gaia_spoons The events were always the most fun part of the community.

gaia_spoons When it actually felt like a community and a world to escape to. (It was a very small site when I joined. I was user #265131 so I'm pretty old. sweatdrop )

gaia_spoons The 2.0 Avatar system before 3.0 came out and we could turn our avatars around and move our arms in different poses.

gaia_spoons When fishing was the first flash game Gaia introduced.

What I really miss the most out of the 11 years I've been here, is that when it first started, the original founders interacted on a daily basis with the users. And they poured their heart and soul into the site, just because they loved making it just as much as we loved using it and being here in this wonderful community. The website was created, looked, and felt more like an actual world you were in rather than a social website you were visiting. It was an escape to a virtual planet called Gaia. I miss that more than anything.

I joined in 2008 but I've still been on this site for a long time.

One thing I really remember is back during the first Halloween event after we had gotten aquariums for the first time.

This was when we got the Creepy Phonograph that would play a creepy turn and turn all your fish into skeletons. I still have my phonograph but I still wish it would still play the creepy music ;-;

It'd be cool if it'd at least play during halloween events.

Yes, I remember the phonograph that turned the fish into skeletons! I always loved all the features Gaia came out with but they just released them then left them to die and never kept them updated, they just move onto new features. It's irritating. lol

And yeah I agree, they should bring back site wide skins for all the features during holidays.

I remember when the battle system was something to look forward to...then they called it ZOMG which is like the Towns flash but with monsters.

I remember back then what was known as the "Gaia Trinity". It was a promise from the founders of the site to eventually complete the "Battle System", the site-wide "Quest System", and backwings. They all came true, but yet again, they completed the features, then left them to rot, moving onto other features. I feel like the people that ran that company were ADHD or something. lol

I remember when Booty Grab was a thing and Wolfgang Duck was worth about ~30k.
Came back a year or two later and holy inflation.

Probably.Definitely seems like a lot of missed opportunities.

I remember when I first joined back in 2004 I thought this was some major RPG just waiting to happen. I was watching .hack//sign(not a big anime fan but I loved toonami) at the time and I thought "I would love to play a game with this much freedom innovation, everything I did was my own and not dictated by some NPC or narrator" and my naive 12 year old self thought that go-gaia was leading up to that.
