We're never going to get the marketplace back to the way it was before. Right now what we should be focusing on is damage control. Stopping new gold from gold generators from flooding the economy is top priority. We can still have a stable economy where 1 billion gold isn't worth all that much. Gaia just has to adjust almost everything else on the site to compensate. What we can't have is an economy where the amount of gold needed to buy an item keeps growing.

Does this have anything to do with game items inflation? I just got back on and its been a while and carnations/guppies/goldfish have sky rocketed in price. & now caches are like 300k each? last time i remember they were 60k.... Inform me please redface


The site's overall inflation is caused by many things. Selling gold generators like Flynn's Booty and Flynn's Chest are among them.

1) Gold generators increase the amount of gold in circulation, causing each individual piece of gold to be worth less and causing prices to rise.
2) GC is spread too thin across multiple GC options, causing supply of GC items to decrease and making the remaining ones rise.
3) Releasing Alchemy Level Up GC options caused more people to become alchemists, causing an increase in interest in Alchemy, causing prices to rise.
4) GC options were given that granted you better and better ratios. RDMW and NM Minis, and DJs are but some of the examples. This reduces the GC in the system and reduces the interest in buying anything else, because you can just save up GC and buy a bigger item for mass profit.
5) Poor customer service causes GC users to boycott the items either intentionally or unintentionally, resulting in lower supply, which causes more people to be upset. Chain reaction.
6) Marketplace panic. When something has a chance of increasing prices, people are scared and are prone to paying higher just to get items. Marketplace Manipulators or AIers as I call them take advantage of this and buy mass numbers of popular items just to list them up for higher.

These are some of the big reasons why items are inflated now.
