a plan, noticing the abundance of stray children she began gathering them under a guise that she ran an orphanage. Lulling these children into a false sense of security and lulling them with pretty toys and fancy candy. But in actuality these children would be eventually traded away as slaves for any who was willing to give her something she desires. While she has had success, she noticed a dwindling number of children arriving at her door. It was there she found out of a competing orphanage, she has her eyes set on bringing down the competition.

First Event: WE FOUND MOOP!: The first major story event is finding MOOP’s hiding spot. The children are quite familiar with the junkfields but much of it is still uncharted territory for them. The deeper the go the riskier things get and rarely do the venture too deep into it. In fear of junk piles collapsing or losing one self in the maze. However one such day our children are feeling particularly daring and venture a little further than usual. Using the mountain to the distance to keep track of their location. When they neared the mountain they found a curious looking set of junk piles. A small narrow entrance, just wide enough for them to fit through.
