According to the new testament, it is more godly to remain celibate than to marry.
Marrying should be the resort for those people who cannot remain celibate, lest they damn themselves to hell.

Actually, that's not God's word. That's Paul's (wasn't it?) personal opinion, and he says it's only his opinion.

He states he "speaks it of permission and not by command"
So he's essentially saying that "god didn't state this explicitly to me, but he agrees with this idea"

I took it to mean Active Angel failed, but now you bring it up, it is a bit ambiguous.

Old news is old.... though I'm trans, in defense of the Pope, it's his belief. Quite frankly, I'm not going to let some one else belief trump my sense of being. User Image
