Steelers Report

The Steelers won a big time game today with 3 seconds left in the Fourth Quarter. Ben threw an amazing pass to Mike Wallace for the Td. He barely got his feet down and the refs raised both arms and the crowd roars. We are now 7-7 and above .500 while in the wildcard hunt.

ANNOUNCEMENT & NEWS CENTER CENTER: The main purpose of the announcement and news center is for me to let you know things about the thread and for you to be informed on anything the Steelers have released. I will have injury updates and game news and things along those line.

New Announcement:

Player Notes

• QB Ben Roethlisberger needs 379 passing yards over the final three games to break the franchise’s single-season record of 3,724, set by Terry Bradshaw in 1979.

• SS Troy Polamalu(notes) will miss his ninth game of the season. He still leads the team with three interceptions.

• QB Dennis Dixon(notes) has apparently become the backup to Ben Roethlisberger. Charlie Batch(notes) came back from a broken wrist to find himself No. 3 last week and this week.

• K Jeff Reed(notes) is 18 of 19 in field goal attempts inside 50 yards this season. Among his four misses are attempts from 52, 51 and 56 yards. He also missed one from 49.

• WR Santonio Holmes(notes) has taken over the punt return duties from Stefan Logan(notes), although Mewelde Moore(notes) might continue to field punts that are deep in Steelers’ territory, as he has done much of the season.

• RB Rashard Mendenhall(notes), with 60 rushing yards, will become the seventh player in Steelers history to reach 1,000 yards in a season. “It’s a great milestone for a back,” Mendenhall said. “It’s almost like my first season, and to have 1,000 is an accomplishment.”
