Any manga you've read that has a lot of details in the art?
One that comes into mind is Berserk. The amount of details put into it is amazing. From the boat to the sky, to the people. All meticulously drawn.
Nausicaa has some of the most detailed art ever, very intricate cross-hatching and attention.

Berserk, like you mentioned.

One Piece has beautiful backgrounds, very expansive and expressive.

Memories of Emanon, which goes for a realistic touch with cross-hatching again.

Osamu Tezuka's stuff, reading Apollo's Song right now and it's fairly detailed with the scenery.

Kaori Yuki's manga are always really stunning.

And even though I don't like most of her other work, Kaoru Mori's A Bride's Story will just make my jaw drop sometimes. The level of detail is just astounding.

Codger

20th century boys ! this manga was one of the best. many people wouldn't find it enjoyable but I did xP I remember when I started reading it, I stayed up for 2 days and a half without stepping out of my room :p

I second this. Also, CLAMP's work has a lot going on, especially in regard to fight scenes.
Bride of the Water God has
a tone of detail.

ID has killer fight scenes.
