I agree. There are rock songs (mostly old) that talk about those things indirectly.

-sigh- Let me be more detailed, most of the, as you people would call us, Metalheads in where I live, and the shows that me and my friends go to are christian rock. We like skillet, there aer some good songs that do talk about what I have said, but not driectly, unlike Rap. so if a little kids listens to Rock, he/she won't know what it's talking about, unless he/she listens to rap. But, then again, you "Rappers" and/or "Gansters" (stupid names and stuff BTW) are just listening to porn.

And now I have proof. People who listen to Rap and Country and other stuff say stuff like what I said, but you do care? And the lyrics make sense in Metal. Death matel (screams) have no affect on me, just like rap, they don't sing. In Metal and rock don't say nothing about sex, cheating, drugs, ect. People can make rap better by singing, for one and letting the lyrics not talk about s**t like that.

Yes, Metal doesn't speak of Sex, Cheatin, drugs ect. That's because it's to busy singing about Blood, Cutting people open and eating their innards ect.

Rap does require a certain amount of talent, Being able to follow a beat is considered some form of talent. Though they aren't singing there is some form of poetic rhythm to the way they do it, Not to mention they do rhyme which constitutes as a poem and poems don't even have to ryhme. Thus it does require some form of talent.

You can't really base your "Rap isn't music" on the words they are using because the words (For some reason) hold some form of significance to the rapper/person listening. So by basing an argument on the words being said is just plain right wrong.

Also if your saying that speaking to a beat isn't talented then you are also agreeing to say that Johnny Cash was not a talented man as well?

(Oh and for the record, I dislike rap.)

I don't like rap but I make a point to try not to diss other peoples music. It is just adifferent type of music. Saying rap is not music is lke saying poetry isn't writing. In my opinion.

its not to the extent that rap does
but on the other side you dont hear alot of rap rapping about war religion and politics
you could do these generalizations with every genre of music

Rap is a little more direct in its ways. eek You must not listen to much rap hun, because ALOT of rap artists sing about societal issues except the mainstream morons.

I think rap IS music. Rappers got deferent voices and flows, thats why they're popular right? For example... T Pain has his own rawr-ish voice and sounds kinda hi-tech sometimes..Ludacris has his strongass voice that makes you feel like you're on top of the world..Lil Wayne sounds like a bird if a bird could talk somehow..T.I. got his mumblin' flows..yahh dude there's alotta deferent vocals 3nodding

... I don't think you have listened to enough rap if you think that. Yes there are a lot of songs like that but I can name quite a few off the top of my head that have NOTHING to do with sex drugs and what not.

I must add that that I don't even like rap and I can tell you that.

no your absolutley right i dont listen to alot of rap just whatever shoved down my throat which is exactly that those mainstream morons or my friends ipod. but what i ahve listened to is what alot of my peers listen to as if it kept them alive. i havent heard any songs that had to do with societal issues outside of the "ghettos". but thats because i dont listen to that much rap

Well to say Rap requires no talent is not totally correct. seeing as there is a lot of thoughtfull and meaningful rap out there it actually takes talent. but some of the stuff some rappers are putting out as music is stupid and requires no talent. basically the whole Crunk movement and Hyphy movement don't take any talent.

Finally. It's hard to find someone who DOESN'T like rap where I come from. We have white people trying to be "gangsta." They say b***h after every sentence. xp

I hate rap. Rock is much better IMO, because it requires singing and actually talent. Let's see "Eminem" play a guitar. (I don't mean just a few chords.) It takes patience to learn to play guitar.
