User Image I get a lot of s**t for defending Gaia's decision to take the game down.
I did too for a while, but then I decided I wasn't even gonna try to convince the unwashed basement-dwelling Dew-chuggers* that yes, a major security flaw can and does mean the game may have to be discontinued. So many of them are too set on believing conspiracy theories that require significantly larger leaps of faith to believe; it's like arguing with a brick wall**.

* No offense to actual unwashed basement-dwelling Dew-chuggers, an esteemed community of which I am sadly not a member.
** No offense to actual brick walls, either, an esteemed community of which I'm thankfully not a member***.
*** While I'm at it, no offense to Dew-chugging basement-dwelling brick walls, unwashed or otherwise - just in case the ACLU takes on an order of free masonry as a client in a civil damages case.

        Yeah I stopped trying too.

Like, I get why people are upset. I was a hardcore player for a couple years before college took over my life. (Sadly I've actually been more productive since they game was taken down). But some people make it out to be literally the best game ever created, ever. And it really wasn't.

I think it's pretty funny that you can tell some people got really upset reading some of these unpopular opinions (particularly with people not being in love with the recent LGBT items). I'm just saying, though: that's why they're unpopular opinions. They will make most people upset. There is a ton of stuff I don't agree with in this thread, but my feelings aren't hurt in the least. Honestly, I think it's very interesting to see people's different thoughts. What is normally socially unacceptable or uncomfortable to say in most areas in the forums are completely fine saying here, because it's on topic. Makes for a very lively, colorful thread and I love it.

I have to say though, it is REALLY annoying when a person calls someone a homophobic just because they don't like one thing that happens to involve homosexuality. Do you see them cowering in fear of homosexuals? Do you see them trying to burn them at the stake? No. Not liking an LGBT item does not equal not liking everything LGBT related. People are allowed to not like things as much as they are allowed to like things, for whatever reason. You may not like those reasons, or you may not know those reasons, but you are not them and you can think however you like.

I also want to add that homosexuality is NOT perfect, and neither are any of the other sexualities. There are good things and bad things about every lifestyle a person chooses. I find it aggravating that people have to put homosexuality on such a high pedestal rather than treat it like any other sexuality (which is, you know, what most minorities want, since it brings balance and acceptance). I'm just saying, if someone complained about a man/woman involved item (which I have complained about a LOT before, I am sick of REIs being romances), no one would try to set them on fire and tell them that they're a heterophobic. Also, notice how incredibly silly heterophobic sounds. That's how silly homophobic sounds.

How many people actually played zomg versus how many complained about it when it was rremoved?

I actually kind of enjoy the inflation.

I'm not wild about the confusion it creates for people who often enter one too many or one too few zeroes and end up accidently donating way more than they meant to, or selling something for way less than they meant to, don't get me wrong that absolutely blows.

The extreme inflation and the ridiculous numbers of items out right now makes parts of the marketplace pretty exploitable though, and I do love it for that. Back when I was active before my hiatus the go-to for making money was polls. Then they eliminated poll-cap and added some games, and then the casino. Even then, money making chances were pretty slim unless you bought a LOT of donation letters, were very good at art, or had an extreme day at the slots.

Now though? Psssht, there's always opportunity even if you don't spend any real money at all. Things inflate and fall super easily. There are a lot of events that just shower money and charms. This is an entrepreneurs dream market, I'm telling you. I came back with like, 20,000 gold in my pocket and had 200B within the week, largely thanks to that summer event and without selling a singe one of my inventory items. People who claim that this game is impossible for new users to break into just aren't looking in the right places. Don't get me wrong, it still takes time and effort, but it's way easier to make bank than it was in the past.

zOMG complainers are annoying and think their petitions are actually going to do something. I think that's hilarious.

I like seeing other conservative people on this site who are also socially realistic.

I do not see the point of hang-out threads -- aren't guilds a thing?

CB teens make me want to shoot my nips off. That probably isn't unpopular, but there's a new clique every two years who think they're some special s**t and end up disbanding because they leak n***s or secrets/gossip etc. It's like Mean Girls is being acted out over and over again in there.

Every time I speak about this opinion, I have people disagreeing with it. So I can safely say it's unpopular, even though I, myself, think it's a valid opinion and valid complaint.

It's the opinion that Gaia should stop ripping off copyrighted/trademarked designs and make more original designs instead.

Sometimes it looks like a sponsor made an agreement with Gaia, even though they have not. Just because Gaia didn't change enough details to make it look like a an homage from someone who really liked the original idea, rather than a cheap knockoff because someone was lazy.

These copies have gotten so bad, I'm suspicious of every new item that comes out. Is it ripping off some character from an anime or a game? Maybe another a song? Nothing is very original anymore. Combined with the constant cash sales, it's just... scummy and sad. Like Chinese factories that create bootleg/fake items for the purpose of pure profit.

Reapersun has decided to quit working for Gaia as an item artist. I think this is wonderful news; I never liked her persistent yaoi shipping, or her "so manly I can feel the excess testosterone" items.

I've never had such abundance in gold or items till the inflation hit.

Agreed.
I don't particularly care for Reaper or her items.

Like I said in the other thread, I do wish her luck. But I'm not going to miss her.

Hmm, I don't think not being a fan of her items is too unpopular. Most of the users here are just into frilly dresses and uguu~ kawaii stuff and it's by far the most common release type and the best sellers. I know a lot of the girly userbase was disappointed in EIs that were bulky and masculine.

Being happy that she's leaving may be unpopular though. It's one thing not to enjoy something, but another to have a mentality that the staff should cater only to what you like and ******** everyone else and their taste isn't generally something people voice out loud.

As if Reaper is the only artist capable of making things beyond the pink, girly and hopelessly frufru?

I think part of it too is that the disparity between the cheapest, most common items and the super expensive stuff is SO wide that getting lucky once or getting a good event item and selling that item can give you enough gold to buy hundreds of neat, but cheap, wearables. I know people say 'oh, this must be such a hard time for new players' but I really, really don't think it is. With daily chance alone you an buy out the gold shops and go nuts with cheap/older RIG items and stuff from Loyal's. It's better now than it ever was.

I do admit on the downside, the disparity is really, REALLY vast so those super rare expensive unobtainable items are more impossible than before.

Nah, she's just the artist best known for consistently doing so. Like, I don't enjoy ridiculous dresses or bikini armour and I think a lot of them are ugly as ********, but if there was only one artist here that made super girly items with any regularity and they left I'd still be sad because that leaves a bunch of people who only wear and enjoy that type of item out in the cold. The male to female item ratio is ridiculously skewed already (though honestly that's mostly because female items sell way better, can't fault Gaia for smart marketing) and I don't think this news makes the outlook any brighter.

My post was saying I don't think disliking Reapersun's stuff is a particularly unpopular opinion.
