                                From being a demon or being a human, all sorts of races and creatures alike were gifted with Magic. However, while some may use it for good, others use it improperly to do evil deeds. Therefore, creatures with the magic ability were given invitation to an academy located in the home of the Valkyries in the far north. The school had been called The Perditian Academy for the Arcane Arts, created solely for the harnessing of the magical ability. There, creatures themselves adapt to the academy, harness their abilities and learn more about magic.

                                At the Academy, there are certain courses for the the certain magics a student is learning. The student is required to attend classes, however due to the fact that there is no Grandmaster, students continue to skip class. To the side of that, depending on their race, the dormitory will also be made for their liking. Each student will be placed with a roommate of their race to avoid racial clashes as well. Many friendships and rivalries may occur throughout the school year, however it lies solely on you Role-player. We hope you accept our invitation to attend the Perditian Academy for the Arcane Arts and have a great year.

                                The literacy for this roleplay will be semi-literate. The least is two paragraphs, minimum. Feel free to write more paragraphs though please don't write a novel here. We don't want to read anything crappy so please check your grammar and reread your posts before posting. I understand some of us will make mistakes while we're typing out our responses but please don't make it a habit.

                                No bright blinding colors, and that's a requirement. We'd prefer colors that are readable and don't blind the eyes. If you're concerned about a color feel free to ask about it.

                                They don't need to be flashy but enough to make it worth reading(well, no matter what, we'll have to read it in one way or another). Have a picture, character name and who're you with so we know who you are and who you're talking to. Feel free to add additional designs like quotes, themes songs, and symbols. Please remember to quote or tip other role-players to get their attention so you don't have to wait a few days for them to post.                                 <Rune Magic>
                                xx"Typically known as the magic of scholars and inventors, Runes are mostly use to enchant items and weapons with magic, or to create protection amulets". Rune Magic is associated with Tome Magic, as it takes a Rune Mage to make, or teach how to make, a Tome. A Tome cannot simply be made on the battlefield, and must be made before hand. Tome mages may commission one to be made by a Rune Mage.

                                2 Types of Elemental Magic:

                                <Basic Elemental Magic>
                                xx( Person can learn up to all 4 elements withing Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. ) Combining elements CAN make the magic stronger. Costs more Mana. You may only START with one element, you can however learn three more at the school.

                                <Specialized Elemental Magic>
                                xxAdvanced Elemental Magics ( Does not involve Basic Elemental Magic ) Energy, Light, Dark, and Nature magics. You can only learn to control one, as these are powerful Master level magics. Focusing on two would make the spells so weak that they would not even be useful.

                                <Tome Magic>
                                xxRequires studying of a book carefully to cast one spell from that specific tome. Memorizing PERFECTLY is important. Failure to do so results in catastrophe. Any spell can be used like this, the more advanced the spell, the more time it takes to cast. After casting, the user instantly forgets how to cast the spell, and must once again peer into the respective Tome to use the spell once again.

                                <Shapeshifting Magic>
                                xxUser changes their body into that of an animal. Typically most shapeshifters have one animal form, but there has been one or two incidences where two forms have been recorded. However the two forms were animals of the same Family, I.E Coyote and Wolf. Some shapeshifters have gained animal like behavior and characteristics after their first transformation. Were-people have some advantages in this type of magic due to their shifting during full-moons. Shapeshifters CAN transform into Mythical beasts/animals, but only if they MASTER that type of Magic, and only if it is the only magic they know. Shapeshifters can only transform into one Mythical being. Transforming into that being makes them INVINCIBLE for a short period of time ( Except to other shapeshifted mythical beings ). After the transformation has disappeared/vanished, the Mage is left utterly exhausted. Using any more magic at this point is almost a death sentence.Shapeshifters that wish to become a mythical being are also burdened with that beings weakness. Example: A Phoenix is a bird on fire, while in this form water would simply turn to steam, water does not work well with shapeshifter in human form. . .

                                <Abysswalking Magic>
                                xxRequires some sort of shade, or darkness. The user is literally immune to dark magic, though when in a shadow or the dark, is hurt by any sort of light that makes the shadow disappear. Also allows user to walk underwater so long as there is shade. Casters are weaker against Light.

                                <Healing Magic>
                                xx A branch of magic that can be easy and non-draining, to difficult, taxing and dangerous depending on the spells used. Healing magic can be used as basic first aid or for life saving aid. It is one of the benign yet most dangerous branches of magic due to being invasive to the targets own magic and higher spells being draining. It is recommended that those who study it, study anatomy as well.

                                <Puppet Magic/Necromancy>
                                xxSimilar to Summoning magic, the user uses magic to send a shard of their soul into an inanimate object, or a dead creature (Known As Necromancy ) This does not require much mana, however the creatures created will not be incredibly powerful, this magic relies on outnumbering opponents. You can also move living beings around, like tossing. Souls will return to caster when creature is defeated. However mana will not.

                                <Hex/Curse Magic>
                                xxThe user places curses and hexes on a target that slows them down and damages them with ailments. This is a hard branch of magic to learn, but not due to it being difficult to cast, or being draining, but due to the fact that most texts on the subject were destroyed after people misused the Magic. People now learning this branch are highly monitored for misusage.

                                <Summoning Magic>
                                xxUsing magic to call upon a being from another world. Summoned creatures constantly consume magic depending on how long they are there. The caster can someone ANY mythical being, however if the being is more powerful than the caster, it will not listen to it's master's orders. In case the caster summons a Demon, the demon may kill the caster.

                                <Destruction Magic>
                                xxThe origin of most Elemental Magics. Being very primal, it does not consume much mana. HOWEVER, the effects are only physical. Meaning one most come into contact with what they mean to destroy. They can only rely on their own strength to get them there. They are no faster or stronger than any other mage, and in a ranged battle, the destruction magic can be useless if not used properly.
                                >>> [Strength Magic] An INCREDIBLY dangerous form of magic. Derives directly from Destruction magic. The user accelerates their physical strength and agility and become more powerful and faster. This magic drains your magic quickly, and ultimately fatigues your body. Results can be devastating on both sides, and deadly. If not used carefully, the user can push themseleves into a coma. Or severely crippling their body.

                                <Time-Manipulation Magic>
                                xxThe user uses ridiculous amounts of Magic to manipulate time. Cannot be used in Dual Casting. The user ages faster than others when using time manipulation magic. This magic can only control inanimate objects. Does not effect summons, however it does effect puppets. Magic is incredibly deadly to the user.

                                <Dual-Casting>
                                xxA form of magic that takes two different kinds of Magic and combines them. The caster can not learn basic elemental magic at the cost of greater magics. The caster can combine any other TWO forms of magic together. However the magic is not essentially as powerful as mastering just one magic. Example being that if the caster uses Dark and Strength, a user with ONLY strength is more likely to be Faster, and more Powerful.
                                - Compatible Magics used for Dual Casting THUS FAR: Strength+Healing, Tome+Rune

                                <Hybrid Magic>
                                xxAn ability to learn all kinds of Magic besides ridiculously burdening kinds. Meaning Time-Manipulation, Puppets, and summoning. The mage is born with a gift that allows them to take on all kinds of magic. Hybrid magic also allows for a much larger mana pool. Though, the size of the mana pool depends on age, and skill.

                                NEW MAGIC -

                                <Holy Magic>
                                xxThe ability to buff/rebuff, or grant status ailment to allies and enemies. The magic being discovered from the combination of Healing and Hex magic. The user can cast protective shields on allies, as well as speeding them up for a short time. The protective spells ward off shrapnel and weaker magics, while weakening more powerful magics.

                                <Radiance Jumping>
                                xxMUCH LIKE ABYSSWALKING, the caster can leap to and from light sources. Caster can reflect off of mirrors or reflective surfaces. If light source is somehow put out, caster is harmed tremendously. This magic also gives the Caster full immunity to Light magic, and a special weakness to Dark magic.

                                <Anti-Magic>
                                xxDWARVEN SPECIALIZED. The ability to absorb any form of magic within five direct meters of mage. The ability cannot negate Strength, Destruction, and does not Negate Rune magic. Because of the dwarves having next to no mana pool, the magic around them is absorbed and instantly expelled from their bodies. If anyone else were to try this, they could absorb far too much mana and destroy their mana pool entirely. Instantly turning a proud mage, into a vegetable that cannot do anything in seconds. Not usable by Hybrid Magic or Dual Casting.

                                <Power of Words>
                                xxA magic that everyone has a minor affinity to, but is unknown and often not even recognized for what it is. With this magic, spoken words are key and are often able to alter reality and cause strings of good luck or bad. Though in order for the magic to take hold, the caster must truly believe or desperately wish for their words. Due to this, it's mostly children or pessimistic people who unknowingly end up using it the most. Depending on what the caster is saying and how altering it is it can either be very draining on their magic or not at all draining. Until someone can fully use it, it is mostly passive. (UNAVAILABLE UNTIL EXPLAINED BY ITS FOUNDER.)

                                xx<DWARVES>
                                Allied with Humans. Highly Disliking Elves. Worships Demons. Can ONLY Use Tome Magic. Average Height: 3'6-4'8. Found East of the Great Woods in the Mountains.

                                xx<WERE-PEOPLE>
                                Caring towards Half-breeds, Mortal Enemies of Vampires. Can fully shift into their natural animal state. Ex: Werewolves can shape shift into full-blood wolves. It is a form of Shapeshifting Magic, giving the race a slight advantage in this form of magic. However it can only be used under certain circumstances. A werewolf can only be full wolf under a FULL MOON. Different animals have different circumstances. The shifting however, drains them for the day afterwards. Were-people also cannot be half-mystical animal. Such as a unicorn, dragon, Wyvern, ect. Average Height: 5'5-6'0. Nomadic, found west of Astora, home of the Humans.


                                xx<HUMANS>
                                Allied with Elves and Dwarves. Uneasy about Demons, and dislikes Vampires.Height: 5'5-6'0. Found in Astora, West of the Great Woods.

                                xx<VAMPIRES>
                                Worships Demons. Thinks of Humans and Elves as little more than food. Mortal Enemies of the Were-people. Average Height: 5'5-6'0. Found in the Vampire Country just south of the Great Woods.

                                xx<ELVES>
                                Allied with Humans. Highly Disliking Dwarves and Vampires. Worships Valkyrie. Average Height: 5'10-6'3. Naturally found in the Great wolves along with Faeries.

                                xx<FAERIES>
                                Adores Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Were-people. Doesn't care for Valkyrie or Demons. Average Height: 4'5-5'2. Naturally found in the Great Woods along with Elves.


                                xx<HALF-BREEDS>
                                Often frowned upon or disliked, being considered Taboo. Often friends of Were-people. Naturally found everywhere in the map.

                                xx<DEMONS>
                                Worshipped by both Dwarves and Vampires. Mortal Enemies of Valkyrie. Love to poke fun at Humans. Demon skin tones tend to be Dark Shades of Red, and Orange. Rarely Blue. Average Height: 6'5. Found in the far south, past the Country of Vampires.

                                xx<VALKYRIES>
                                Worshipped by Elves, Mortal Enemies of Demons. Valkyrie skin tones tend to be almost White, sometimes Lighter shades of Blue, all the way to Purple. Sometimes even looking Human. Generally Pale. Average Height: 7'0. Found in Perditus, home of the Perditian Academy of the Arcane Arts.

                                An hour and thirty minutes long. The study of when and where the arcane arts began and how it developed over time. To also be more in depth it focuses on how each magic branch works.

                                An hour and thirty minutes long. Alchemy, basic arithmetic.


                                xx<LUNCH/FREE PERIOD>
                                An hour long short break from classes, in which the students are fed and some practice magic.

                                An hour and thirty minutes long.
                                To learn about the specific magic that you use. Ex:Elemental Magic = Elemental Studies


                                xx<SPELL STUDIES>
                                An hour and thirty minutes long. Practicing spells and magics. This is where students will be divided based on upon on their magic.


                                xx<PHYSICAL EDUCATION>
                                An hour and thirty minutes long. Basic combat training for the user.

                                From the end of the school day till curfew, students are free to do whatever they like.

                                Lore = The body of knowledge, especially of a traditional, anecdotal, or popular nature, on a particular subject. In this case, the Races within the Roleplay. The first roleplayer for each race creates the lore for their race if so desired.


                                <DEMONS>
                                xxxxxDemons are a brutal race of prideful and powerful beings. All demons are capable of magic and all demons have an in-born aggression. Most female demons are succubi who can seduce any other race besides Elves and Valkyrie. In a demon household, females are raised to learn proper manners, culinary arts, eloquent speech and passive magics. The males are commonly thrown onto the streets at an early age in hopes to one day become strong enough to challenge the father of the household for dominance.Either the father dies, or the child dies. If both live and decide to go about life peacefully, both are exiled from the country for breaking the strict tradition of demon lives. A Father and son meeting is no laughing matter as the child is raised and taught from the streets that their father threw them out so that they could one day become strong enough to kill the father. Demons breeding with vampires is strictly forbidden as they are seen as lesser-beings and slaves or servants. Nothing more. However female demons may breed with any race they deem fit the children will simply be exiled from the country. Succubi breeding with other races is commonplace. Red demons have natural strength, and are the most aggressive kind of demons. Yellow/Orange demons are considered mild-tempered and are among the fastest demons. Purple and Blue demons are considered royalty above all other demons, for their gifted wings and aggressive behavior.

                                Valkyrie and Demon past rumors:
                                Both races believe themselves to have been gods, worshiped by mortals. Nobody knows where their feud began, but the two now despise one-another and blame the other races for their god-like power.

                                <VALKYRIES>
                                xxxxxValkyries often settled in the colder regions of the world. A high set of society in most cities, it's rare to cross a Valkyrie in any poor conditions (less they are on military business). Not all Valkyries wield magic like their counter part, Demons. It was more common for females to wield magic than males. Those even with half their species lacking magic they were never defenseless, they were fully capable of combat be it from their physical capabilities that dominated the fields or their personal crafts that were unique and only found in Valkyrie armories. With this split of magic came the social hierarchy that was defined in earlier development of Valkyries. Those with magic were royal or nobles, even branches of them that held magic were held with high regards. Females, being more inclined towards magic, were the dominate gender in olden times. Yet, the lower class without magic the males were the dominate gender of the household, being physically capable and well recognized as warriors.

                                The basic rank started with Female Valkyries (Magic)> Male Valkyries (Magic) > Male Valkyries (N/M) > Female Valkyries (N/M). There were more complications past this basic ideal that conflicted with family branches, war, and illegal political affairs. Sexism and the question of magic or not had long been abolished, though naturally within some pools of the population there are some that remain with old traditions. With religious ordeals that hold beliefs of Valkyries (and Demons) once being gods. It was also believed that many Valkyries used to have angelic wings of their own that were stripped from an unknown force (even children that were born with scars along their back were believed to be chosen heroes to redeem Valkyries, this was long ago when religion prevailed highly in the culture). Even with only half their species wielding magic, the Valkyries have been resourceful to stand tall to this day.

                                <FAERIES>
                                xxxxx Fairies(also written as faeries; fae-folk), are winged creatures that live within The Great Woods along with the Elves. They are among one of the only races who adore each and every race. However, they do not, in fact care for the godly figures of Demons and Valkyries. For what reason? Who knows. Though, they will treat both Demons and Valkyries the same, as they are also magical beings. Fairies are often shown cheerful and dote upon the other races as they do for themselves. They also naturally carry some sort of satchel that has food sources. It is rare for fairies not to carry anything related to nature, as carrying an object from the woods makes them less homesick when they travel. Fae-folk also have a lot of magic power, (if half-bloods weren't around) they would be ranked second in the magic pool. Most of the fairy population have elemental based-type magic and it is often rare and unique for fairies to have those outside of the elements. Fairies who do not specialize in elemental based magic are highly targeted for possible mates for their soon-to-be spouse.

                                When it comes to choosing mates to create families, it is often arranged(by similar age or a few years difference) on the day of their Wing Ceremony. If the arrangements do not go as planned, then both fae are free to marry whom they chose. If the arrangements go through, both fairies are required to have the same type of magic to keep their household strong, mostly in hopes to advance in their magic and go up a rank. However, if the Male fae is the first to be of his specific magics, (ex: User doesn't use elemental based magic) then he may choose whoever he wants to mate with. If the fairy is the first to receive a different type of magic and is female, the fairy won't be able to bear any children until a male is chosen within that type. Male fae have a higher percentage of having their child bear their magic other than females.

                                Fae-families are often separated into households which define their magic specialty and are naturally distinguished by their appearance. Ex: Elemental Dark Fae have dark skin, hazel eyes and navy hair. When a child is born within a specific family, they are given the same physical traits as their family however they are "wingless". Wingless for the fae mean they have until they reach their age of maturity to be chosen in a certain magics, usually in hopes of same magic specialty as their blood family. The Wingless Fae cannot chose the certain magic they wish for, as the wings form based on a variety of information.

                                When the fae-children reach their twelfth or thirteenth year, they are granted their first pair of wings. The Fae call it the "Wing Ceremony" that occurs every mid-spring. Wings are what defines a fairy and declares their magic specialty. If the fae does not receive any wings, they are declared "Wingless" and stay within the "Wingless" community. For faes, that is usually the worst community to be included in as they are merely seen as magicless fairies and are naturally shunned upon by higher ranked fae. If a fae from an elemental family does not have their family's magic upon themselves and has another, they join the other family with their specific magic. Usually, when another fairy joins another fae-family, it is rare for that fairy to see their blood family often. However in some occasions, (like during events or festivals) Fairies who have joined other families are given permission to see their blood relatives.

                                <VAMPIRES>
                                xxxxxVampires are the mostly prideful race you would find inhabiting the “Vampire Country”, located just south of the Great Woods, a land which used to belong to weres and vampires alike until vampires decided that it should be theirs alone (they just thought weres were filthy beings, is all). A select handful are born with superb magic abilities (mostly the higher-blooded class), while others (common vampires) remain just as blood-sucking monsters that terrorize humans for their own pleasure (there may be some exceptions though in persona). You can guess how things became this way, though. Creatures with magic just seem to have better opportunity than those who are void of magic. But, there is an obvious line separating the rich from the poor. Similar to the Human society, Vampires are ruled over by higher class families who also worship demons in hopes of becoming closer to whom they call the Gods. Most higher-classmen are stuck-up beings who usually have their own agenda, reflecting a more corrupt hierarchy that many would hope. There are many exceptions to the “stuck-up agenda”, but they are usually the ones of the lower-high-class. And right from the high class, we jump right into the common, whom live in small homes or apartments in the Vampire Kingdom. Most of these people are bitter towards the higher-classmen, while others just hope to live a life void of any troubles from them. It’s amazing what money and a bad attitude could do. Due to the Vampires desire for blood, they rule with a blood hierarchy which means …yes, the “cleaner” or the more “pure” the blood is that runs through those vampire veins, the more “respected” you seem to be among the people.

                                Males, higher class or lower class, have more power compared to the opposite gender, most of the time (it’s rare to find a really strong female). This is why vampires work traditionally in families (especially in higher class ones), where there is one dominant “Head” based on either strength or magical capability. In higher class families, males (if born with magic) are forced into training to harness the power they wield, either being sent to the Academy or being trained by the mage of similar talent whom are summoned from other lands. In other higher-class families (not born with magic, which are a rare find in the higher class bunch), the males are taught to avoid trouble from any other magic wielders, which means that they are trained to harness their abnormal strength advantage when if used properly, can overpower someone who is weak in magic. It is somewhat the same way with the lower-classmen . . . although, usually, they never really can protect themselves from the people whom are above them. They can only hope that their training was strength enough with the little that they have with their “Head” of the family. You see, Lower-classmen tend to have this thought that if they copied the higher-classmen, they could also become somewhat like them. Males of the higher-class are usually very stuck-up, delicate-looking men with handsome features (some are more eccentric than most) while lower classmen are usually stubborn, irritated mules who seem tired of doing work for the bunch of pansies upstairs. Well, this is the more common agenda for the lore. Personality of the Vampire Male really depends on its occupation in the Higher or Lower class family, and how they are raised to deal with their own burdens.

                                Females, higher or lower class, are weaker than their opposite gender (it’s rare to find female vampires imbued with magic unless of a higher household . . . then again, it’s hard to find magic-wielders in the lower-class people in all). This meant that they were treated more as property rather than people. In the higher class, females born with or without magic are usually trained in manners, speech, or anything to make them proper ladies first when they are traded for husbands of the like. They were usually used as peace treaties to keep another family from ruining another. This was tradition that just stuck, since it made, as they assume, “everybody” happy. For higher-blooded ladies, magic was second, being a woman came first. They were never really taught to harness their magic until they are married off at a young age, if the other house was generous enough to let them study in between social events and husband worries. Very few vampire women seemed to be legends among the magic world, and usually, if there were any, those were part of the lower class (as sad as it may be) due to the very relaxed conditions they have when it came to rules . . . well, who would follow rules if all they needed to do was stay alive? Unlike higher class women, the lower class had better of a chance to follow their dreams, as stubborn of a mule as their husbands were. They had the privilege to marry for love rather than status. Personality-wise, females of a higher household are usually similar to the males, only even more spoiled due to their pampered lives while females of the lower household are more humble and more able to survive on their own when the time comes. Again, there are many exceptions to these rules.

                                It is rumored that, to gain power, some females either willingly or by force intertwine themselves with demons for a child with more powerful blood.

                                <WERES>
                                xxxxxWeres are a race made up nomadic tribes. Tribes act as one large family unit, in which everyone is to help raise the children.They take lifelong mates and are loyal lovers. For tribes first names are an intimate thing and letting someone use it reflects the status of lovers/mates. Unlike other races weres are a lot more open with interracial relationships and accept them fully. (except for vampires). However, if the non-were mate refuses to integrate with the tribe, they and their lover will often be cast out to keep within the tribe. Weres who are kicked out of a tribe or are tribeless are considered persona non grata due to the fact they do not abide by tribe law or know them.

                                                The sky lit up over the horizon as the icy winds blew all around Ursus. It'd been awhile since his last visit at the academy. His last field study had gone surprisingly well, even though it took him all vacation to do it. None of it really mattered to him anyways. He got to get out, and study the world around him nonetheless. Practicing his magic, and learning more about the world as a whole, instead of this frozen wasteland that the college was present in. Thankfully, his human form and robes hid his true demon self from all the Valkyrie around the outskirts of the college. The Valkyrie never took a liking to the demons, and though Ursus was raised a human, they still attempted to toy with him regardless.

                                                Upon the final approach of the college, the wind died down, and the sun shown brightly in the distance. Ursus stepped to the large, frozen front gates of the Academy, and calmly walked forward. The gates opened slowly for him as he walked. This would be his sixth year at the academy, and he was already known throughout the school for his rare magic pool. The gates opening without and question or concern was absolutely normal when he approached. Once inside, Ursus slipped through the shadows and made his way to the kitchen, almost instantaneously arriving at his destination. He sensed around, feeling how many people were in the kitchen where he would soon make an appearance.

                                                The only person lurking in the room besides Ursus, who stuck to the shadows, was none other than the head chef. Ursus and the head chef had met each other on several occurrences throughout the years. Most of which being Ursus' regular raids of the kitchen late at night, where he would make an ungodly amount of pancakes to satisfy his cravings. Ursus allowed his head to poke out of the shadow for a mere moment, before he smelt a sweet odor irradiating in the room. It was the smell of the head chef's world famous pancakes! A fragrance Ursus couldn't so easily ignore. Almost like a lightning bolt, Ursus jumped from the shadow, onto a seat facing the chef who all but laughed from the young man's appearance. The chef slid a large plate of buttermilk pancakes, with a large jar of creamy peanut butter over to Ursus, not forgetting of course, the chef's world famous spiced maple syrup. Drool started to fall from Ursus' mouth, as he grabbed a fork next to him, and begun to dig in just as the bells atop the tower rang loudly, to signify that the school itself was opening to a fresh new batch of students this year. 'What new faces would be here this time? ' Ursus thought among himself. Before losing his notion in the delicious hands of the pancakes.
