invisible annie o'keeffe was born to a lawyer and businessman, both working hard to succeed. they were well off and brought their daughter into a fine world. the only real issue was the fact that, unlike every other female in the emrys bloodline, she didn't start developing her powers at five when most did. it was enough to cause a rift between not only she and her mother but the complete abandonment of her her mothers family in regards to the young witch. thanks to her father's job, they moved around every couple years. annie never minded. she liked the new places, the new schools and the new people. always slightly anxious when it came to people due to her own family situation, annie had a tendency to try too hard to fit in. by the time she was fourteen, she was finally starting to show signs of magic. all spells backfired on her, leaving her mother to heal her more often than not. annie's knowledge on the subject had grown exponentially as the years had gone by. desperate studying had been her friend. the most she could apply it to was gardening and cooking. during the last week of her eighth grade year, her family had found themselves in Chestersville. annie had made a best friend in the preachers daughter and made a more than large mistake in trusting her with the truth. the local youth group caught her as she left school and stoned her, claiming it was how you cleansed witches. annie's father found her hours later, still in the school parking lot trying to get her back to stop bleeding. after that, they moved to baton rogue and things looked up for her. gone was her depression from the previous incident and the upcoming cynical nature was removed thanks to nadine and charlie. annie had been there four months before she and charlie started dating. they continued on until annie was set to move to beacon hills so her mother could open up her shop and be closer to her sister, annie's favorite aunt. in lieu of losing both a best friend and a boyfriend during her last semester at school, annie's father bought her a small australian shepard puppy. the two spent have spent since then inseparable. now they're in beacon hills, slightly into the school semester. annie spends most of her time home alone due to the mass amount of time her parents work, just as she has for most of her life. she does work evenings at her mother's new age hippy health / witch shop, frequently bringing merlin with her.

As a child Clark was always brighter than other children and her parents called her gifted. They had no idea how right they were. Clark uses more of her brain than standard humans and is able to sense energies, in other words a psychic. Fortunately for her the boosted brain power gave her the good sense to keep it to herself. Outside of her family only a handful of people know the truth; to these people she is Mac. Social interaction is challenging for her at times because she is always just aware of how full of s**t people are. Currently Clark is taking a sabbatical from university because she couldn’t ignore the call. As a result her parents are no longer speaking to her or providing her with support financially and refuse to do so until she goes back to finish her degree.

Clark felt like she was being pulled in two very separate directions. Driving up the steep hill with the U-Haul unit in tow it felt as if gravity was pulling back on her champagne colored Chevy S-10 truck. It was heavy and physical, her gas pedal was almost to the floor, but it had nothing on the force that was calling her forward. It was almost three weeks ago at a stupid party that it began. Everyone in her building was having a lunar eclipse party on the top of the roof, and while they were lame the eclipse was supposed to be cool so she went. She had been standing holding onto the beer she was nursing to blend in and looking into her viewer when it hit her. It was like a thick rope had connected to her mental coil; she dropped the beer and her knees buckled. Clark just giggled as if she was tipsy and said she had made the mistake of looking directly at the eclipse and she was fine before she went to her apartment. Ever since she could remember Clark had been different: she could see and sense things that other people couldn’t, when she touched things or people she would see glimpses of watershed moments in their past and future, and she could even manipulate the energies if she really put herself to it. She just figured that this was one of those things; that the energy created by the planetary harmonics had knocked her for a loop. Putting on some music, which always soothed her she decided to try and lay down for a nap.

Only the feeling wasn’t going away, in fact it was getting stronger and stronger. The shock of it had startled her, but the longer it went on and stronger the call was the more frightened Clark became. She stopped sleeping, eating, going to classes, and then leaving her apartment all together. Something was calling her and it wasn’t going to leave a message. Clark had no idea what was calling her or from where, but she knew it wasn’t going to be a quick matter so she packed up her apartment and rented a smaller U-Haul and just started driving west. The first night in a crummy Motel 6 she sent an e-mail to the school letting them know about her sabbatical and they were ambivalent, she had already paid her tuition so they didn’t care what she did after that. Her parents were less understanding. They were among the few people that knew the truth about her and her abilities; they had been dealing with them almost as long as she had after all. Still they didn’t understand what it felt like to be called out to: it was a cry for help, the beckoning of a lover, the call of curiosity, the reconnection of an old friend; it was everything she couldn’t ignore. Her father told her that as long as she chased this foolishness they wouldn’t support her emotionally or fiscally. So the next morning she got up so as soon as the banks opened she could close out all of her accounts and draw against all of her credit cards before her parents could shut them off. They hadn’t even called her to yell about the ten grand she had drawn against the various credit cards they were responsible for.

That was a week ago. A week of just driving aimlessly, anytime she went in the wrong direction it would let her know sending nausea so strong that couldn’t be fixed by medicine only by driving in the right direction. Now she was close, she could feel it. Finally she crested the hill and took her foot of the pedal so she wouldn’t careen of the peak of the hill. To her right there was a sign that red ‘Welcome to Beacon Hills Home of the Cyclones’ ”Beacon Hills—“ she said with a sigh, the irony wasn’t lost on her ”well let’s see who turned on the beacon.” she said taking her foot off the break and letting the force that had pulled her back take her forward into the valley.

Clark was on driving on the business loop through down town looking for a motel where she could stay until she found something a bit more permanent, she didn’t know why she felt like she would be staying, she just did. Pulling into a lot she turned on her GPS and told it to find motels nearby and to sort them by price. Sitting back in her seat she sighed letting the GPS do its thing when she saw a for rent sign with a number across the bottom. Pulling out her phone she dialed the number listed and waited for an answer. After a few rings a man answered and after a short phone call they agreed to meet at the building in a half hour.

Clark got a salad at McDonald’s and returned to the building in time to meet the landlord. Clark explained that she was a student from New York, but had tired of the East coast and wanted a literal one eighty degree change so she had come to California. When Clark offered him not just the first month’s rent and deposit, but rent for month number two and a last month’s rent he decided to forego reference and background checks and took her for a walk through. When it was all said and done she had signed a lease and turned over the cash she had promised and just like that she had a loft in downtown Beacon Hills.

Loading up the hand truck from the U-Haul she was faced with the biggest items first, the most important and the last that she had loaded. ”Why hello there, what brings you here?” a voice asked behind her. Clark had been expecting it, she had felt him before he had even said anything; his aura was something more. She had felt auras of things that were more than human before, they loved the NYC, but she had ignored them and they ignored her; it was a good system. He was good looking in his early thirties with short fair hair and an athletic build but, she could feel him already scheming, the way his aura was shifting this way and that. ”I just rented a loft in the building, but someone as smart as you should be able to figure that out: cute girl, U-Haul, struggling with a heavy head board.” she said pausing to push her honey blonde hair behind her ears. ”Ah the new neighbor, we’ve had worse. Would you like some help with that?” he asked tilting his head. Clark shook her head ”Thanks, but no. I’m more of a do it yourself girl.” she told him and tilted the dolly once more. ”If you change your mind little miss do it yourself, I’m Peter and I’m in the penthouse.” he told her with a cocky grin. Clark decided immediately that she didn’t like him; whatever his particular flavor of freak was it made him an arrogant.

Thankfully there was a large freight style elevator that made moving easier. After Clark got her bed in she moved her entertainment system and unpacked her small five point one surround system and hooked her phone up to it to play her Pandora. Moving past the large window she went to the door that led to the balcony and left it open so the music would follow her out to the view. Taking out one of the hand rolled cigarettes from the night before she lit it and leaned against the stone support and took a deep drag. Whatever Peter was it wasn’t the reason she had been called to Beacon Hills. Taking in the view she cast her sixth sense out like a net trying to pinpoint what was calling her, but she couldn’t it was everywhere and it was in everything. Reeling her senses back in she exhaled the final drag and butted the cigarette out, there was still a lot of stuff she needed to bring inside.

”SCOTT… SCOTT… SCOTT!” Stiles screamed as he waved his arms in front of his best friend’s face. It wasn’t any use, Scott wasn’t paying any attention to him, almost as if he was invisible. Hearing a low bass filed growl behind him Stiles spun around stumbling a little over his own feet. Derek was standing behind him, his face transformed into its wolven form ”Very funny buddy, but something wrong with Scott.” he told Derek, he was their go to on the wolf stuff. Derek didn’t seem to hear him either, or maybe he did and he was just in a bad mood; he had those a lot. Instead he swiped down, his hands growing long claws as he continued to growl. Stiles held up his hands defensively and slowly started to back away, something was definitely going on here. Swallowing the lump in his throat the human wished he had Lucille, his bat, to knock some sense into both Derek and Scott. Over his shoulder he heard another throaty growl, Isaac this time; then another and another until Stiles was surrounded by growls. His heart was racing and every which way he looked he saw the lupine face of one of his friends. This was not good. ”Scott!” he called again trying to desperately find his friend in all of the chaos. Picking out Scott’s lacrosse hoodie Stiles started to run for it pushing through the twins, Aiden and Ethan. ”Scott you’ve got to help me, they’re after me.” he said placing his hand on Scott’s muscled shoulder and turning his friend around. As he turned his friend around Scott was also wearing his wolf face, his eyes glowing their eerie red right before he slashed into Stiles torso.

”STILES! Wake up son!” his father’s voice cut through to him and Stiles amber eyes opened; his heart was racing and he could still feel the lump in his throat, his cheeks were wet with tears. ”Sorry Dad, it was just a nightmare.” Stiles told his father after swallowing the lump and freeing himself from his father’s embrace. ”Yeah I know son, and it’s the third one this week,” his father said wiping his cheeks ”and it’s only Tuesday.” he finished. Stiles took a deep breath and nodded his head; he knew where this was going. ”Look Dad, it’s nothing I promise. Just there’s a lot going on right now.” he said pushing himself out of bed. That wasn’t exactly true; for once it was sort of quiet. The Alpha pack had moved on, except for Aiden and Ethan who weren’t making trouble. Scott had defeated the Darach. And despite Deaton’s warning about activating the beacon that their town was originally named for things were smoothing out, for once. Since Scott was first bitten it had been an endless stream of supernatural raining down on them, this was his brains way of trying to cope with always being in crises mode. ”I’m fine Dad, I promise.” he said again shooting his dad a smile ”Now can I please get ready for school?” he asked. Sherif Stilinski raised a brow and stood up ”Wants to go to school, are you sure you aren’t sick?” he teased trying to press his palm to Stiles’ forehead.

After he had showered Stiles dressed in jeans, sneakers, a navy v-neck, and a blue and green plaid button up that he let hang open. It was still fall and the days were still nice, but Stiles grabbed his lacrosse hoodie just in case it got chilly later before he hopped into his jeep slinging his backpack into the passenger seat. Typically Stiles would have went over to pick Scott up, but over the summer he had gotten himself a bike. Once it got cold enough Stiles would start giving him rides again, but for now he would let Scott get himself to school.

Pulling up to Beacon Hills High he parked in his spot and killed the jeep. Getting out he rounded the vehicle and opened the door to get his stuff from the passenger side. He was half-way the parking lot when he heard the diesel roar of Scott’s bike and turned to look as his best friend pulled up. Turning he shielded his eyes from the clear morning sun and for a split second caught a glimpse of his nightmare. Stiles breathing quickened and so did his heart rate, just a dream, he told himself it had just been a dream. ”Hey Stiles, everything okay?” Scott asked swinging his leg over to dismount the bike. Stiles nodded his head ”Yeah, I’m fine, just a little worried about that test in Econ. You know how Coach gets.” Stiles said with a shrug. Scott looked at him, his eyes squinting as if to ask if that was all. Stiles shook his head and shrugged once more ”Yeah, what, come on let’s go inside.” he said jerking his head towards the school.

Inside Stiles opened his locker after spinning in the combo by muscle memory and started to shift the contents of his back pack ”So I was thinking that after school you, me, Danny, and some of the other guys could put together a pick-up game of lacrosse, you know just to keep us fresh.” he offered. Not that Scott needed to keep in shape, he was a freakin werewolf, but Stiles was another story. Scott’s frame was tense and he didn’t say anything and once more the feeling that he was in his dreams ”Scott?” he asked. Scott jumped as if Stiles had somehow managed to startle him ”Yeah, sorry I spaced out there for a second. What did you say?” his friend asked. Stiles rolled his eyes ”You know it makes me melt when you ignore me like that you big, handsome werewolf you.” he teased. Scott’s face soured ”Come on Stiles I was just thinking about that test in Econ, I can’t believe I forgot about it, that’s all.” he explained but Stiles best friend sense was tingling like Scott wasn’t telling the truth. ”Well I guess we’re both screwed.” he said letting it go for now.

Making their way to chemistry class Stiles and Scott occupied their normal lab table. As the other students started to fill in he nodded to Alison and Lydia as they entered ”Ready for that Econ test?” he asked them. Alison looked fearless as always, ”Yeah, sure.” as she sat down and Scott greeted her. Lydia on the other hand gave a cute little shrug ”Of course, it’s not exactly like their throwing something hard at us like physics.” she said sitting down and crossing her milky legs. Stiles shook his head, now was not the time to get distracted by the wiles of the strawberry blonde goddess known as Lydia Martin. Taking out his notebook he flipped it open and started to scan his notes, cramming everything in that he could before the bell rang.

”So who would like to hear a joke about potassium?” the substitute asked looking hopefully around the room. Stiles felt a little bad for the woman they had standing in after Mr. Harris had been sacrificed a few weeks ago by the Darach, she tried so hard. Before she could give the punch line which was almost certainly “K” there was a knock on the door. Everyone turned to look at the door, thankful for the break. The secretary entered the room and ushered a blonde into the room. Stiles throat tightened, she was beautiful with milky skin and almost white blonde hair and the biggest, most beautiful eyes he had ever seen. Standing up Stiles raised his hand ”Us, us she can sit with us.” he exclaimed. He realized that everyone was looking at him and even a few were chuckling at him ”I just meant everyone already has a partner, so we’d be willing to take a third.” he said his voice trailing off as he sank back down into his seat. ”Jesus, Stiles, she isn’t that pretty.” Lydia snipped behind him. ”Very well, Miss O’Keeffe if you’ll take a seat with Mr. Stilinski and Mr. McCall we can continue.” the substitute ordered motioning to them. Stiles looked over at Scott ”Dude, give her your chair.” he whispered. Scott looked at him ”You give her your chair.” he whispered back shaking his head. ”I’m not playing with you Scott…” he started but it was too late, Annaleigh was already at the edge of their table. ”Hi, here you can just have my Stiles, I’ll stand it’s cool, I’m chair.” he said standing up and groaning realizing how stupid he sounded.

The sheets on the bed shifted, the small Australian Shepard sneaking his way up to the top of the bed. He kept his body low, crawling slowly and stopping when he felt his own shift in her sleep. It had just passed five thirty, her alarm not set to go off for another half hour. Both of her parents had vacated the house, having been the original reason the dog had woken up. He'd grown lonely and hungry, which of course, meant waking her up. With his face now near her face, Merlin laid down. His body depressed the pillow next to her, nub of a tail wagging back and forth as he darted his head toward hers and licked her from corner of mouth to eye. Annie O'Keeffe woke with a start, body rolling away from him in the queen sized bed. “Oh my God. Ew. Gross. Merlin, we've had this conversation,” the blonde practically whined, staying on her back and wiping her cheek off. The dog hopped up, giving a second hop to land over her neck, curling his body around her head in order to lick her hand near her hair. Annie wrapped her arms around him, rolling them both over so he laid next to her while she on her side. Fingers danced through his fur, his entire backside wiggling in joy. “I wanted to sleep.” Annie hadn't expected to sleep. Ever since her father had gotten her the pup, he'd been hyper active. Late to crash and early to rise, the only times he slowed down was when he knew she couldn't keep up. Merlin rolled over onto his side, feet kicking and shoving the covers down from around her chest. Giving a groan, the teen rolled over onto her back and peeled the poorly matched sheets (one boasted sailor moon while the other was a rather feminine flower pattern of a completely opposite color scheme) from her body. Skinny legs tipped over the side of the bed, toes curling in the material of the cream colored rug. Annie had worked hard to get her room in order. She and Merlin both had. They'd managed to set her desk up, the shelves, her tv and her closet. That was along with painting the walls a much more inviting (to her, at least) green in comparison to the robin's egg blue that had been plastered up on them before. There were a few film posters here and there, photos of her friends and family on the wall behind the head of her bed. Given that she was the only one that was ever home, her parents had been kind enough to give her the largest of the bedrooms. Merlin had already claimed the window seat in the large bay window as his own personal look out spot.

Charlie's old The Door's t-shirt hung loose on her, the neck line slipping over one of her shoulders. It'd been one of his favorites, soft and stretched out from years of near constant wear. He'd been quite a bit taller than her and the shirt proved as much. Annie missed him. She missed him in a way that ached. The young woman had never believed it was the adult love her mother and father had nor was it the love her aunt Delilah and uncle Arthur had. Annie had loved him in a way, though. He'd helped her and she'd helped him. He was the person she'd been closest to. Her parents knew a lot of her history, but they knew little of her. Their absence made it difficult for them to do so. Charlie had known. He'd never known her history but he'd known the way she felt when her family came to town. He let her hide with him, his own father having little to no care what his own son did. They'd been similar in that way, though different in how it was dealt with. Charlie went out and partied. He played in a band and liked to go to crowded places to disappear. Annie liked to stay in or go out to the parks, the bayou, anything away from crowds. She managed for him when they were out together and he managed to quell his dislike of the quiet to take her out on his family's boat. Giving a loud groan as she stretched out, Annie made her way out the door, into the hallway of the large house.

Her mornings always seemed to go by fast to her. In the silence, she could move around at her own pace, head ducked down and Merlin following behind her as she went. He'd been like that since he was a real baby. Following her around the house, sitting in the shower with her because he didn't like the glass separating them, hanging out with her when she watched movies...If Annie was in the house, Merlin would want to be with her. Soon enough, Annie was giving Merlin the final pet on his head, fiddling with a button on the blue shirt as she made sure it was laying fine over the green one. Annie grabbed Charlie's leather jacket and her backpack, hurrying down the steps and out the door in hopes of making it to the school the first try. Annie had never been great at directions and when she was nervous, she was even worse at it.

Driving to school was miserable. Annie was fine at driving, it was just something she never liked to do. Charlie had always loved it and she'd more often than not hitched a ride with him to and from school. It wasn't like she wasn't normally spending all her spare time with him anyways. But, Annie was a fine driver and made it to school safely and on the first try, much to her surprise. There was a very familiar song and dance about going to a new school. Annie had been handling her affairs with it since middle school. She knew it well. The only time her parents helped was when there were papers they absolutely had to sign themselves. The secretary handled it for the most part, the only passing remark being made by the principal that of her following school rules and that they were no doubt similar to the ones at her previous school. Annie nodded her head, following along and smiling with whatever she needed to do to get this over with. “Alright. I think that's everything..” the secretary said, giving a deft nod of her head and passing Annie the slip of paper that had her locker number, combination and her schedule. “If you'd follow me, Ms. O'Keeffe.” the woman rose from her desk, Annie following suit and both went out the door. The woman explained the school's layout, the bare basics if Annie had to guess. She couldn't say that they helped much. The blonde failure of a witch was still going to end up wandering around like an idiot for the first week.

Annie didn't express how much she truly appreciated the secretary showing her to her first class, full well knowing she probably wouldn't have made it there until the end of period had she not. Her attention had gone on the teacher at first, giving a short wave and a warm smile to her. The secretary introduced her to the teacher before abandoning the room herself. Annie's attention quickly snapped to the teen offering up a seat to her, a quiet laugh crossing out of her mouth before spreading into a smile. Annie nodded, making her way through the rows of lab tables until she made it to that one. The space between her eyebrows bunched up at his statement, a shake of her head coming soon after. “Hi, chair. I'm Annie.” She reached up and tucked a hair back out of her face, giving a glance around the classroom. “I was actually going to go get that spare stiles from back there though..” Annie pointed toward the back of the class, a spare chair shoved up in the corner. Her boots thumped quietly against the floor as she walked back to it, quickly moving to return and place it next to who she was supposing was Stiles. Annie sat down, her bag getting deposited on the ground under the chair so no one would trip over it. Leaning forward, her chin got deposited into her hand, blue eyes hooked to the front of the room.

Though no genius, Annie had always been good at school. She'd put hard work in to get the grades she did. Studying was something she was good at. She'd been doing it hard core since before school really even required you to. Maybe she wasn't the smartest in the room, but she knew exactly how to teach herself things. Needless to say, it didn't take long for her to start spacing out, attention and thoughts going elsewhere. Namely where her next classroom was. Her mind tried to wrap around all the hallways, her teeth grazing against her bottom lip while her hand tangled with the family crest necklace around her neck. Directions were hard. When the substitute turned them loose, worksheet in hand, Annie finally piped up. Most of the other students were already set about chatting amongst themselves, the substitute seemingly fine with letting the class go for the moment. She seemed new. It must have been rough. “Hey,” she piped up, voice low as she leaned over to the boy next to her. “I dont guess you all know where,” Annie let the word hum out as she dug around in her pocket, pulling the schedule out of it, “this class is? And maybe this one too....annd....okay, I have no clue where i'm going.” her fingers had bounced down the list of the classroom numbers, her other hand holding the pencil she'd been scribbling answers down on the worksheet. “If you don't mind, of course.”
