Or is it not enough

The originals never ******** left.
They've been in every game since Green.

I thought the fact that you can catch Pokemon like Pikachu and Pidgey early in the gen 6, coupled with the fact that you can receive a gen1 starter too, would clear this mentality... I was obviously mistaken

Gears and ice cream cones are ridiculous. What about living pokeballs and purple piles of sludge... And pink blobs. Let's not forget magnets with eyes.
You're biased towards genwun but you can't even notice that the marginality between the degrees of ''unoriginality'' in gens 1 and 5 isn't so big at all.

The original WHAT, specifically?

It can't be the Pokemon since you can get a fair share of creatures from across all the Generations in this game without the need of transferring any. When PokeBank and Poketransfer release, you will have access to all the Pokemon, so it can't be that.

Is it Gym Leaders? They come and go. You remember what made them awesome, and get happy when they cameo somewhere, or when something like the PWT returns.

Is it villain teams? Well, there's a reason why villains don't tend to be recursive anymore. That trend is mostly regulated to Western stories. But hey, when a reason does come for a hated villain to return....

Is it trainer designs? Come now, just because the NPCs suffered from mass doppleganger syndrome, doesn't mean the entire world of them has the same exact strand of the disease. It's like the common cold. So many variants that you'll never fully cure it.

Is it movesets? Miss the good ol' autopilot sets that everyone had to use to even dream of competing? Like your games stagnant? There's alot of poorly designed TCGs that you'd be more than welcome to play. Yu-Gi-Oh comes to mind in terms of extremely poor design and stagnant metagames.

So, my question to you, is what specific so-called original do you miss, because it most certainly isn't the creatures themselves.

So you're complaining about silliness in a series where you throw balls at creatures of varying sizes, strength, mental prowess, supernatural prowess, and even nature manipulation, encase them in said balls, then go around battling other people whom caught their own iterations of these super powered creatures of varying sizes and shapes as vast as nature itself, fighting and capturing more creatures of this persuasion, and eventually fighting evil people who wish to use these creatures to their own gain, penultimately capture a god-like creature within a given region you're at, and ultimately become the best of the best by entering a tournament to show that you've made your creatures more powerful than the professionals who ambigiously dedicated their lives to the endeavour.

Yeah. Pokemon in and of itself is silly. Silly designs and concepts come with the territory!

Party Partier

If you miss the first gen then you still have the option to use them. They 're all over in the new game. I hope everyone else is super happy they didn't make 150 more new Pokemon, & they recycled finally, like I am.
The originals are still around, but I do miss the hype.

Back in 98-2000 I couldn't go anywhere without hearing "Pikachu!". The toys sold like hotcakes, and flew off the shelves, today they hardly have to restock. Burger King was doing big promotions, Pokemon figures were found anywhere even gas stations. Plushes randomly found in furniture stores, Pikachu Mobiles being made, Lugia PT Cruisers. The card "Charizard" was known by other card game players, and people who didn't even play card games, none of the cards afterwards or today are recognisable like Base Set Charizard was. Pokemon movies actually hit the big screen in the US but don't anymore. Boy bands like Nsync doing promotions with WB and the first movie. Pikachu was in every magazine, and books, comics, etc. were found everywhere even grocery stores and Pikachu balloons in every parade. Every company wanted a promotion with them from crackerjacks, to poptarts. Pokemon merchandise was a bigger seller than Tickle me Elmo. TV saw parodys (Lingling, Gouno, Chinpokomon) it was freakin everywhere.

Today X and Y made record sales, and they deserved it as its natural their fanbase grew and matured. But if what your missing is the hype, I can understand that as the originals became Iconic. Theres been awesome Pokemon since then like my favorite, Lucario, but the merchandise isn't taking the US by storm like it once did as the new car smell wore off. Its still hugely successful though and not going away anytime soon, so thats good. XD

You're too many
I like that they added more pokemon, in my opinion; 718 is not enough.
Like in the real world. There are trillions of different species and there still many yet to be discovered.
It makes it more interesting and fun.

Yeah, I like the originals but I like the new ones just as much.
But the only reason the originals have a more 'special' place in people's heart, is because they played the blue/red when they were younger
Everything was way better when you were a kid.

but on a side note, I honestly think pokemon was stale and was full of bs when gen 1 came out...I only really got into it when gen 2 and on came out because they fixed all the bs mechanics gen 1 obviously had. :v
