Your a guy who found your dead dads memento which is a glowing rock as a kid. Later in life you go on an adventure then come back to your home destroyed and your child hood friend kidnapped.

You save her with the help of two others who become friends. you and your small group go on a huge adventure hunting a monster and stopping the end of the world. On the way you get really awesome battle armor that you can get because of your glowing stone. Later through the story your friends all find glowing stones and get awesome battle armor too.

Your child hood friend becomes your lover. Your best friend dies, your enemy becomes your friend, you find your grandfather, your mentor turns out to be the monster you were looking for and your dead Dad is the main bad guy!

This is totally a shot in the dark, but... I'm going to say The Legend of Dragoon? sweatdrop

No refunds,
The sequel is actually better than the original,
but then the third one wasn't as good as the second,
but still better than the first.
