Also, I'm pretty sure I've been accepted. The head of the department emailed me saying she sent over the Departmental Acceptance Form to the grad school office. I'm just waiting on an official email from the grad school. whee

@Ophelia; The great thing about linguistics is that you look at the components of language in a scientific manner, so you don't necessarily have to know how to speak a foreign language. However, I do wish I could speak another language. I was learning German but stopped. Now, I'm trying Dutch because I'm fickle. It's been a week since I last practiced, so I'm going to have to redo all the lessons. {I'm using duolingo.com.}

I've forgotten a lot. All I can remember are things like, "Ik spreek geen Nederlands" or, "Zij ********* een krant." {i.e., "I don't speak Dutch," and "They have a newspaper."}
