The finalists are in, and it's up to you to choose the winner! We received a ridiculous amount of submissions, but we've sifted through them, removed the countless Halo 3 screenshots and "mak big sword pls here is a pic of my dog" entries, and selected a dozen finalists that captured the Gaian spirit of fun and originality.

Wondering how we selected the finalists? Here's a quick rundown.

First, we went through all the entries to weed out the rule-breakers. Then we locked our artists in a little room to view the entries on a projector, and they spent hours searching for the coolest, funniest, most interesting and most original items. Unfortunately, when whittling tens of thousands of entries into a dozen finalists, many, many great items had to be eliminated. If you're wondering why your awesome item didn't wind up as a finalist, here are some common reasons:

  • It was similar to an item that our artists have already planned or created.
  • It was cool, but impossible to actually create due to layering or size concerns.
  • It may have been too elaborate or fantastical to work as a common shop item.
  • It was cool, but a thousand other people had the same idea. The artists were looking for items that really surprised them.

In the end, the artists picked twelve items that stood out for their originality and coolness. If your item didn't make the cut, don't be too sad. We plan to have more item contests in the future, so your chance will come again!

Hey Everyone ^w^

Our apologies about the presentation of the contest winners. It seems that some users are worried that because some items with multiple poses were chosen as finalists, that we were allowing multiple pose submissions, but this is actually just something we didn't communicate clearly smile

When reviewing the submissions, we noticed that many users didn't see the rule specifying that items shouldn't have multiple poses. So since the objective of the contest was to collect cool user created item ideas, to ultimately get some awesome items back to the community, we didn't want a really cool item idea to be rejected on a technicality and decided to consider submissions with multiple poses so long as only one of the poses was used.

When the submissions were shown to the community, we simply failed to specify that only one of the poses on the multi pose submissions would be made into an item. If an item with multiple poses wins, the artists will choose their favorite pose and create it.

Hope this clears up any confusion about the submissions ^^
