1. Forming 30 Seconds to Mars with Jared Leto's big brother, drummer Shannon Leto, saved Shannon's life.
2. Shannon was a druggie, and Jared saved him from it.
3. They never met their dad.
4. Their mom had Shannon when she was 17, and Jared afterwards.
5. The dad left them.
6. He committed suicide.
7. They lived all over the country cuz their mom ran away from home.
8. They grew up poor.
9. Music and art got the brothers through it.
10. They hated school with a passion.
11. They were trouble makers and always got sent to the principal.
12. They stole cars, went to jail, etc.

How is this not sad?

17 yr old girl has a son named Shannon.
18 months later, she has another son named Jared.
The father leaves them and kills himself.
The sons never met him.
Their mom took them with her and ran away from her poverty life, living in cars and such.
The boys always got in trouble and grew up struggling.
Music helped them get through it.

Um. What? Growing up, they worked their asses off for everything they have today. I don't know about Shannon, but Jared got a job at age 11 to help the family.

As a fan, I wouldn't say their story is inspirational. It's just a good thing they pulled their heads out of their asses and made some rad tunes. Oh and movies.

As a fan of them I must say this is very inspiring me. I mean to see that Jared and Shannon found a way to fight through all the rough times gives their fans hope to fight their issues. I used to have serious depression, and suicidal thoughts but hearing about what Jared and Shannon went through helped me out a lot. Also the fact that they where just simple people with nothing much gives me hope that I can make it into a big ballet company. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but to hear some people saying such rude things really bothers me. You should never call out someone's idol because sometimes that idol is the only reason that person is still living.
