What the ******** Giants are playing disgusting right now. Just terrible. The defense isn't playing as a unit, and aren't in sync. Eli Manning is making some really bad mistakes. The play-calling on both sides is really questionable. And some guys aren't making big plays when the opportunities are there...

The Giants better step their s**t up. Or it's going to be an extremely disappointing season. 5-3 sounds like a good record, but they're playing far worse than that mark. We need a momentum shift.

They dropped from first to third in the division. I don't get to see most of the Giants games where I'm at, but judging by the highlights Eli looks like the Eli of old: missed passes, lack of confidence, too many interceptions. The running game isn't as solid as the previous two seasons. There are key injuries in the defense, but it shouldn't look as bad as it has the past three games. They gave up 14 points twice under a span of two minutes each time. Since Plaxico's incident last season, the receiving corps has dropped too many big play passes. The CB's and safeties don't seem to be on the same page either. I've seen situations in the last three games where the CB's seemed to be expecting safety help over the top, but didn't get it.

I keep hearing from the analysts that the D-line isn't getting pressure either. I think the play calling and the weak secondary play a big part into the turmoil of the defense. On that long Desean Jackson TD pass, Tuck and Umenyiora dropped back into pass coverage and two LB'S blitzed. There are two things wrong with that scenario. They took away their best pass rushers, for pass coverage?! And the blitz amounted to nothing more than a four-man pass rush, since Osi and Tuck dropped back.

I would be interested to see Ramses Barden put in there. The top four receivers on the depth chart are no more than 6'1". I would like to see if they could do anything with someone close to Plax' height.

Eli Manning started the season on fire, and is really cooling off. He's making too many mental mistakes, and doesn't look confident when the defense gets to him.

The receivers are doing pretty well. They are making a few big plays, but are dropping some easy key balls. I think that Smith, Nicks, and Manningham should top the depth chart at receiver, but we should try out Barden over Hixon and definitely over Moss or Hagan. Good to see Boss getting a bit more involved though.

Our rushing attack is still solid, but isn't as dominant as last season. Bradshaw is a bit injured but is still making some nice plays, and Jacobs looks like he's running downhill again. Nothing really wrong with our running game, but it seems that way, because we have been playing from behind lately, have less ball control, and rush less overall.

The offensive line is doing alright at run blocking, but could use some improvement. Opposing defenses are getting to Eli more easily than usual, so that needs to improve.

Our defensive line has done okay, but hasn't lived up to expectations at all. Umenyiora, Tuck, Kiwanuka, Robbins, Cofield, Canty, Alford, Bernard, Tollefson. That's the best DL rotation in the NFL by far. Why haven't they done much? Maybe it's the Canty and Alford injuries, or maybe it's the lack of a working blitzing scheme.

Pierce is one of the smartest linebackers in the NFL. He makes all the right reads and calls. But sadly, he's one of the most nonathletic. The same with the rest of the linebackers. Terrible in pass coverage, and don't close up the open rushing gaps. Hopefully Boley returns soon from injury to provide a spark. And hey, why not play the rookie Sintim? He looks like a really solid playmaking LB.

Our secondary has been the weakest part of the Giants over the last three weeks. Terrible safety play. We're really (and I mean really) missing Kenny Phillips. CC Brown is terrible. Our defensive backs are missing easy tackles. And instead of going for the deflection, sometimes they go for the interception or big hit, and it's costing them. The secondary isn't also playing as a unit, and they have to be much more aggressive on the line of scrimmage. Heck, use press coverage, I'd rather see some pass interference calls than see wide open receivers scoring easily. Hopefully Aaron Ross returns soon to make some plays.

May I add on special teams? Hixon is doing pretty well as a returner. Good thing that he slipped down the depth chart as receiver, so he can take on full return duties. Feagles hasn't done too well as of late, yet we can trust this veteran when needed to put field position in our favor. But Lawrence Tynes is getting on my nerves. His kickoffs are short, and he's missing some really easy field goals. Not to mention, our coverage team is playing pretty bad.

...Tom Coughlin better have a hell of a week of practice ready for the Giants this week. They need a momentum swing quickly. Study film, and gain a tougher mentality. Play-calling also needs to be fixed up (both offensive and defensive). It's a long season, and the Giants still need to prove that they're elite. These past three games have been awful. Change better start now.

Highlights? Of the Giants? We're two fans...meaning we watch the actual games...

Well, 3 straight wins for the Cowboys. They beat Philly next week, sole possession of first place. I hope Dallas kicks Philly's teeth in, but it's going to be something next week. They're the only team standing in the Eagles way of going 3-0 in the division right now.

It's not a coincidence that the three straight wins happen with Romo going three straight games without an INT. He's finally not playing like a little b***h. Though I still don't like him, it's helping me out fantasy-wise.

Welp, gotta take a real hard look at how to shuffle the top 5 in my eyes. While I kept the Giants up there out of respect for what is usually a dominant defense, that may change. With a lot more depth to each team's record now maybe I'll take time in the future to list my full Top 10.

1) New Orleans Saints - No reason at all to doubt them. None.
2) Denver Broncos - With their first loss, and facing Pittsburgh this week, they're teetering on the brink of dropping down in the top 5 soon.
3) Pittsburgh Steelers - Yeah, it's easy to hold your spot on a bye week
4) Minnesota Vikings - With another win over Green Bay, shows that few teams may be claiming Ws over them.
5) Philadelphia Eagles - They're streaking up to the top of their division after a rough start to the season. I didn't expect that.

Oh, and hi Princess. Defense is playing well, Favre actually looks like he may not choke this year, and AP is doing alright. But he's not leading the league.
Chris Johnson is the leader right now. Before having this week's bye, Cedric Benson was the #1 RB. And now Steven Jackson on the awful Rams has drawn even with Adrian Peterson.
Still not impressed enough by AP to declare him a future great, HoF candidate, etc...that everyone pumps him up to be. While he is good, he is overrated.

Yeah.... 8 TDs, 0 INTs. This defense is starting to look like the defense that led the league in sacks last year, as well. Causing fumbles and turnovers, sacking the QB, if not sacking him, then pressuring him, and roughing him up some. Also the secondary has been playing a little bit better. A few plays, I've seen our corners lay the BOOM on opposing ballcarriers, and they're getting INTs. Something one doesn't usually hear about when it comes to Big D's secondary.

Like I said though, we'll see what happens next Sunday in Philly.

Maybe making Ginn solely a return man is good for him. I mean, he's not doing much lined up as a receiver and getting those two kick returns may have been because he fresh all game. Even he plays well I don't know what to think of him.

The Colts still not in your top 5? They're 7-0, and Peyton Manning can win in any situation. And you have the Eagles ahead of them? They lost to the Raiders...I'd definitely have the Colts at #2. You can't ask more of a team to win all their games.

Adrian Peterson is the best RB in the league, and will definitely be in the HOF if he stays healthy. Of course he's not leading the league in yards, they went out and got Brett Favre. A huge investment for them, and they definitely were going to throw a lot more if they rolled the dice with #4. But even so, Adrian Peterson is still making a ridiculous amount of plays to help the Vikings win. He actually performed great in crunch time against the Steelers, but two Favre turnovers for TDs cost them that game.

The Colts haven't played anyone worth taking note of. Haven't been tested by a good defense yet, haven't played against a really good offense yet. Yes, I'll put Philly, who struggled a bit early but is getting hot and taking down other teams that are/were contenders over someone who is unproven.
Regardless of adding Favre, AP has only broken 100 yard rushing twice so far this season. And people are talking about him like he's better than LT ever was? Like he's destined for the hall? There's so much hype about him and this was the year to prove it all right, and he hasn't.
And don't give me crap about Favre taking the ball out of AP's hands. Peterson is third in carries at 163, just two carries behind Steven Jackson, almost twenty carries ahead of Thomas Jones at #4.

Am I trying to call AP bad? Not at all. He's definately one of a few guys at the top of the league when it comes to ability running the ball, but his stats do NOT support all the hype.

You can't determine how the Colts will do against a good defense, until they actually face a good team. The Colts are 7-0, and that's all that matters. But a top team ranking should be based on who'd they beat in a matchup based on how good they are, regardless of who they faced in the past. Right now, I believe that the Colts would take down any team in the NFL other than the Saints, if they played each other on a neutral field. Anyways, the Colts actually beat a tough Miami defense with only a quarter of offensive possession, went into Arizona and killed the defending NFC champs, and just beat a pretty good 49ers defense. You're putting the Eagles ahead of them, though. And because they're taking down other teams that are contenders? They lost to the Raiders three weeks ago, beat a horrible Redskins team, and then beat an injured and really struggling Giants team (that got killed by the Saints and taken down by the Cardinals) at home. Just saying...

Now about Adrian Peterson. Think about how good the Vikings are. Take Peterson away. Now think how good they would be without him. He averages 98 yards rushing per game, 24 yards receiving per game, and has 9 TDs. Pretty impressive for a player who's faced the Packers defense twice, the Steelers defense, and the Ravens defense. And overall, I must mention that Adrian Peterson has led the NFL in rushing yards since his rookie year, three seasons ago. Just look at the plays he makes, his work ethic, his explosiveness. Great vision, skills, and determination. Truly something special. Mark my words. Adrian Peterson will be a future Hall of Famer.

I've got to say, during the Vikings - Packers game, Greg Jennings got hurt on the Vikings sidelines. Did anybody notice who the first person over there to check on him was? Brett Favre. He beat the Vikings training staff over there. Class.

I wasn't on during the whole Brett Favre retirement thing. I really like how everybody jokes on Favre for his come back retirement routine. Junior Seau anybody?

Everybody talks about Percy Harvin doing great. He is! No doubt about that. Kick returns, running the ball and some amazing catches. The Vikings best draft pick this season is Phil Loadholt though. He has played very well against some very good defenses. He had Aaron Kampman responsibility, this season. He did great in both games against him, granted this is the 3-4 defense and they moved Kampman to outside linebacker, but either way he is a premier pass rusher in the NFL, and Loadholt kept him from getting close.

The Vikings let Matt Birk go, so John Sullivan got the start at center. Matt Birk was a great center for years, but Sullivan has filled those big shoes beautifully.

The NFL's dirtiest players list is out. Imagine that, Hines Ward is on it... Honestly, he blocks linebackers and safeties like he's supposed to. I guess he should act like every other receiver in the league and give... nudges. Jared Allen was on it to. That has to be because he doesn't have an off switch. When the offensive linemen are tired he's still going at 100%. Totally unfair and dirty!

Favre to Jennings was something special, to end his era with the Packers. That would have been a lethal combo if they stuck together as teammates these past two seasons. Jennings would definitely be Favre's go-to-guy if he were on the Vikings.
