Welcome to Gaia! ::

A quick update: the Marketplace beta test is now open to all users! Please see the post below for more information about Gaia's new Marketplace.

FAQ

I can't find _____ item!
There may be a few items which are missing from the search. As they come up, we are entering them into the search table. The search table and keywords were entered by hand, so we may have accidentally left a few out.

With that said, it is more likely that you need to click the "Show Unlisted Items" checkbox in the Search box. This option should bring up any item in the database, regardless of whether or not there are any current marketplace listings for it.

Three letter searches don't work!
They should work just fine. If you click Show Unlisted Items, you may see items that didn't come up before. There is one exception that we know of: at this time, searching for the word "may" will not give any results. We will be adding this and any other words that we find do not work.

Also, you may not be getting results because you used quotation marks ("" wink when searching. Currently, searching with quotation marks is disabled; we're evaluating several different search methods, and we may end up adding quotation marks back in if users find it difficult to adjust to the new system.

I can't see recently listed/ending soonest items!
To see these listings, click the "vend search" button.

I can't search by Buy Now Price!
Yes you can. Sorta :3. There is currently a minor bug on the Item Detail page where this sort option does not filter out Bid Only listings. If you go through a couple pages, you will see the Buy Now prices show up. This will be fixed on Tuesday. Lowest Buy Price searching on the Vend Search table seems to work just fine.

The average prices are wrong! Graphs are missing!
True. Analyzing and processing our huge vend log has proven to be quite difficult. We are still working out some kinks in this. As with any price guide, you should not use it as your only source of information when purchasing an item. As time goes on, these listings will become more and more accurate.

Items that are listed in the old marketplace do not show up in the new one!
Because of significant structural changes to the way marketplace data is stored, the old and new Marketplace each use their own set of listings. Items listed in the old Marketplace will not show up in the new Marketplace.

Hello, Gaians!

We're delighted to report that Marketplace 3.0 is coming along very nicely, and we're gearing up for a launch sometime soon!

We're currently in the testing phase, and we'd like to invite all Gaians who have purchased this month's Collectible* to take part in the Marketplace 3.0 beta test. To check out the new Marketplace, choose the "Marketplace" link under the "Market" section of the site navigation. You will be offered a choice between using the original Marketplace or the new beta version for a short while until we begin to phase the old Marketplace out. To go directly to the new beta version, just visit this url:

http://www.gaiaonline.com/marketplace

We've also set up a feedback guild here. Please use this guild for bug reports and feedback. The developers are standing by!

Before you use the new Marketplace, be aware of this major change: There is now a 2% listing fee for all items in the Marketplace. This means that if your item is sold, Gaia will take a 2% cut of the selling price. This will help stabilize the Gaia economy by controlling inflation and preventing abuse of the Marketplace. However, this means that we no longer have to require vending licenses, so everyone who has previously bought one will have their 1000 Gaia Gold refunded.

*As we've done in the past, we've set up this beta test to be available only to members who have bought Monthly Collectibles through the Gaia Store within the past 31 days. Although we're not trying to play favorites, we need to limit the beta test to a smaller group of users, and allowing Gaians who have purchased Collectibles to participate is the fastest and simplest way for us to select test candidates; we already have a system set up so that members who have purchased Collectibles won't see ads on the site, so we're able to use the same system to run the beta test without additional development time. If you're not in the beta group, don't worry about rushing out to buy a Collectible- the final Marketplace should be up and running very soon, so you won't have to wait too long.

P.S- If you're among those testing this feature, it's totally fine if you post screenshots or info about this beta feature in the forums. This isn't a big secret thing, so you don't need to report people for "leaks" if they post info!
