Clover the Wood Nymph

Location: Marketplace
With: Kind of by her lonesome, Spirit not far off.
Emotion: ....embarassed.
OOC: There is a link to music at the end of the post. Heads up.

She felt a hand grab onto her shoulder and whirl her around. Clover became face to face with the man in the marketplace who had the apples that she had taken a bite out of. His face was curled up in a rage and in his free hand, he held the apple that she had taken a bite out of. "Look lady," he said in a snarl "You will have to pay for it one way or another. You can't just bite someone else's property and expect it to be okay. These aren't for taste-testing"

Clover looked sullen and forlorn for a second before looking back at the man. Reaching into her raggedy toga, she pulled out her violin. It was not actually hers. On her adventure from where she had come from, she had encountered many men who had seemed to be unconscious. While rummaging for food, she had come across this. The sounds that had come from it appealed to her ears. She had found over time, with practice, she had become accustomed to it and figured out how to play it very well. It's body encased in gold and jewels, it looked as if it should be in a gallery, not stuffed up someone's dress. "Good sir, if it appeases. I have no money for I am not from this place. I do not even know it's name. However; I can play my 'cuerdas' for you. Clover felt deeply embarrassed for what she had done. How was she to know that here there was a need of payment?

Freeing herself from his grip, she set the violin on her shoulder. Taking the frayed yet elegant bow, she ran it along the strings as a quick warm up before making a quick pause. With a deep breath, she started to play.

Kathryn stepped out of the tree line, her boots making a very satisfying clipping noise on the worn cobbles of the street. The road had become progressively better as she got nearer to the town. The woods, which many called Limbo, had been the only home she'd known. And the only home she'd known had not been the most welcoming. The only person who'd given a s**t about her was dead, and Kathryn had been blamed.
She walked on and soon enough found herself on what would appear to be a main street of the town. There was a beautiful melody weaving through the air, but Kathryn needed to find an inn with a free room, and decide if she wanted to live in this place. She shook the distraction of the music from her mind and looked at the wooden sign board which hung out from the shop doors and windows.
"Rabbit's Hole Inn" She mouthed the words as her hazel-green eyes peered up at the sign.
She was about to knock on the door, but something told her that was not correct protocol.
Instead she hitched up the heavy pack on her back and adjusted the handles of the bags she carried in each hand, and pushed the door open with her shoulder.

Once inside, Kathryn spotted the bar and made her way to the first person whom she could assume was an employee. She kept her eyes cast half way down and did not make eye contact with anyone in the bar.
She booked a room for the week (with a possibility of extension), paid in gold pieces, took her key and headed to find her room. She asked for a room on an upper floor, she was used to living high in the trees, and the thought of being too near the ground while she slept was unsettling.

The pair had made good progress through the chaotic scene, ducking and weaving between clashing soldiers so that Michael could get Red out of the battle and to safety. The young pilot pausing briefly to witness the she-wolf's situation, his body tensing just in case he was required for support, which he soon found that his companion could handle herself. During this pause, he was picked out by a charging soldier of his own with rifle bayonet pointed right for him. Though this new wolf wasn't an infantryman, he had been given basic training in combat before the flight academy, Artemian training at that.. He knew the moves and just how to counter them. Using his weapon to deflect the bayonet at the end of the barrel, then taking the brunt force of the soldier's advance with his shoulder, this defense knocked the man back so that the airman could pump a few rounds into the b*****d for good measure. Victory.

It appeared both Michael and his companion would look each other over for any damages before moving on. He takes a sigh of frustration at this point, realizing that Red had now disregarded his advising of her being a small target, but there was no point in scolding her.. She'd probably be faster in that form anyway. "We will follow the medics! They will lead to an aid station nearby, out of the battle!" He shouts, pointing towards small groups of men with red crosses on their helmets who scrambled about, snatching wounded men on stretchers to treat out of the crossfire. Schutz waves her to follow, figuring a swift-dash in that direction was going to lead them to safety, and it would.. for Red.

Michael was suddenly dropped by what appeared to be an officer of some sort, just as both of them reached a safe distance, there was no men shooting there.. But soldiers simply running past in order to reinforce the line. "We don't retreat, son! I should have you shot for being a defeatist!" The one who put poor Schutz on his a** screams with malice in his tone, he was a high ranking individual, which was clear by the near-elderly age and uniform. "I am Commander Michael Schutz, I am escorting this woman to safety.." He tries to reason with the man, only to get a boot to the stomach. "Commander Schutz is Air Force, nice try kid.. You're here to stop those Artemian pieces of s**t, not protect the damn wildlife! Get the ******** up and back to the line! And find a damn coat and some boots, it isn't summertime!"

The Pilot wanted nothing more than to give this-.. He had to check a moment.. -Lieutenant, a nice punch to the gut for insubordination, but in his current attire and lack of identification, there was absolutely nothing he could do. He could continue to protest, risk getting shot by his own comrades, or turn back and try to make it out of the battle alive. "Yes, sir." He finally caves, getting back up and turning to Red, glad that she didn't just attack the Lieutenant out of protective instinct. "If you need a place to go, you can stay at the Aerodrome.. As a Commander, I will have private quarters, you are more then welcome to use. They don't know who I am and have no way to prove it, but at least you can be safe from this." Michael says softly, finally able to speak at a lower level of volume so he could easily give her a more believable reassuring tone, no matter how scared he was at the thought of going back into the battle. "No need worry about me, okay? I know wh-"

"You have ten seconds, soldier! MOVE!"

"Keep me in your thoughts." Schutz adds with a warm smile, disregarding the Lieutenant's frustration and gently caressing the she-wolf's fuzzy cheek. He would take in the moment, enjoying the final gesture of compassion before breaking it off suddenly, knowing the longer he'd stay would mean the more difficult it would be to leave. Turning on a dime to run along with the rest of the troops, taking a coat and boots from a downed soldier, then continuing on toward the deadly skirmish that the pair had just retreated from.

While Aspen's words about her friend seemed to have fallen on deaf ears with Gideon not answering her and, instead, taking her hand and backtracking the way they had just come several steps, the navy-haired male had indeed heard what she said. It would just have to wait until after this was over with, provided Aspen still wanted to talk about Atlas that is. Calmly confronting the woman in pirate-ish garb who had stolen from his female companion, Gideon held up the two things he had taken from Mina himself without her noticing.. and without needing to ram into her in such a rude manner. However, instead of this being a simple exchange, as usual.. something bad luck would happen upon the serpent and others involved. That necklace and bracelet pair, valuable and pretty though they were just by appearance alone, held a dark secret to them. Burning his palm as one lit ablaze and the other started to expel a dark energy, Gideon let out an angry, pained hiss as he flung them on the ground, the heat melting any of the snow in contact. "What th--?!"

Before he could say anymore though, the trinkets he'd taken from Mina had vanished from their resting place on the ground and the thief suddenly became busy with chanting "oh no"s and "go back to sleep"s. What was going on here? Of course, the answer to that was quite clear, but Aspen was the one to voice it before Gideon could do much, Lamont easily registering the fact she was tugging on his sleeve. "Gideon! Those... they have something in them! We should ru-" He didn't budge at first, but when those creatures appeared out of their portals and Aspen gave him a rough yank, the two of them were on the ground before he was able to regain his balance. It figured - misfortune followed everyone that aligned themselves with him... Truthfully, he should have seen this coming the moment he felt like being a 'hero'. From behind Aspen, Gideon glared at the beings, instincts kicking in as the pupils within his golden gaze turned into slits. She really shouldn't be in front of him right now.. especially not when she seemed to be having trouble with finding something. Regardless, Gideon was ready to spring at any moment should he need to.

“Snap out of it Mina!! We have to do something about this, get up!”

“Please listen to me and go back to sleep, you were awakened by accident."

“He stole the sacred artifacts and must pay in blood.”

“Please don’t do this just listen and go back to sleep…I’ll handle him myself just return to your realms.”

"Pay in blood? Tch, I'd like to see that," Gideon hissed under his breath, those golden slit eyes staring sharply at the two beings that had been brought from their slumber in their realms. If he would have known this was going to happen he wouldn't have brought Aspen back with him to confront the woman. Fortunately enough, Wintersrowe was going to stay pretty, serene, and white a bit longer - minus the sound of artillery fire in the far off distance, that is... And Gideon wouldn't have to completely blow his cover fighting anything in the town's limits.

“Very well keeper, but you know what happens if you should break the blood pact.”

                                                              “I..I know.”

Simply watching this whole interaction take place, Gideon let out a growl at the sight of the dagger, shifting his hand in the snow behind him just as she nicked his cheek, about ready to snap on her. No one messed with his face. And they certainly didn't steal from him either. “Luckily there are loopholes as far as blood debt.” "Lucky, indeed.. Lucky I don--" Words dripping with a mysteriously dangerous tone, Gideon stopped himself short and clenched his teeth, watching the coinage, trinket, and one of Aspen's gloves being tossed back to her. Good, she returned them.. if Mina hadn't then she would have one big situation on her hands. “This, gave me more problems than I needed... Let’s go Funaho, I’m starving let’s go find something to eat.” “Yes Miss Clemmons.” Glancing to the fluttering pixie as the two turned away and began walking, Gideon rose his burn-free hand up to his face and closed his eyes.

Rubbing the bridge of his nose and letting out a sigh, trying to calm himself down and also get his eyes to return back to normal, Lamont shook his head, speaking with a slower but more level voice, "Well that was... unexpected, to say the very least." Most definitely it was. Unexpected. Irritating. And a lot of other things Gideon had thought he would escape from for just a little while to enjoy Aspen's company. Lowering his hand from his face and bringing the other one out of the snow, Gideon cleared it of the white flakes before inspecting the burn on his palm. It wasn't that bad; provided he could get it submerged in some water soon, it would be as though there was nothing ever there. His face, however, was still bleeding, much like Aspen's had been earlier. Being reminded of her presence at the thought of this, he rose a hand to his cheek, wiping the blood away with his sleeve, before looking to his companion.

"Don't jump in front of me like that, Aspen... It's not that I don't appreciate it, it's just.. I'm not what I seem, to put it simply; something bad could have happened. Something far worse than awakening those creatures." Glancing away from Aspen for a moment, a mixture of concern and distance on his face, Gideon stood up, reaching down to offer her a hand and get her back on her feet. For the second time today. "You're okay though, right..?" he questioned, because, despite his own minor injuries, Aspen's safety mattered more after an incident like that. Being what he was, this mythical beast of the sea, he was sure he could take whatever that salamander and reaper had to dish out; a human girl with at least some sort of magical talent.. he wasn't so sure of just yet, what with Aspen mentioning that magic wasn't as easy for her during their earlier conversation.

        Mina's Theme Song

Mina had finally made it to her destination, she stared with huge eyes at the enormous estate. She entered the estate and knocked on the door she looked at the letter to see who it was addressed to “Hmm Bane huh, weird name?” Mina knocked again and waited hoping to get an answer, she wondered if Bane was the crazy one the mail guy had talked about. Mina knocked on the door once more and crossed her arms, if they didn’t answer she was going to slip the letter under the door.

Standing behind the door was in fact not a Leprechaun as she had hoped. "Damn. One of these days." she said, clenching her fist. Returning her attention to the woman in front of her, Soriath tilted her head and simply asked, "What's its name? Blonde, busty...hmm..We're gonna guess..Debbie. Hi Debbie, we are Soriath. Welcome to Boboland." She grinned and grabbed the girls hand to shake it. "Does it need shelter? Are we allowed to invite people in? We don't know where Kyoko is so we can do whatever we want. Like fly? Maybe. We should try it! And then we will feast upon the souls of the innocent! BYEEEHEHEHEHEHE!" Soriath stopped and stared quietly at the blonde. "We apologize. Do come in..or not. ******** if we care." she shrugged with a grin.

        Mina's Theme Song

Just her luck, she got the crazy one but luckily she said her name was…Soriath? So she was not the one that Mina was looking for, that was a plus. “Yeah actually my name is Mina and I have a letter for Bane.” Mina gave a smile “Is there a Bane here?” Mina caught glimpses of the items inside and she had to use all her will power just to keep her composure. She had never seen such treasures, and she wanted it. First things first she had to deliver the letter to this Bane person.

        Mina's Theme Song

Mina quickly noticed the change in the woman at the mention of the name Bane, "There is a man of that name that lives here, yes." Mina watched as the Soraiath continued to speak through gritting teeth. "What do you want with him? If you're here to end his existence then please, come in." Mina was a little surprised by all this, “Uh no no I’m just here to deliver a letter to him.” She gave a nervous smile “So if I could just deliver it then I’ll be on my way, pretty lady.” She was hoping that a compliment would calm Soriath down. She would listened as this crazed woman ranted about someone named Kyoko, from what she could piece together there was some kind of twisted love triangle here and as far as she could tell Soriath here and this Bane person were fighting over this Kyoko lady. So then Soriath liked girls? Then it hit her –Oh God, I called her a pretty lady!- the thought stuck in her head and she hoped that Soriath didn’t get any mixed symbols. Mina began to wonder if she should just drop the letter and run out of there at full speed.

Kathryn shouldered the door open and set her bags down gratefully. Looking around the room, Kathryn took a deep breath.
        She was free.
She wasn't entirely sure what she was free of; but she was out in he big open world living by her own terms, on her own, all alone.
Her thought process was beginning to bring her spirit down, and it wasn't very high to start with.
The room was open with a bed to her left, against a plaster wall with exposed beams. There was a good sized window directly across from the door, which she shut behind her and locked. Kathryn decided to open the window for a little and let some of the fresh winter air clear the room.
The last of a melody drifted up on a breeze. It was a violin, probably the same she'd heard as she'd come into the town.
Whomever it was, they'd stopped playing now. Kathryn had hoped it had been a street musician. She knew she'd miss the elf song which floated through the trees almost nightly.
With another heavy sigh she shut the window.
She'd decided to forgo unpacking, and instead changed out of her traveling clothes. Donning a long woolen tunic, brown leggings, a supple leather bodice, and her beloved knee-high boots, she ventured back down stairs.
She'd tied her coin purse into her bodice, a trick Roslin had showed her. Accessible yet hidden.

She ordered the daily stew from the kind barmaid and a pint of ale.
Taking her ale with her, she seated herself in a corner, not far from the fire, and awaited her stew. She hadn't eaten since she'd ventured out the night before, and her stomach reminded her of that fact with a low growl.

User Image Soriath tilted her head after being called pretty. "You think so? Heheh. We know that we are fantastic." She ran her hand through her hair and smiled saucily at the blonde. "And our body is quite impressive as well, is it not?" The warrior leaned towards the woman and continued to give her "the sexy face". "Sooo..how about coming on in to deliver that letter? We are not on speaking terms with He-Who-Will-Soon-Be-Destroyed." She grabbed the blonde's arm and pulled her into the estate, shutting the door behind her. "Make yourself at home." she waggled her eyebrows and slipped off her pauldrons.

        Mina's Theme Song

Mina was quickly pulled into the estate after being flirted with by Soriath, it was as she feared. Mina gave a nervous smile “Uhm if you could just direct me towards where he is I’ll just deliver this and uhm be on my way.” Mina was starting to sweat now especially the way Soriath was looking at her as if she had found a wonderful treasure. Mina began thinking to herself –I really should have charged more for this, what did I get myself into?- Mina noticed Soriath gaze at her chest –oh god she’s undressing me with her eyes isn’t she?- Mina chimed up “I’m gonna go and uh look for this Bane person now.” With that she quickly made her way to another part of the house. Mina looked around and though she had no idea what this Bane person looked like she could only hope he wasn’t as bad as Soriath. Mina pulled Funaho from her hiding spot in her hair and glared at her “Thanks for the assist Fu.” Funaho shrugged “Sorry but that lady terrified me.” Mina shook her head and continued to look around “where the hell is this guy?” Mina began to sing as she looked around, and as always Funaho was flying overhead. She checked room after room the sooner she could deliver the damned letter the better. Funaho sat herself on Mina's shoulder and listened to her song with a dreamy look on her face.

User Image Soriath made a pouty face at the blonde when she mentioned Bane. "We don't know where he is and we don't care..but after you deliver his letter, come find us. Since we have not yet make Kyoko ours, it's not cheating if we have a little fun." She laughed as the blonde ran down the hall. "Not bad..not bad at all." she said, complimenting herself on her new find. "Perhaps we should build a harem. Hm..the decadence of such a life would most certainly please Vogzigor." But would Kyoko be in the harem. "Hmm. Kyoko deserves better. She can co-own the harem." Soriath said with a sagely nod.

        Where I am:
        With:
        Thoughts: ''

        ━ ۰۰ ━
Aspen stood very still until the objects subsided and the girl took some blood from Gideon. Aspen's eyes followed the girl to make sure she didn't do anything other than what she had said and just as fast as the girl had come, she had also left as well. Her arms slowly sank down as she watched the pirate girl leave. Just before that, the girl had brought back what she stole, Aspen quickly clutching the other glove with the one that had not been taken and brought them up to her chest, her fingers tightening around them.

Gideon had been speaking to her for a few moments already, but Aspen wasn't paying much attention. Yes, she had heard him talking to her and ask her if she was alright and she even took his hand as he asked to help her up. But the girl had her face turned down as though she did not want him to notice her face. However, her attitude was different and she didn't say anything other than a simple "...mhmm...".

It would be a lie to say that Aspen wasn't concerned about what just happened. Her heart was all but quiet as she prepared to protect her new friend. But since nothing happened, her heart calmed down, but her mind did not. She was now in a sad mood, probably due to the recent events and her hunger, making her mood change drastically. But there was also something else on her mind, and that was her friend Atlas...

Before Atlas was out of sorts, he had led Aspen away from her home and through the valley that they loved to play at. Aspen had brought her dog with her and they were having fun until a monster from the mountain had wandered down and caught scent of their location. It was said that the monster was known for sucking the blood of children. Since Aspen was a child at the time, the monster did in fact go for her. Atlas was able to save and guard her, but both were unable to save Aspen's dog. As hard as Atlas tried to fight the monster, the monster was too strong and both Aspen and Atlas had weak magic abilities. Right before her eyes her best companion was gone and there was nothing she could do about it...

This brought on the sadness the girl was feeling now and she tried her hardest not to cry, her hands balled into fists, clenching at her sides. Her head was still tilted downward for several moments before she looked up at the sky, one arm over her eyes as the snow fell all around them. 'Do not cry... do not cry.... you're okay, Gideon is okay. It was just a hiccup.... you did nothing wrong, no one died...' was all Aspen could think to calm herself, several loud sighs issuing from her mouth as she calmed herself.

~ "Y-Yes, I am fine. Your face, it's scratched right? Here, let me help you as you helped me," ~
Aspen said, digging around in her pocket for the medicine she was trying to use before, her eyes not meeting Gideon's. She feared that he would make contact with her and she would lose control over her emotions, something she did not like to show people. She was always like the mother or aunt to younger kids and wanted to hide what was exploding in her heart and what was on her mind. As she decided not to look him in the eyes, Aspen shoved the cloth he had given her with the treatment and missed his cheek, hitting his nose instead. She didn't notice at first and shoved her gloves into her pockets. When she did, her face blushed and she took the kerchief down and slumped to the ground as well, staring at her hands. One was shaking due to her frustration, the other gripped the cloth.

'Why can't I just brush this off and say how I feel? "I'm okay with you hurting me if that was what happened. It wouldn't be intentional and it would be as it is supposed to, like fate. Sorry, it won't happen again". Why can't I say that? Why? Why? why?! WHY?! WHY?!?!' Aspen thought as she shook her head trying to dissolve the thoughts running through her head. Her eyes were closed, shut tight as though not to let anything slip past them. She did not notice that tears started to form and drip onto her sleeves either. She needed calmed down and her frustration let go soon.

"Soriath! Stop scaring people!" Tao called out, before coming into view with what appeared to be like 5 window frames without the glass that was suppose to be in them, considering three of them were around his neck. During the time getting the place fixed up, he has managed to become aware of the crazy lady's name. He wasn't aware where the other person went, until he heard the singing, and followed it until he found her.
"Sorry about her, she is a little..." he paused a minute and swirled his finger around his head, making a whistling noised and basically called the crazy woman a cuckoo, which she kinda was to him. "Who were you looking for? Bane?" he asked, not entirely sure what was going on and what was said between the two.
