Sakura gets down on one knee and petted the Espeon. "My, how you've grown!" she commented, as she tied one end of the leash to Espio's collar. The high school girl couldn't wait to give the Espeon a tour around the neighborhood.

The two of them continued their walk around the neighborhood, sometimes waving hello to a familiar neighbor, a couple of children playing catch, or engaged in a friendly interactive game with their phones or portable video systems. Sakura had yet to cross paths with the red-headed boy Rinne and the black cat Rokumon (who currently reside in the vacant club building at Sakura's high school along with a shinigami named Renge, who recently moved in with her contract black cat helper).

Rinne's short and young-looking grandmother lived very far away from Sakura's neighborhood, and Tsubasa Jumonji resided in a place that has a Christian church. As soon as the high school girl had shown Espio all there is to see, they made their way over to a street filled with small restaurants and gift shops where many stuffed animals were on display, from beckoning cat figurines to gachapon machines with surprises in each plastic capsule.

It was difficult to tell which section of the Bible the dark-haired Jumonji was reading, because he was reading the scriptures so closely to his face. The exorcist turned a few pages to the right, and then to the left, and then back to the right.

At first, Sakura was oblivious to the first couple of tugs of the leash. Pretty soon, the curiosity of Espio got the high school girl's attention. "What is it?" she asked, as her eyes rested on the very Christian-looking church and the guy standing beside it reading the good book. "Huh? Is that...could it be...Jumonji?"

Hearing the strange animal cry, Jumonji peered over the pocket-sized holy book, which was opened to II Chronicles to see an animal in purple fur with a split tail and long ears he could not recognize looking up at him. The guy's brown eyes widened and he let out a gasp, nearly dropping the Bible as he reached for teacup-sized urn in his pocket, intending to cast some in a very sudden act of defense.

Suddenly, he hears Sakura call out, "Jumonji!"

"S-Sakura!" he stuttered, seeing his classmate dash for the loose leash. "Good afternoon. W-Who or what is that?"

As Jumonji pointed out the Espeon, Sakura explained, "It's only Espio. I rescued her a few weeks ago wandering in the rain. She isn't a wicked spirit or troublesome ghost."

"Really? Are you sure?" Jumonji still wasn't quite certain, but that could be the serious exorcist side of him speaking out. He hated to see people get hurt or injured, especially someone he hasn't spoken to since they were grade-school students. Jumonji adored Sakura, a bit more so because Rokudo (that is, Rinne) wasn't around to tell the exorcist to mind his own business.

Tsubasa stared at the now floating holy book, now with an illuminating aura surrounding it. Next he spotted the smiling Espeon looking up at him, before turning his attention back to the book. In the speechless silence that followed, the exorcist reached out his hand and grasped the Bible. Perhaps Sakura was right about Espio being an innocent spirit. Tsubasa would resume careful biblical studies later, but as of now he was going introduce himself to the Espeon. Was it a cat with powers like Rinne's companion Rokumon, or a canine perhaps? He too wasn't at all familiar with Pokemon.

Quickly he pocketed the Bible into his uniform coat, got down on one knee, and tried to pet Espio on her head. Just between the ears and a little above the forehead gem, hoping that the Psychic-type Pokemon wouldn't pull a last second prank. "Tsubasa. Jumonji Tsubasa, a pleasure to meet you!" he said very quickly before pulling his hand away.

"Um...where is Es-" Sakura started to ask, as the young Espeon entered the nearby bush to investigate, only to be blown backward by a shadow ball. "Ah!"

Sure enough the shiny Umbreon, a fox-like, Dark-type Pokemon with a jet black coat with glowing electric blue rings on its body, forehead, and tail came into view of the two humans. Limping on account of the one injured leg and in a foul mood. As Espio approached the hurt Umbreon a second time, Jumonji quickly arose and moved ahead. "Sakura!" he shouted, looking over his shoulder as he reached into his coat, "Pull her back! That one looks dangerous!"

Sakura takes hold of the leash and gently pulled on it to inform Espio to go no farther.

Jumonji pulled a single red exorcism slip from his coat with kanji writing, about to place it upon the back or the side of the Umbreon, until he noticed the bad leg. "Wait...it's hurt."

"Jumonji, be careful!" Sakura advised. There was no telling what the Umbreon might do. She watched as Jumonji slid the exorcism slip into his coat and exchange it for a strip of white cloth to use as a bandage (if the Dark-type Pokemon permitted him to get close enough to mend the injured leg, that is).

It appeared that Espio was earning the trust of the shiny Umbreon. Be it a distraction or an action of compassion, the high school girl felt relieved that there was no attack. "Jumonj," Sakura said to the exorcist, "I think it's okay to tend the wound of the black and blue fox."

Jumonji was a little bewildered at the situation until Sakura's voice snapped him back into reality. Saying not a word, he tears the bandage in half, and gave the bandage piece to Sakura before retrieving a pair of flat pieces of wood with which to make a splint for the Umbreon. Together, the childhood acquaintances would clean and dress the wound for the Dark-type Pokemon. Not too tightly, and not too loose.
