theresmany ways to look at avis but heres 2 ways to look at avatars
1. like a character
2. like a piece of art
making a good character:
good avi characters should seem to come to life. colors arent always so important with characters. whats important is the character feeling real. try to steer clear of that boring blank stare and stiff as a bored stance (unless of course thats what you're going for)
experiment with unusual facial expressions, wild arm and leg mods
small details also really show care put in a character. a twinkle in the eye, some freckles, a cell phone ect. people arent just dolls.
and get creative with the bigger details. interesting hair and clothing that fits their personality. maybe add a back ground to add a setting
2 making good art:
there are many elements to art but i like to focus on color, composition/ balance, uniqueness
starting with uniqueness. if ur avis looking like every other avi around u u might as well just stop. scrolling through tons of avis, urs is not gonna make someone stop and aw. try something new!
color- color is important. you dont have to match! you just have to know what compliments each other. some colors are nice with each other. just WAY overdone. avoid red and black, purple and black, whites and creams, neutrals in general. of course you can use these colors. just try to make them really purposeful and try to make the other two elements like balance/comp and uniqueness much bolder or unique
composition/balance- where is the focus going? where is your eye drawn? if your avi is a cluttered mess the viewer will be overwhelmed looking at it. try picking a point of interest that all the other places lead you back too. as well get creative with balance. top heavy, bottom heavy, perfectly balanced. try to avoid awkward balance and tilting.
my avi falls in neither category
its more like a model wearing clothes which can be very boring!
but i enjoy fashion so its fun for me
theres so much more i want to talk about but really i dont know exactly im talking about and i just wanna keep dis simple
