EDIT: If you don't know what this is in reference to, check Tektek.
To staff: Tektek has never been competition to you. Tekton has always credited Gaia.
Tektek has always been supplementary. It has always existed to improve the experience of Gaia. Here are a list of features that tektek offers that Gaia does not:
x Easy dream avatar creation.
x Easy item searching. While tektek does have its own ******** with where items show up, they're never on the level of the "beyond" search yielding nothing of an incredibly popular set.
x Intuitively organized item searching. We have a list of types of items, of where on the avatar items go, etc. Categorization is beautiful on tektek. We can even sort by color and further the results from there.
x Context searching.
x Fixing tags and categorizations with haste.
x Inventory inspection: the ability to view our entire inventories in list form. Included is the ability to see the very rough LMP.
x A comprehensive item database that allows us to see where items come from and a quick link in order to access them on Gaia. Many old items on here have lost their tags, so there's no way to know where they're from unless you have an encyclopedic knowledge of item locations.
x Quest bars.
x Profile themes.
And, finally:
x The ability of users to contribute and maintain the site freely. The only reason tektek has lasted this long is because dedicated Gaia users have spent mounds and mounds of time on gathering item data for the avatar simulator. This dedication is and has always been appreciated. Not the case Gaia.
Tektek still being up is one of few reasons to keep using this site as it's become more and more garbage. It's always been a boon for those of us who like building avatars. It's infinite in its usefullness in finding items, viewing items, and avatar contests. By taking this away, you're going to smother contests. You're going to smother the ability to easily make dream avatars. You're going to stick another knife in the community's back. You go on about understanding and wanting to please the userbase and then go do this? You sure love to speak out both sides of your mouth, staff./////
Update as of 5:05 PM 3/11/15:
Soooo, Gaia... bluealaris said it's because tekton started featuring ads for a competing avatar site.
But here's the thing: PRIOR TO RECOLOR.ME BECOMING A THING TEKTEK FEATURED ADS FOR OTHER AVATAR SITES, TOO. THIS HAS BEEN A THING AT LEAST SINCE I JOINED GAIA IN 2006. YOU DIDN'T STATE THAT THIS WAS THE REASON WHY IN THE ******** LETTER, YOU SAY IT'S BECAUSE TL;DR PEOPLE ARE CONFUSED AND THINK TEKTEK IS OWNED BY GAIA.
You say you want to "work this out" and keep tektek up... but you never state that at all in the cease and desist letter. You basically ******** piss yourselves and tell tektek to stop using all Gaia Copyrighted Material in extremely vague terms. You basically tell Tekton to ******** off and that you'll take legal action if he doesn't.
Finally, considering you didn't ******** talk about this unitl tektek put up a notice about it and users are justifiably angry and talking about this, you clearly don't wanna be transparent. This letter is dates over two weeks ago. You had all the time in the world to talk to us about it then, but you didn't. This ain't transparency, it's a logjamming attempt to save face.
