There was this period when some people just randomly posted a sequence of vulgair or shocking pictures for fun on gaia, like the one of the kitten that was doused with gasoline and set on fire. I'm not kidding, I've seen things. Though it was a couple of years ago. rolleyes Not sure if this still happens...

There used to be decency laws in the past but those were shut down in 2009 (COPA). The 13 and older idea only applies to tort law (contracts) COPPA which basically allows teens to sign contracts (terms of service) and resolve privacy issues.

That said Gaia itself has stated that it is basically 13+ in the parent's guide. However I would argue that if we'd follow a ratings guide I'd say we're 16+ or for older teens the way manga will classify itself. The MPAA ratings do not apply to Gaia nor would it do an adequate job but I think the idea of "older teen" hangout gives a good enough idea of what to find on Gaia.

It's not 18+ because that implies pornographic material which Gaia is no where close to this.

i dont get this topic at all... neutral chibi style dress up dolls are considered 18+ content now? all clothing covers the "naughty" pixels, and the gore is very cartoonish. and our avis cant interact with eachother in "naughty" ways (have ya ever been to the old imvu site?! sooo much fully animated making out there! it was kinda creepy). so how can gaia possibly be seen as adult only?
