Welcome to the Black Magick Casino!

We're a gambling thread that's not just dedicated to giving you a fun environment to bet your spare items, but to give you a place to hang out and talk with friends. We've been around for a long time, and we'd love if you joined us.
Just remember to read and abide by our rules (as well as the Gaian ToS), and have fun with it!

If you don't know where to start please feel free to ask anyone in the casino. We're a helpful lot and would be happy to assist you. If that's not enough you can scroll down to the Guidelines section at the bottom the next post. There you'll find a link to our journal which gives detailed steps on what to do. ^-^

January 1st, 2013::

Hello one and all! We are a casino that needs no introduction as many of you have already met us. Black Magick Casino is one of the oldest on Gaia and one of the most respected and it holds a special place in many of our hearts as the place where we made our first bet or the thread where we met our bestest of friends. For many of those people, both are true. As a testament to the greatness of this casino even people who are too young to have come here know of it from the stories told by the people who were there, those nostalgic tales of grand old times. Sadly we lay dormant for a couple years. But now we're back! With an all new staff who want to see this place grow to be as big as its name and a set of rules that have been updated with the times (since the old set was a little outdated).

In the spirit of second chances, we're doing a first in Gaia casino history: Our Blacklist has been wiped completely clean. Mostly this was done because it had become too large to handle but we also wanted a fresh start. True, this is mostly a symbolic gesture as the list was very old and most of those people have been banned by Gaia for their actions or left the site altogether. For others, it's a chance to not be the jerk that landed them on that list in the first place. And for those of you worried about this, please don't. We have a dedicated and experienced staff in place to make sure you have the best betting experience we can provide!

We're not saying welcome because, if we're saying anything at all, it's welcome back to The Black Magick Casino!

Last Rules Update: January 1st, 2013

Before You Bet:
♦ Follow the Gaia T.O.S.
♣ Your profile, post count & join date must be made public, whilst betting here.
♥ Your account MUST be at least 4 months old.
♠ You MUST have a minimum of 600 total posts to gamble here; this is not negotiable! No Exceptions! (Unless you are on the exceptions list.)
Exceptions: You must be a regular, who has lost or switched their main account. Subject to these rules are at the discretion of the admins. Please fill in a form located in the Exceptions section.
♦ DO NOT DELETE POSTS. EVER. Post deletion earns you a spot on the blacklist - NO exceptions. (There is an edit button!)

Mules:
♣ Absolutely no betting with mules in the casino. Trading from mules is fine though, just no betting!
♥ If you are temp. or perma banned from Gaia you may be permitted to bet with a mule. This is at the discretion of the casino staff.

Chillin’ in the Thread:
♠ Do not generate numbers unless in a bet. Additionally, if you are caught making rolls in other threads in an attempt to roll favorably in your bet you will be immediately blacklisted. This is a form of cheating and will not be tolerated.
♦ Tree Quoting (i.e. constantly quoting someone to the point that it gets so long it takes up half the page) MUST be kept to a minimum! Try to keep it under 4-5 posts in the quote box.
♣ The 'Peanut Gallery' Rule - Also known as the 'stfu' rule. Meaning, if a BMC staff member is in the thread you are not to butt into situations. Butting in will earn disciplinary action up to blacklisting.
♥ Addition to the Peanut Gallery Rule; If a staff member is not in the thread you may remind others of the rules if being broken. Warn, and if they repeat, report them.
♠ Drama will not be tolerated in this thread. If you start drama or are involved with it, you will be warned once. Probation for this offense ranges between 1 and 5 days. Blacklisting may occur.

Gambling Time:
♦ Scamming will get you reported and added to the blacklist.
♣ Vague wagers (such as: "everything on my avi", "all my gold", etc.) will not be legitimate and will be voided by the staff. Continuous attempts to bet with vague wagers will result in disciplinary action up to blacklisting.
♥ Do not get involved in more than 1 bet at a time, this gets confusing and starts arguments. This also means you MAY NOT confirm more than one bet at a time. Also, you may not be in two bets in separate casinos at the same time.
♠ Use your best judgment of time when making your bets. If you don't think you have the time to complete the bet and the trade, don't bet at all.
♦ Please remember to CONFIRM ALL BETS before rolling. This includes Double or Nothing bets! Confirmation means - Your opponent must reply & agree to all your terms before rolling commences.
♥ If you TIE with your opponent - you may NOT back out of the bet, unless you both agree that you want to end the bet. You must re-roll for the bet, whether it be with the same or new terms. Backing out without confirmation gets you on probation.
♠ We advise that you use a middleman for large bets. You may use any of the staff members or any member listed on our trustworthy middlemen list.
♦ If you enter/agree on a bet & your opponent does not roll/logs off - you have the right to void that bet after 10 minutes. If you suspect that your opponent logged out because you rolled a high number, please contact a staff member immediately.
♣ Bets made over Instant Messaging - If you are offered a bet via MSN,AIM,YAHOO,YIM, etc. and accept this bet you are to post who is involved in the bet, what is being bet, and the terms. If you do not post the conditions of the bet a staff member is permitted to void your bet and put you on probation.
♥ Legitimate bets only - Anything of GAIA ONLINE value only. Example;; Pixelated items & Gold, art, etc.

Art Bets:
♠ You must be on the Artists Exception List, in order to bet with art.
♦ If betting art, up to 3-5 art bets ( depending on style ) at one time until completion.
♣ W.I.P.S. ( or Work In Progress ) must be shown if a few days are passing before the art is completed and handed out to the winner of the bet.
♥ You must communicate with the person who won your art, do not ignore PM's from them if they are asking for progress!
♠ When betting art - members must be made aware of the time frame that you will complete their work in & accept it. Any bets without this info can be void by a moderator.
This will become a binding contract, work must be completed within the time frame specified.
♦ Any member who bets with a person who is not on the artists exception list - Does this at their own risk. And will subsequently forfeit the right for BMC to be involved in the matter if it turns bad.

You Lose:
♣ If you lose a bet, you have a maximum of 30 minutes to send and complete the trade, unless otherwise worked out. We understand that some circumstances cannot be helped. Contact a staff member asap if you've been placed on probation for not sending a trade in time.
♥ Do NOT send items through the gifting system - When sending an item after a loss, please only send the item through trade. DO NOT send it through gifting. We're not responsible for items not being received via gifting.

Sportsmanship:
♠ Do not pressure a person into betting. If they do not want to use your betting terms, play without a middleman, do Double or Nothing, or bet a particular item, they do not have to.
♦ Don't rush others while in a bet. It's understandable if you give a reminder after say...5-10 minutes of bet inactivity, or if they are posting without rolling, but do not rush someone for the sake of rushing.
♣ You may not get angry at another member because you lost a bet. Imposing guilt or actively attempting to discourage an opponent is harassment. This includes any member who gets involved in the argument. Disciplinary action up to blacklisted may occur.

Giftbacks:
♥ Giftbacks are NOT mandatory! It is a nice gesture that everyone appreciates but is not something you absolutely must do.
♠ Typical giftbacks are 10% of the bet amount but this is entirely up to you. You may give more, less, or nothing at all if you choose.
♦ You are not allowed to force/bully a member into giving you a giftback.
♣ You are not to put in your signature, post formats, posts, etc. what you require as a giftback or that you don't bet people who don't giftback or anything else along those lines.
♥ You are not to make a member feel inferior when you do not receive a giftback or receive one that isn't up to your requirements.

Spam/Begging:
♠ You may not badger other members in this forum for items or gold (i.e. begging!). This is not a charity!
♦ Do not advertise your quests, charities, other casinos, etc. in this thread. Signature advertisement is fine. If another user specifically asks you to provide a link please PM it to them.

Black Lists:
♣ If you land yourself on the black list, you CANNOT get removed (unless you have a really good reason) and you cannot play any of the games that will go on in this thread including contests.
♥ Members are NOT allowed to have personal blacklists displayed, in their post formats, posts, signatures. etc. This is a form of trolling and will not be tolerated.

Staff:
♠ When expressing concerns, please try to PM a mod who is active/online first.
♦ The thread Admins & Staff words are law; respect them or GTFO!
♣ No Disrespecting Mods! We will no longer tolerate members undermining staff and telling them how to do their job. Anyone who abuses a mod by cussing, causing drama, or even making their job more difficult will face disciplinary action up to blacklisting.
♥ If you feel your case/incident wasn't dealt with correctly, or you feel harassed/belittled, etc. in any way by a moderator, please contact another moderator with the details. Include page links to conversations and any details relating to the incident.
