The reason for how outgoing and open he's become as he grew older is because of the exact opposite way he and others had been forced to live before acceptance for LGBTQ (and demons) became prominent and widespread among the humans of his world. Seeing how things worked out and becoming the voice for the movement was such a influential and life-shaping thing for him that it greatly affected his view on life and his interactions with those around him.

He was also one of the main reasons humans became more ok with demons overall.

The dragon serves not only as a protector and guide, but something of a spirit animal or the personification of their soul. He's able to command it separately and sometimes without having to issue verbal commands, though it does get exhausting and leave a large amount of strain on him

Every so often, they develop a nasty, scalelike skin condition. Though they're extremely loyal to their mistress, they hesitate to call for their assistance on such a trivial matter as skin care. They are fortunate that it passes within a week or so.
