Really now? Then maybe they should change the TOS because that is messed up. A user should be awared of if they are going to be banned. I know there are some real trolls out there that just ask for it but users that aren't even sure they did something wrong should get a warning.

The chances of a user that never did ANYTHING wrong suddenly being banned is real slim, and that has ALWAYS been in the TOS.

It's for when like...say a troll makes another account, makes it real obvious it's them? Gaia can ban them without cause before they cause trouble, they already got banned once for that s**t.

You cannot ban someone before giving them a warning.

What is a warning anyway if you ban the person if it doesn't even say you will get banned in several hours and they just surprise you?

If someone trolls a report aimed to a user, mods take it seriously and ban you?

If the issue is slightly light as possible, they threaten you with banning your whole IP and all the accounts?

I don't think the mods never even consider both sides of the stories and only take one users side if there is a issue they are not even awared of.

Do you think some mods should take a chill pill and be a bit more mellow?

Gaia lately seems to be like the US police apartment, shooting everyone with bans and freezing trade passes out of nowhere.

Please, this is a community site on the internet, relax and don't act like a power hunger cop.

The bolded. That's not necessarily true. I've been told that they don't go into detail of other users' history because of their privacy document. They are not obligated to divulge that information to anyone else, so I would have to say that it does give the Mods a bit of the benefit of the doubt that they handle all sides reasonably.

As far as I know they give multiple strikes before you lose your account. Considering we don't know who you are talking about I can't justifiably say that it's their modding practices that are in question. They ban without warning on quite a few situations, like hacking.

As far as I am concerned, the ToS should be our first warning of what's allowed and what to avoid.

Omg again this. Every time I make a thread.

I am not saying all of these etc. happen all the time but by experience and seeing other people complaining about mods. I made this thread in general to hope mods wouldn't be so strict and all macho on everything.

There are some people that always question authority and do give the impression that there are those mods that are ban-happy.

But then, if you have seen the amount of users who come in here whining and complaining that they have been unfairly banned ... 9 times out of 10, when the mod who finally comes in to reply to the "problem", it comes out that the person banned deserved it for breaking the ToS.

My understanding is that it takes a committee decision to apply a ban to a user unless it is so against the ToS that there is no question that the violation happened ( like posting SEM ) ... and I haven't heard that policy has changed.

When you hear a user complaining about being unfairly banned, you have to remember one thing ... that is their side of the story and of course, its going to paint them as the one that was singled out, picked on, the mod has something against them, etc.. But, there are two sides to a story and you should hear both sides before believing everything you hear.

I've never had a problem with any moderator, so I couldn't say whether they're too strict or not.
But in any case, I doubt that they are "shooting everyone with bans" - seeing as we are all still here.

However, you're throwing two things together that don't really belong together:
Freezing of trade passes has nothing to do with bans, per se.
When you find your trade pass frozen, it just means you received an item you shouldn't have had,
as in: you might have bought or been gifted an item that came from an account that was compromised.
This won't get you banned, unless you were the person who compromised that account.

I also think there are situations in which insta-bans are justified,
like when people post pornographic stuff
or somebody's personal details and suchlike.

Well in my case I got my trade pass frozen for 2 months only for them to investigate and there was never even a real issue.

And many times mod give me warnings for ''trolling'' because some butt hurt person decides to report me and they take it seriously.

How do you know there was not a real issue?
The investigation wasn't into your account, after all, but in the one that was compromised.
Maybe they had a whole lot of items to track and transactions to reverse,
some people have huge inventories, after all.
(I can empathize with it being an annoying situation for you though,
even though I haven't bought or sold anything in many moons.)

Why do you think mods shouldn't take it seriously when people get offended at the way you talk to them.
Maybe the "butt hurt" people are justified in being offended and it is you who should be nicer to them.
After all, this is a community site, as you said in the OP, which means that we should treat each other with some respect,
and the warnings you get may be a reflection of missing said respect sometimes.
(I didn't look into your post history or anything,
but I've been here for several years and haven't received a warning yet,
and it's not like I never got into arguments with people.
Even though arguing on the internet is ... rolleyes )

I suppose I don't understand how someone can quantify "butthurt" in relation to "trolling" and how some issues between people shouldn't be taken seriously. It would depend on the subject matter and what would have been said to be antagonistic.

The trading pass thing is not something I can comment on. I don't trade enough with people for this to be a risk to my account.

Well I guess Gaia had their reason for it. But when they finally gave my pass back they gave no real reason for it at all, and when I asked what was the problem to begin with the respon was ''it was just for investigation purposes''. And with no results. Sooo yeah, not a good reason to freeze a pass for 2 months.

I don't really want to put images of the PM I received, but to me and other friends I showed the PM, it looked really ridiculous and giving the Gaia mod a bad light. The mod even stalked my status on my page and removed it even there was no real harm with it. Whenever I say butt hurt in general, the real butt hur person will report lmao.

Honestly then, it is most of the users who will need to chill out here as well.
