Maeva Kryme
        The Voodoo Queen

Celia seemed to give her next words some thought and then asked, "What happens if say some circumstances change and I would no longer be able to work for you? Are there any specific penalties for backing out?" Ah, questions that should always come to mind before one of her contracts were signed. Every variable had to be thought out and considered by those that dealt with Maeva because, after all, they didn't want to find out that they were selling what would be the equivalent of giving up a firstborn child now did they? Freedom was a very rare commodity these days and always the easiest to get people to sign over... Especially when those people happened to be down on their luck and struggling to make ends meet, scraping through each day by the skin on their teeth. Maeva smiled, the corners of her mouth curling up to become a little half-moon shaped smile. "Celia, if there is a moment when you should need to leave my employment, it must be a legitimate reason; no false excuses typically given to employers and trust me when I say that I will know if you lie to me. If you have a legitimate reason, such as you were arrested and had to be sent back to the states or were going to have a child, then I would gladly allow you out of my employment. But, of course, you and I both know that there are very few things that would interfere with your life that would make having a steady job and apartment worth leaving. Now," she clapped her hands together. "Off you go. Remember, be on time and do try to eat before you get here. It'll be a busy morning and I don't want you passing out on me from lack of nutrition." She waited until Celia had left before that kind smile became a more malicious grin. Silly, silly child. Back out of Maeva's employment? Oh heavens no. Celia was trapped in a job that would no doubt be profitable but also just slightly dangerous. If Ms. Winter could find a loophole... Then Maeva would tear up the contract she had just signed herself into. If not... Celia would belong to the Voodoo Queen forever.

Lux met the wall with her own attack, breaking it away and sending a shockwave out from the point of impact; luckily for the others, they weren't near the point of impact, or else they would have been blown backwards. A testament to the power of the impact was the shockwave that resulted and snuffed out several oil fires; something that was usually accomplished with explosives.

As this happened, Shock's anger sent her launching forward, propelled by a stream of energy, sending her into a high powered tackle at Lux. They wrestled for control, light meeting energy and both uniforms getting a fair share of angry looking burn marks. Before Shock could electrocute the stupid light b***h, she was kicked in the head and have the wind knocked out of her for the second time in less than a minute. There was no chance of Zephyr helping her again though, as evidenced by how he had simply tossed her aside at her complaint.

This left her vulnerable for long enough that Lux kipped up to her feet and enveloped Shock in light. "...s**t..." Shock managed to get out before she was tossed up and slammed down hard into the ground, causing a crater in the ground to match the one Zephyr and Nox had created. Shock was dazed and failed to notice Lux recharging from the sphere. By the time Shock had regained her senses, Lux was taunting her, something that did not sit well with the young woman.

"Come on now sweetheart, don't tell me you're already finished; I'm just getting warmed up,"

"I'll warm you up b***h!" Shock said as she got to her feet, struggling though to do so. There was blood running down the side of her face from being slammed into the ground, but it seemed to cauterize when a jolt of energy ran over the wound. Shock threw her arms up to her sides, and energy shot to her from the walls, being sucked from the energy grid much the same way Lux pulled in the light from Darren's sphere.

The pulled in energy swarmed around Shock, not in a display of power though. It was simply too much for her to contain inside all at once. When she opened her eyes and looked at Lux, she no longer had irises or pupils... her eyes were completely white, a side effect of all the power running in her right now. It didn't mean she was blind, it was simply how her meta gene reacted to being overloaded.

Shock threw her hands at Lux, and a stream of energy shot out, rushing towards the heroine. As it moved, it gained shape, taking on the form of a Chinese dragon, jaw open wide. Of course, getting bit by the dragon wouldn't lead to a puncture or crushing damage, but it would result in the transfer of a mega s**t ton of electricity, to be scientific.

Lux dodged this attack, but the dragon came back, circling and attacking as it emerged from Shock's hands. Eventually, she seemed to reach her limit and the creature stopped growing, so instead Shock devoted her energy to keeping the beast strong and attacking Lux.

She was not terribly precise with it, as the creature nearly hit several others, including Miss James and JC.

Zephyr quickly picked himself up after he hit Shock, not stupid enough to stay down and get blindsided by an attack. After all, he was a professional, and a damned good one at that. He knew Shock had likely been hurt by the impact, and a cursory search with his powers showed her lungs empty of air, likely crushed out by the impact, so he did the proper thing and re-inflated them. Nobody could accuse him of not being a team player. Then shock cursed him, so he tossed her a good twenty feet away from himself; the little girl had no place being in this fight if that was going to be her attitude to everything.

Nobody would win this fight alone, save for himself, and that was only because he had been doing this forever. The others needed to work together, something he had suggested and was ignored about... so let them fail. He'd kill this shadow girl, a thought that did make him a little sad considering how much fun she was to fight, and then swoop in and save the others, if they could survive that long. If not... well, then they deserved to be caught or killed. They were fighting heroes, but they had kidnapped the heroes' leader... it was likely the kids were out for blood.

By the time he turned his attention from Shock back to Nox, it appeared she had been healed by the winged kid, whatshisname. Zephyr had not been involved in Kayleb's project, and so knew nothing of his story save from the kid had some past association with the OWC and could heal. So, shadow girl was healed, and she looked even angrier than before, if such a thing were possible.

Good.

She raced forward, quickly becoming a blur in the fires that dumb dumb had lit. He took a defensive post, mouth moving slightly as he seemed to count. Nox flew forward at him, scythe drawn, and slashed down hard enough to cut a man in half, something Zephyr could attest to being extremely difficult to do. He fell apart into air, reforming behind the scythe, striking forward with a strong punch. She met this with a harsh kick of her own, and the two quickly exchanged meta-powered blows, the impacts creating small explosions that shook the parking bay as they collided with each other.

Eventually, she connected with a kick just a hair before he could meet it with one of his own, causing him to fly back. As he flew back, he flipped in the air and quickly changed directions, rushing back at her and hitting her with a spear tackle that sent them through the wall of the parking bay and onto the street outside. Being that they were in the warehouse district, the street was devoid of people, but a couple of large tractor trailers were present. Zephyr disappeared, and it soon became obvious where he had gone as a tornado formed under one of the trucks. The twister picked up the truck, launching it at Nox.

She had apparently gotten the same brainwave, as his truck met one tossed by her, the two colliding so hard that they fused together and crashed to the ground with a loud thud. When the scene was later examined, it would be nearly impossible to tell that the mass of metal was once two separate semi's. They quickly rushed forward at each other, each moving fast enough to be a blur and hitting hard enough that a lesser person would die getting struck so hard. She used her shadows, and he was manipulating the air inside his own veins to deliver the punishing blows.

Celia felt something sinister behind Maeva's smile, but since when had any boss of hers been completely friendly? At least this job came bundled with a place to stay, it would probably make up for any eccentrics that Maeva had right?

After leaving, Celia popped into the apartment, it was indeed much better than the one she was currently inhabiting. There weren't any sagging ceilings, water damage, cracks in the wall, random tiles missing in the bathroom... Things were looking pretty good right now. It wouldn't be too terribly hard to move the sparse furniture she had into her (and she was rather certain that she could just about fit everything else into a suitcase still).

Celia was locking the door to the apartment when a soft looking middle-aged lady came up behind her and asked if she was going to be the new tenant. When Celia responded yes, that she was here to be closer to her job, the woman took a small step backwards and asked if she was going to be working for "The little pawn shop with the raven". Now slightly confused, Celia responded yes again, and the woman simply excused herself and walked hurriedly away. How odd. Perhaps she had a fear of ravens? Or maybe the woman suspected that Celia was a Meta and didn't want to take any chances... Or she could just be another eccentric person in the city. They did seem to be everywhere these days.

Celia did make sure to eat, and then wrote a letter to the landlord to notify him that she would be leaving within two weeks. After looking over her slightly water-stained lease, Celia discovered that she was still going to have to pay for the next month's rent for here. As she wouldn't have to be paying for rent on the other apartment, it was certainly something she could live with. It would take a bit of effort to get utilities switched over though, but again, something that was fully manageable. Celia flopped down onto her bed, and stared at the ceiling. Tomorrow would be a new day.

As usual, the twins were on the same wave-length and their digs at the villain before them showed that. She and Flood were in near total sync, the water swirling around them reacting almost without any kind of command. It hit the ink constructs and they collapsed... And, oddly enough, did not reform. Typhoon had been prepared to have to deal out more insults to try and distract the melanokinetic so that she and Tina could get behind his defenses and land a solid blow. However... She was was surprised when the ink did not form more constructs to try and kill her and her sister. Typhoon took her eyes off of the ink that did not move to find that Picasso was walking towards them. And he looked pissed. Before she knew it, the ink that had fallen to the ground began to move towards the man, swirling around him and enveloping his body in an inky black mass with only his face exposed. He was easily ten feet tall. No... Fifteen... Topping off at eighteen feet tall, he glowered at the twins who now had to tilt their heads to meet his gaze. "FRENCH?!?" he yelled. "You pathetic worms have no idea! I! AM! BELGIAN!" The yell became a roar. Picasso slammed a fist the size of a small boulder at the twins, the ink moving to cover his face, slamming a fist the size of a small boulder at the twins. This hit was obviously much more solid than the other constructs and a hell of a lot stronger. Typhoon pushed Flood out of the way and then back-flipped to avoid getting smooshed by the artist-turned-psychopath. This man clearly had more issues than what it seemed and it looked like being called 'French' was the trigger for his anger. Why? Could be any reason but at this point, it didn't matter. Trying not to get killed by the raging eighteen-foot manbeast took precedence over the reasons behind his rampage. The first hit was followed up by another and then several more after that. The inkman was going for an all-out offensive bullrush. All the creativity he had initially been yelling at them about seemed to have gone out the window and now he was operating off pure anger. And insanity. A lot of insanity. "Flood, combo number eight!" Typhoon yelled, ducking low to avoid being hit. Combo 8 was one of the combinations the twins had come up with in order to work seamlessly as a team. They had over fifty different combinations that they could use with their respective abilities and talents and when they used these combinations in tandem, they were quite powerful. Combo 8 involved them standing on either side of their target, front and back, and then they would move in unison, combining their hyrdokinesis with tai chi. As soon as Typhoon saw that Flood was standing behind the inkbeast, she tossed her staff to the side (a tendril of water stood up to catch it) and then she moved her arms and feet. Flood did the same. Water arched out from behind her and slammed into Picasso with the force of, well... Of a typhoon. From behind him, a second wave would hit.

User Image"I'll warm you up b***h!" yelled Shock as she got to her feet, though Lux noted that it seemed she had a little trouble doing so. There was blood running down the side of the criminals face but it didn't last long, as a jolt of electricity ran down the injury, cauterizing it shut. Lux felt herself tense up, automatically going into a defensive position when Shock threw her hands out to the side, energy shooting to her from the walls, her body sucking it up in much the same manner that Luxes body did when she absorbed light. s**t. The extracted energy swirled around Shock but Lux realized rather quickly that it wasn't a display of power but rather the villain had pulled too much energy and her body couldn't contain it all at once. When Shock opened her eyes, Lux saw that they were completely white. She doubted the other female was blind, however, and that it was simply a side-affect of her powers in much the same way that Luxes eyes turned a sparkling, shining gold when she was completely powered up and the way Noxes eyes turned completely and totally black when she succumbed to her powers. Shock threw her hands at Lux, a stream of energy shooting out, rushing towards the white-haired heroine. As it moved, it took on a shape... But not just any shape... The shape of a Chinese dragon, jaws open wide. The heroine could pretty much figure that getting bitten by the monster wouldn't result in a puncture wound or crushing damage but a transfer of a ******** of electricity, to put it lightly. As the dragon lunged forward, attempting to swallow her, Lux jumped to the side, going down in a roll and coming up in a crouch as the dragon circled back and attacking as it emerged from Shock's hands. Eventually it stopped growing and Shock devoted her energy to keeping the beast strong and focused on Lux. Shitshitshitshit. Lux tucked and rolled again, taking the second of the three microbeads that Drift had given her out of her belt and breaking it. The light flowed into her body, seeming to enter her chest, about where her heart would be. Her power was near full but it wasn't enough. If she wanted a chance to beat Shock, she had to be at full strength... Her only choice was to use the last microsphere. The remains of the second were tossed away and the third pulled out, broken open just like the last two. The light flowed into her and Luxes eyes began to glow golden, the pupils and irises disappearing within the glow. Her eyes met Shock's momentarily before golden armor formed over her body, a sword and shield materializing within her grasp. If Shock wanted to play, she would oblige her. Lux slashed at the dragon and then backed up, getting it to follow her. Shock wasn't terribly accurate with the dragon and it nearly hit several other people during their fights, including Nox, who simply jumped over the tail and continued going with her fight with Zephyr. It wasn't long after that that Lux lost sight of those two. Another slash at the Chinese dragon made of electricity, leading it back, away from where it might hurt the others. "You want to play with the big leagues, honey?" sneered the usually kind heroine. "I hope you can keep up." Shock was easily angered and it wouldn't be hard to imagine that she'd hurt herself if pushed enough. With a slice of the sword she carried, she managed to slice the tip of the dragon's nose, enraging it. She ducked behind the shield as it attacked again, electricity ricocheting off the gleaming golden surface before she bashed the creature in the nose. The shield, light as it looked, was quite heavy and when she hit the dragon with it, it also let out a blast of energy that knocked the creature back a bit. With those few brief seconds, Lux also jumped, spun, and kicked, unleashing a blast of light from her kick that headed straight for Shock. It was time to really see if this girl had what it took to defeat a Challenger.

Zephyr matched her, blow for blow, each kick and punch powered to unheard of proportions with their respective abilities. Every time they collided, the parking bay shook with small explosions. It was a good thing that none of her own teammates were in her way because, at this point, Nox wasn't about to start pulling her punches to protect anyone. Zephyr was going down, no matter what it took. After exchanging many blows, Nox managed to connect with a kick, her booted foot slamming into Zephyr's chest and causing him to fly backwards. She jumped over the tail of the dragon that Shock had created and leapt forward to attack again, only to be hit in the chest. The breath left her body as Zephyr spear-tackled her with enough power that they broke through the wall of the parking bay and landed on the street outside, which was thankfully devoid of people. Being as they were in the warehouse district, there were not usually a lot of people around but there were quite a few large tractor trailers, semi-trailers, and all manner of large machinery present. Nox disappeared in a swirl of shadows and reappeared in the same spot, only standing. The shadows pulsed and quivered, telling her where everything was located and her head snapped to the side the second she picked up where Zephyr had gone. A tornado formed under one of the trucks, picking it up and launching it at the heroine. Nox scowled. So he wanted to play that game did he? Couldn't destroy her by ripping about her innards so he was going to try and crush her... Well. He'd find she was a hard target to hit. Even before the truck had fully left the ground, Nox vanished and then darkness beneath a truck condensed and thickened before shooting upwards, sling-shotting the trailer into the air. The two trucks collided in the air, hitting so hard that the metal essentially fused together and she knew that, when they were examined later, it would be nearly impossible to tell that the mass of metal that had now cracked the concrete had once been two separate semi's.

Nox shot forward, nearly a blur, to collide with Zephyr. They were hitting each other so hard that a lesser person would have died from the impact but neither seemed to truly feel it... If they even got hit at all. Nox blocked many of Zephyr's hits and he did the same to her, both using their abilities to their advantage. She knew that eventually one of them would tire and fail, get hit and fall, and then the fight would be over. <"Will I kill him... Should I come out victorious?"> she wondered, almost as if the thought was semi-amusing or perhaps as though she wouldn't truly consider it, should that happen to be the case. Zephyr attempted to punch her in the face and Nox ducked, slamming her own fist, cloaked in shadows, into his chest, feeling the bones groan in protest. The fool. She was going to destroy him, no matter the cost. Darkness appeared beneath her boots and she rocketed forward. With the close quarters they had been fighting in, how close they were to each other, the force of the hit would surely have broken something in both of them. Instead they both went down in a heap, only to disengage and collide again. He was good, she gave him that much. Her hand-claw had long since dissolved, as it was more cumbersome than she wanted it to be and she needed all the movement she could get. The scythe was nowhere to be seen but could be pulled from the shadows at any moment. The shadow-wielding heroine scowled, using the iron lungs technique to block a kick from him before delivering a crushing roundhouse; whether it injured him or not was a different story but the force of the kick lifted him off his feet and shot him practically half-way across London... An impossible feat for anyone but her it seems. The recoil from this kick was a sonic boom that shook the warehouse, causing dust to fall from the ceiling. Zephyr would collide with a sky-scraper, one of the older models that were stone and steel instead of glass and steel and then he'd be hit again. To anyone watching, it would appear as though a black hole had opened up in the sky and something had shot from it so quickly that they couldn't even tell what it was. Nox slammed into Zephyr and they broke through the wall of the skyscraper, tumbling into what appeared to be an office. He grabbed her by her neck and threw her back out, using his abilities to aid him. She didn't hit the ground by conventional means of course, no that would make it too easy for him. Right before Nox hit the ground, tendrils of darkness rose from the ground and enveloped her, her body seeming to sink into them as though the darkness was ink. She emerged from it a moment later, the darkness holding her aloft, tendrils swaying about her like extra arms. Her own were held out to her side for a moment until she shot them forward; the tendrils of darkness slammed forward with the force of a speeding train, each aiming to impale Zephyr.

When Jack stood up Diana shrank a little back away from him but she continued standing where she was, looking now up at Jack's face. "You're 'sorry' you helped a psychopath kidnap and lie to a teenager with enough of her own problems? You're 'sorry' that your common sense didn't happen to catch up to you until after Sid tried to kill us and blew up your house?" The instant Jack went from speaking loudly to shouting Diana shut her eyes tightly and turned her head lowering it to the side so her cheek was almost touching her shoulder and she leaned a bit back, trying to get further away from Jack. In her experience when someone shouted at you, you'd get hit. "Well sorry doesn't cut it Diana! Your apologies aren't worth a damn thing to me! You had every chance in the world to warn Cosette; I know Sid wasn't home as much as he probably wanted to be. You could've told her what was going on, warned her, dropped hints even. But did you? NO! Instead, you spent your time smoking cigarettes, cooking, and healing Sid without a second thought. So don't give me any of this remorse or these apologies. I don't want to hear them! Because you failed to ******** use common sense and instead of working as a waitress or a nurses aid, and went traipsing around with a killer instead, Cosette might be dead!"
Diana waited for the blow that never came and suddenly Jack brushed past her and the healer slowly opened her eyes and stood there for a few seconds blinking from confusion but feeling immense relief, someone had shouted at her with out beating her up during or after the shouting was over.

Then the teenage girl thought over what Jack had said and the feeling of relief was swept away and replaced by worry, concern, doubt and a little bit of anger.
Turning around Diana quickly spotted where Jack was standing and moved a little closer to him, but not too close. For all she knew he might end up hitting her anyway though the fear of being hit did not stop the young meta from speaking up. "What do you mean Cosette could be dead? And why do you say that the house has been blown up? How do you know that and how can you be sure?"

Diana waited patiently for Jack to giver her his answer and once she had it the healer stood there for a few moments thinking things over. 'Sid planted bombs in the house? No, he couldn't, he wouldn't.. I won't believe this with out proof. I must go see this for myself as well as find out where Cosette is.' Suddenly her stomach grumbled loudly and Diana grimaced. 'Once I have eaten those noodles.' Then she looked back to where Jack was standing and suddenly a stubborn look came over her face.
"I know you're angry but would you please sit back down before you faint and injure yourself more?" When he turned to look at her Diana gave him a softer look before adding. "Please?" Once Jack was back on the sofa Diana gave him a determined look before she said. "Cosette is alive and we will find her." With that she went back into the kitchen where the water in the kettle had boiled and she poured it over the noodles and grabbed herself a fork before moving over to the kitchen table.

For a few moments Diana sat there in silence, poking at the noodles with her fork as she waited for the food to be ready for her to eat. Then she drew in a deep breath before she looked in the direction of the living room, at the back of the sofa Jack was in. "This might sound too hard to believe but Sid was actually kinda nice to Cosette and me. Yes he lied to her but at least he treated her with kindness and made sure she had everything she needed. And he never shouted at either one of us nor did he ever hit us or abuse us in anyway." Diana then swallowed and took in a deep breath before she continued as she turned her head too look back down at the bowl of noodles. "It's easy for you to put yourself on the high horse and judge me for my actions but you don't know the full story, you don't know anything about me and my life. You say Cosette has problems, well she's not the only one."
Diana's voice was soft and neutral the entire time she spoke but she poked fiercely with her fork at the noodles in front of her though once she had finished talking she still wrapped noodles around her fork and stuffed into her mouth.

The light heroine dodged the dragon's first attack quite nimbly, but Shock didn't care, eventually the b***h would be caught and die. She cracked a couple of more spheres, getting more light... like it mattered, she could power up all she wanted, Shock would always be stronger! Just because light girl's eyes started glowing too didn't mean a thing!

That likely was not true, as Celeste had yet to sustain any major damage, and Shock was hurting herself and getting hurt by her own teammates. She didn't need them though, she had this and was only hurt because they couldn't stay out of her way. People always got in her path, cutting her off or trying to protect her. It was high time they all realized just how strong she really was!

Two sets of glowing eyes met, one full of rage and the other simply holding power. Armor materialized over Lux, which made Shock grin. "You want to be the dragonslayer? Bring it!" she yelled, bringing the dragon back around; it passed through a steel beam and melted the outside of it; that was how intense the energy was. Lux danced around her creature, slashing at it and not doing any damage, which made Shock grin even wider, revealing a bloody mouth full of teeth.

"You want to play with the big leagues, honey?" .

"I hope you can keep up."

With that the b***h sliced again at the dragon... this was no construct like the dumb artist's monsters, this was simply her energy being focused into an attack, so the slices couldn't hurt it... eventually the energy would reach her and shoot through her system. Or so Shock thought, the shield bash proved her wrong as it threatened to dissipate the energy. Shock redoubled her efforts, pulling the dragon back from the attack and keeping it bound together.

It was only after she did this that she noticed the heroine jumping and unleashing a kick that sent a blast of light right at her. The dragon rushed back and met the blast, energy hitting energy and causing yet another explosion, which sent Shock flying backwards.

Miss James had to duck, but kept her fingers on JC's throat. "Insolent child! Focus!" Miss James yelled.

Shock hit the ground hard, rolling until she hit the wall, and was slow to come to her feet... well, until Miss James yelled at her. "I AM NOT A CHILD! I WILL MURDER YOU ALL!" Shock roared. Electricity ripped up out of the ground across the parking bay, creating cracks over where the lines had been buried, but this time they did not shoot to Shock. Instead they all flew at Miss James, threatening to kill her and JC. Shock didn't seem to care who she killed anymore.

It did beg the question... were all OWC metaagents this mentally unstable?

As they exchanged blows, Zephyr could feel his own body groaning in protest... his ability really wasn't meant to be used this sort of action. He used the air in place of his own body when landing a lot of blows, letting the force come from that, otherwise he'd break his hands and feet fighting this hard. It was a matter of working out how to use his ability to go above and beyond his limitations. Sure, others were invulnerable, some shot lasers from their eyes, but Zephyr was the best for a reason. Perhaps the only reason the Challengers had not faced him before was that he had been needed elsewhere for the group.

His biggest assignment recently had been to clear out a large group people from the coast in India so that a team could go in and get to work removing some assets and such. He had worked up a hurricane, and quite a severe one, which prompted mass evacuations. The rest of the mission had been a success, but he hadn't really cared what the others did; he did his job, did it well, and was rewarded quite handsomely. What he didn't know was that it let OWC agents in to bug several secret military and nuke bases... again, he had not cared but still worked up an impressive display of power.

Now though, this fight had his interest above and beyond just wanting to have a bit of fun and get paid. He needed to not only prove he was better than this girl, but he was going to finally maybe see just how far he could push himself. Killing someone without getting up was all good and well, but it didn't say much. This fight... the OWC secret weapon was going to be in the public view, and they would fear him.

He went for a blow to her jaw, only to get caught with a wicked punch to the chest. Luckily for him, he was not really someone who you could knock the wind out of, as that would only open him up to getting ripped apart. She launched at him and he met her attacks, resulting in them colliding and disengaging once again. She blocked his kick before delivering a strong one of her own. He was so focused on keeping the force of it from killing him that he was launched practically across the city by it. As he swirled air around himself in a cushion, he painfully went through an old school rock and steel building, only for her to come and collide again with him.

He fought her off, blocking her attacks as they went through some more walls, landing in an office where a man had evidently been napping; hell of a way to wake up. He gave a startled cry, but neither hero nor villain frankly seemed to give a damn as they reengaged in their fight. He grabbed her by her neck and threw her out of the office before shooting off after her. She didn't hit the ground, instead she sunk into some shadows for a moment before rising up out of them, the tentacles staying with her. "That's so not a good look." he chuckled at her; even after all this he still was cracking jokes? What would it take for him to stop laughing and joking?

Then the tentacles shot at him, aiming no doubt to impale him and end him... fat chance. He disappeared into the air, before reappearing next to Nox, grabbing her by her throat and tossing her high up into the sky. An orb of swirling air appeared around her, crushing inwards and forcing her to use the shadows to not get enveloped. Sure, air might not crush her, but how long would she last caught in two hundred mile per hour winds? She would get ripped apart. the air was moving so fast that the clouds around them were pushed outwards, leaving an odd clear patch in the sky above London; they were quite high up at this point.

The orb disappeared and Zephyr appeared behind her, grabbing her cowl and throwing her hard by it; only for it to give away and for her to not be tossed quite as hard as he had intended, but still enough to send her flying through the air. Zephyr reappeared in front of her as she flew, delivering a crushing blow to send her flying down towards the Thames below, long ponytail whipping in the wind behind her. The water swirled under where she would have hit, except for she caught herself with her shadows. It kept her from getting wet, but it didn't look like it had left her in a very good spot. After all, looking around, she would see the water churning across the entire eight hundred foot width of the river...not a good sign.

Suddenly, the water ripped upwards all around her, multiple water spouts... no, water tornadoes, pulling up into the sky and swirling around her; Zephyr reformed high above her, looking down with his arms held wide. The churning water moved so quickly that the flow of the river was beginning to back up, and eventually start pushing the other direction. Multiple boats overturned, and traffic on nearby roads came to a quick stop at the sight of the massive swirling water tornadoes. More than a few people began to panic and flee, not wanting to get caught in whatever this was. After all, it could hardly be good... masses of shadows, tornadoes ripping through buildings? Hardly a good thing.

His arms were still held out wide, and he almost looked like a man on a cross, before he clapped his arms together and the water spouts followed suit; forty thousand gallons, one hundred and sixty tons of water coming crashing down on her. The sheer weight of the water would threaten to obliterate her, leaving no trace of a body to be found. Well, no recognizable trace.

Kayleb's eyes darted around the room, searching for signs of Ravage and where she could possibly have gone too. The smoke from the smoke-bomb was already dissipated enough o tell him that she was not in there, so where did she go while he was distracted and helping Sheera? He pulled an arrow from the quiver, and held it near the bow though he did not yet knock it. He just started to turn his head to look to the ceiling when suddenly a flare of pain shattered through his back. He cringed, but didn't scream out in pain or even really look like it hurt terribly bad. He's had far worse in his life than a blade stabbing into his back. Hell, only earlier today his arm practically shredded itself to bits as he healed Will, this blade was nothing.

He started to reach back, to pull the blade out of himself but the woman was already moving to his front, pulling the chain to taunt for him to be able to easily pull it out. But,she did the idiotic thing and stood easily within arms reach. She may have thought she had the upper hand, but she had no idea. Jr was closing in now that she reappeared and most, if not all, of her attention was focused on Kayleb at the moment.

Time to distract and disarm. For the moment, he wore the perfect expression of nigh intolerable pain, to make her think she was winning, it seemed to work as a highly amused look crossed her eyes, indicating a wicked smile that kayleb couldn't see and she obviously readied herself to taunt him further. His wing may have been pinned to his back, but his hands were still free, so while she taunted at him, Kayleb shifted his stance and jerked backwards, pulling Ravage even closer to himself. For now ignoring the new stab of pain from the blade ripping a bit through his back because of the movement, he pushed himself forward closer into Ravage and punched her square in the face with the hand that held the bow of light. The punch was only made worse by the fact she was half stumbling towards him and he pushed forward to close the small amount of space between the two.

Next, while Ravage only momentarily reeled from the punch, Kayleb stabbed the arrow he still held in his other hand, into one of the links of the chain of Ravage's weapon. The small arrow tip exploded, shattering the chain and disarming the woman. Even before the small explosion, Jr was already throwing in his next attack.

Tina watched with wary eyes as all the ink constructs simply melted away and made their way back to Picasso and enveloped the man.It swirled about him, ever growing untill it was nearly 20 feet tall, and suddenly, he started a headlong bullrush towards the two. Tina was mildly surprised, but ready none the less. She moved to push Amanda out of the way of the incoming attacks just as Amanda started to push her. They both twirled away from one another, narrowly avoiding the giant fists of the ink Titan.

In unison, both sisters yelled to the other to "use combo number eight", and if it hadn't been such a dire time, they would have likely laughed at eachother. Instead, they both smiled grimly amused smiles as they threw away their staffs, both of which were caught by tendrils of water, as they started to move in perfect harmony to sway the water to their wills. Water was ripped from the pipes throughout the building, most had been exposed by the various fights so it was not at all a difficult task to aquire the amounts needed.

Once all the water that was needed was swirling around, it split in half equally between the two hydrokinetics and rushed in two towering walls on either side towards the giant titan that was Picasso.

User ImageJust as Lux expected, Shock sent the dragon rushing forward to meet the blast of light that she had sent her way and the result was another explosion that sent Shock flying backwards. The light-wielding heroine used the shield she carried to protect herself from the blast, crouching low behind it and planting her feet in order to weather the shock that came from it. Her heart nearly stopped when she realized just how close the criminal had come to hitting the illusionist, who thankfully ducked, her fingers still on JC's throat. "Insolent child! Focus!" shrieked the illusionist. Lux emerged from behind her shield and watched as Shock hit the ground and rolled until coming into contact with the wall. The shield and sword dissipated, along with the armor that the white-haired heroine had created to protect herself from the dragon's electric bite, and she watched as Shock climbed to her feet; she was moving slower than she had initially and that told the her that the OWC criminal didn't have the kind of strength to keep up with someone who knew how to keep their emotions under control. Had Shock been more like Sheera, emotion-wise, Lux doubted she would've fared so well thus far. At Miss James words, Shock was quicker to get to her feet. "I AM NOT A CHILD! I WILL MURDER YOU ALL!" roared the criminal. Luxes eyes widened slightly behind her mask as electricity was ripped up out of the ground from all over the parking bay, cracks forming where the lines had been buried. This time, however, the energy did not go to Shock for her to absorb and use. Instead, it was released at Miss James, threatening to kill her and, what was worse, JC. Clearly Shock didn't care who she killed anymore, even if the people she was hurting were her own teammates. It really did beg the question... were all OWC agents this mentally unstable?

Lux didn't have time to give that any thought, however. If she didn't act fast, JC would be killed by this tantruming meta. She scowled and in a flash, stood between Miss James, JC, and the blast of electricity headed their way. Lux put her hands down, palms flat towards the floor, and then brought them up again like a conductor preparing to cue an orchestra. A shimmering golden wall seemed to erupt from the floor and spread in a semi-circle around Lux, the illusionist, and JC. Even though Miss James was the cause of JC's suffering, the Game had made it clear that if anything happened to the illusionist, JC's mind would be lost forever. And she couldn't let that happen. The shock wave hit the wall and there was a brief moment when Lux thought the shield she had erected would break. She grit her teeth and placed her palms against the shield, pushing it, keeping it in place. As soon as the wave passed, the shield disappeared and Lux rocketed forward, slamming into Shock with all her might. She gripped the other female by the front of her uniform, lifting her into the air before bringing her other fist, wrapped in a golden sheath studded with glowing white spikes, and slamming it into Shock's jaw, releasing her uniform at the same instant. The result was a hit that sent the other female flying across the parking bay. Lux took a breath and then, in a flash, she was in the air just behind Shock's soaring body. "Hng...!" A slight grunt emerged from Luxes body as she brought her leg down, slamming it into the OWC agent and causing her to crash into the ground below them. "Get up," ordered the white-haired heroine. "Put your money where your mouth is sweetheart. If you don't want to be called a child, prove that b***h wrong and beat me. Kill me."

Dangerous? Oh, certainly. It wasn't smart to taunt enemies who were clearly unhinged... But Shock had already proved that being called a child was her trigger. She was rash and acted on instinct. She was injured and bleeding. The worst Lux had were severe electrical burns that had shown red through the holes in her uniform and she still had plenty of energy to work with. Could Shock say the same?

Jr watched as Ravage had disappeared and and began an attack at Kayleb, everything happened so fast and he was quickly caught of guard from her attack as he hesitated. Something seemed weird, Kayleb wasn't freaking out and to him he seemed calmed. Jr quickly shook his head glaring at her through his goggles. Jr glanced around seeing everyone fighting still. 'Need to do something..' he ran towards Ravage and Kayleb his eyes glowing brighter, he was going to use 'it''. "J.A.I.. Send it!" "Gotcha boss!" the ai said over his personal comm. Meanwhile at the base in Jr's room the window shot opened and a giant blue sphere rushed out going at a sonic speed It shook the building leaving a loud boom noise as if an explosion wen't off. As the sphere made it's way to their destination Jr removed his goggles and took out a small contact lens container. He opened it and put in the contacts tossing his goggles to the side. His face was still concealed from a black mask that surrounded his eyes. He had perfect vision and he saw the area as if he was looking through the eyes of a monitor. It showed density of the ground, heart rate of people including any electrical signatures in the area which we're mainly Shock's. Jr snapped his fingers as the sphere came crashing through the room shaking the build and opening containing various parts. Without any hesitation Jr synced his augmentation ability with his kinesis as various blue prints and models appeared in his vision, unable to be seen from anyone else since it was on the contacts themself. He scrolled through them swiftly stopping at a machine that looked like a wind tunnel.

Jr snapped his fingers and within seconds two identical cannon like guns flew next to Jr. He grinned as Ravage was struck in the face and the weapon was disarmed. With another snap of his fingers a force field projected around Kayleb protecting him from any damage and rooting him temporarily so he wouldn't go flying off from the shot of the cannon but this was a perfect opportunity to nail Ravage. "Cover your ears Falcon." he warned in the comm as a loud sonic boom echoed throughout the building shaking it as a ring of wind shot towards Ravage nailing her which sent her flying into a close by wall. He knew it wasn't going to be nearly enough to kill her or get rid of her, but the impact from the blast would at least cause a few broken bones and her hearing disabled. Jr's body continued to release a light red electric sparks which indicated his augmentation as still active and it wasn't dying down anytime soon. Jr knew he had to do something for Kayleb and what a better way to test this now..

Jr cycled through his blueprints and within seconds he built a mini masquito like insect bot with a long metal funnel and a attena on it's back. It flew over to Kayleb sticking a needle in his skin carefully and began to glow red. From his vision he could see the words 'Meta Gene Located, Synchronization Ready.' And within seconds Jr had augmented Kayleb's abilities. Kayleb would not only feel stronger, but he would feel as if he gained a whole new control of his abilities and would feel as if they changed in some way.

Before her next attack had a chance to connect, Zephyr disappeared. Nox didn't have a chance to stop attacking, she had been so close to nailing his a** to the wall, and so there was nothing she could do when he reappeared next to her, catching her by the throat and tossing her high into the air. The shadow-wielder tried to get her bearings but before she could, a swirling vortex of air condensed around her, crushing inwards to try and smother her. Nox growled, shadows whipping around her and pushing outwards, cocooning her in some modicum of safety. Sure, the air wouldn't crush her but with the speeds it was going at... It'd rip her to pieces. She could only fathom how high up they were now... Without warning, the swirling vortex of air disappeared and she began to fall... Only to have Zephyr appear behind her and grab her cowl, tossing her as hard as he could. However, the cowl slipped off her head, allowing all of her hair to fall out and the throw to be not quite as hard as he had likely originally planned but still enough to send her flying through the air at a fairly high velocity. Before Nox could react, Zephyr was in front of her again, where he delivered a crushing blow that sent her down towards the Thames River, hair snapping in the wind as she fell. Had she hit the water, Nox knew that several bones would have ended up breaking and that would have certainly given Zephyr and edge over her, an edge she wasn't willing to give him. Shadows snapped forward from boats anchored nearby and caught her, forming a net to first stop her fall before enveloping her and standing vertical, retracting to show her standing just above the churning surface of the water. Her hair blew in the wind, the blindfold the only remaining piece of headwear she had now. However, despite being caught by her abilities and hadn't ended up at the bottom of the river, she still wasn't in a very good position. Noxes head swept from side to side, taking in the fact that the entire river, the eight hundred foot wide span, was churning and frothing.

                                              Not a good sign.

Nox took a step back as the water was ripped upwards from the river all around her, forming multiple water spouts... No, that was wrong. They weren't simply water spouts... They were cyclones. Water tornadoes, pulled up into the sky, each swirling almost lazily around her. Her gaze went skyward as Zephyr reformed high above her, looking down with his arms held wide. She could practically feel him grinning smugly from where she stood far below him, secure on her platform of inky shadows. The water was churning and moving so fast that the flow of the Thames was beginning to back up, not taking long at all to begin pushing in the other directions. Boats began to overturn and traffic on the nearby roads came to a halt as people caught sight of the swirling vortexes of water that reached up from the river as though to impale the sky. Pedestrians began to panic and flee, not wanting to get caught in whatever was going on. Even in a world where metas were becoming more and more prominent, masses of shadows and tornadoes ripping through buildings was hardly an average sight and definitely not a good thing. Zephyr's arms were held out to his sides and he almost looked like a man who had been hung on a cross... Then he clapped his hands together and the water spouts followed his command like an orchestra obeying their conductor; forty thousand gallons, one hundred and sixty tons of water came crashing down over the heroine. The sheer weight of the water would be enough to tear her apart, even with the aid of her abilities, and there would be no trace that she had ever been there... At least, no recognizable trace. As the water frothed and bubbled around the shadow-wielder, it would appear, upon first glance, that Zephyr had just won... Until, upon closer inspection, the swirling vortex of water began to shake and shiver, contorting and twisting a way that was almost seizure-like in nature. A dark... glow appeared within the center of the water that that Zephyr had just dropped onto Nox.

Within the churning water stood the Challenger. She was slightly hunched over, her arms tucked close to her body, head bent... And then she tossed her head back, arms going to her sides, fists pointed to the ground, back arching. Shadows expanded from her chest, pulsing and pushing outwards before exploding out of the water, taking shape to form a massive black bird, the size of a jet-liner, its beak and claws hooked as razors. The bird spread its wings for a moment, water showering off its shadowed plumage before it shrieked and dove at Zephyr devolving into a massive, jagged black spear that arched over the Thames with the force of a level five hurricane. Zephyr split it down the middle, just barely missing getting hit. However, as soon as the shadow-bird had dove at Zephyr, Nox had crouched and then rocketed forward, a sonic boom echoing along the Thames, and she was close on its tail when he split the attack down the middle. She pulled her fist back and slammed it into his jaw, causing him to crash into what was, momentarily, a dry riverbed. She was on the ground with him just long enough to grip him by the front of his uniform before she pulled tossed him into the air, crouching and launching herself after him. "Hng...!" a slight grunt as she spun and delivered a punishing kick, one that sent him flying horizontally across the city again. Nox disappeared in a swirled of darkness and reappeared behind him, bringing her clenched fists down onto Zephyrs back. He was slammed down towards the ground but she reappeared beneath him, tendrils of inky darkness reaching up from the ground around her feet and wrapping around the man. Like a conductor, she put her arms up and then moved them. The shadows reacted accordingly, slamming Zephyr into nearby buildings and the ground, cracking the sides of the buildings and effectively destroying the roads and sidewalks. He managed to slice through the shadows and then tried to attack her, a sharp blast of wind sent directly at her as the shadows dropped him.

Nox was enveloped in darkness and disappeared, leaping from the ground beneath him, using shadows to launch him upwards before being launched forwards herself, slamming into him with her whole body. The force of the hit sent them even further and they hit the side of the Tower of London, cracking the outer wall. Nox gripped Zephyr by the throat and tossed him towards the ground before jumping after him, long black hair snapping in the wind, fist drawn back to catch his jaw again and maybe even shatter it. However... He disappeared before he hit the ground. Nox hit the ground but was not injured; shadows swallowed her and she stepped out of the side of the Tower, head cocked, waiting, listening, watching for Zephyr to attack again. She wiped blood from her split lip, flicking it away without a second glance, the sound of her boots on the ground all that she could hear. <"Tricky b*****d. I'm going to rip his face off."> A harsh kick to her chest knocked the wind from her body and sent her flying back into the side of the Tower. Noxes head cracked against the stone and she saw stars for a moment before having the sense to use the Tower's shadow to her advantage. She seemed to sink into the side of the building, disappearing from sight entirely... A powerful kick slammed into Zephyr's back, knocking him face first into the same space that she had just hit herself. Nox dove after him, shadows arching up around her, the tips sharp, prepared to, quite literally, nail him to the wall.
