A bit late commenting, but it seems my rankings last week were pretty spot-on. I'd just do a minor shuffle....

1) Saints - Still undefeated, still dominant. Good job pulling out the win from the trap game.
2) Broncos - Again, still undefeated, though easy to do on a bye week.
3) Steelers - They're getting better...watch out NFL.
4) Giants - Dropping a second straight game to a mediocre Cardinals team bumps them down.
5) Vikings - Knocked off the pedastal by the first really strong opponant they've seen. Still very respectable team.

umm...the Colts not in your top five? Peyton Manning is the MVP at this point of the season, and they are undefeated, obliterating most of their opponents. I agree that the Saints should be #1, but I think you put the Colts right after them.

The Colts have played no one noteworthy. Jacksonville, Miami, Arizona, Seattle, Tennessee, bye week, then St. Louis....this is an easy schedule, one that hasn't really tested them at all. Tennessee in week 1 or 2 may've been a challenge, but by week 5 they'd given up. Also Manning has had a cakewalk. Jacksonville 31st, Miami 19th, Arizona 29th, Seattle 16th, Tennessee 32nd, St. Louis 25th. Those are bad pass defenses.
Compare to New Orleans.
Detroit 30th, Philadelphia 9th, Buffalo 10th, Jets 7th, Giants 2nd, Miami 19th. Brees has faced FOUR top ten defenses against the pass and his numbers are comparable (and slightly behind) Manning's. Indy has played the only two teams worse against the pass than Detroit, the weakest D the Saints have played. And almost every other D they've played against is far better than the best the Colts have lined up against.
Why should I be impressed by the Colts?

Stop eating what you're spoon fed and LOOK at what is going on.
Nas! How are you?

I think the Vikings should be above the Giants. Last weeks game easily could have gone the other way with the Steelers. Especially after the refs fabulous tripping call. Other than that we really just beat ourselves. Great game though!

The Giants beat Washington, Dallas, Tampa, Kansas City and Oakland. They were embarrassed by New Orleans and lost to Arizona. Brandon Jacobs is averaging a very average to below averaging 3.9 YAC. Eli has looked like a deer in headlights against good defenses.

Brett Favre has already built great chemistry with Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin and Visanthe Shiancoe. The offensive line has played very well. I know you're not a Peterson fan Nas, but he is scoring touchdowns and leads the league in rushing.

Hey maybe the Rams will get a win. anyone ekse think so? I'm kinda figuring if they lose against the Lion's (who went winless last season) they will be proclaimed thr worst team in the NFL. not to mention the 17 straight loses.

LOL, spoonfed?

Then what about the Giants? As a Giants fan, I think they are a very good team right now, but by your credentials, they shouldn't be in the top 5. They beat the Raiders, Bucs, Redskins, and Chiefs. The only good team they beat were the Cowboys, and they lost tough games to the Saints and Cardinals.

...And why should you be impressed by the Colts? Because they are undefeated, and have the best QB in the game. That's why.

What the ******** Giants are playing disgusting right now. Just terrible. The defense isn't playing as a unit, and aren't in sync. Eli Manning is making some really bad mistakes. The play-calling on both sides is really questionable. And some guys aren't making big plays when the opportunities are there...

The Giants better step their s**t up. Or it's going to be an extremely disappointing season. 5-3 sounds like a good record, but they're playing far worse than that mark. We need a momentum shift.

Crap. Broncos lost. Well, I guess it's time to go back to reality.

All three (Saints, Cardinals, Eagles) were the better teams on the field when they played the Giants. We just don't have the right mentality. And not playing up to our potential.

Oh, Jets. :[ It is alright. It was a good game. Sanchez, Offensive, and Defensive, you guys did good. Special team.. uh. No. Just no.

And did I see Sanchez crying on Edwards' shoulder? Maybe I was imagining it.

Considering that the Bears didnt completely shut out and blow out the Browns proves that the Chicago Bears at best are a Terrible team. I'm surprised that they are not at the same level as St. Louis and Detroit.

talk2hand Oh Wow the Bears beat the Browns.... Cutler didnt even throw a touchdown pass. What a pathetic piece of s**t. Time to bench this loser.

Seriously if it wasnt for the Bears mediocre defense, the Browns would have won this game.

Well, 3 straight wins for the Cowboys. They beat Philly next week, sole possession of first place. I hope Dallas kicks Philly's teeth in, but it's going to be something next week. They're the only team standing in the Eagles way of going 3-0 in the division right now.

I'm really pissed how the Giants blew their NFC East lead so quickly. They were in a commanding position, and just gave it up over the past three weeks...

They dropped from first to third in the division. I don't get to see most of the Giants games where I'm at, but judging by the highlights Eli looks like the Eli of old: missed passes, lack of confidence, too many interceptions. The running game isn't as solid as the previous two seasons. There are key injuries in the defense, but it shouldn't look as bad as it has the past three games. They gave up 14 points twice under a span of two minutes each time. Since Plaxico's incident last season, the receiving corps has dropped too many big play passes. The CB's and safeties don't seem to be on the same page either. I've seen situations in the last three games where the CB's seemed to be expecting safety help over the top, but didn't get it.

I keep hearing from the analysts that the D-line isn't getting pressure either. I think the play calling and the weak secondary play a big part into the turmoil of the defense. On that long Desean Jackson TD pass, Tuck and Umenyiora dropped back into pass coverage and two LB'S blitzed. There are two things wrong with that scenario. They took away their best pass rushers, for pass coverage?! And the blitz amounted to nothing more than a four-man pass rush, since Osi and Tuck dropped back.

I would be interested to see Ramses Barden put in there. The top four receivers on the depth chart are no more than 6'1". I would like to see if they could do anything with someone close to Plax' height.

Eli Manning started the season on fire, and is really cooling off. He's making too many mental mistakes, and doesn't look confident when the defense gets to him.

The receivers are doing pretty well. They are making a few big plays, but are dropping some easy key balls. I think that Smith, Nicks, and Manningham should top the depth chart at receiver, but we should try out Barden over Hixon and definitely over Moss or Hagan. Good to see Boss getting a bit more involved though.

Our rushing attack is still solid, but isn't as dominant as last season. Bradshaw is a bit injured but is still making some nice plays, and Jacobs looks like he's running downhill again. Nothing really wrong with our running game, but it seems that way, because we have been playing from behind lately, have less ball control, and rush less overall.

The offensive line is doing alright at run blocking, but could use some improvement. Opposing defenses are getting to Eli more easily than usual, so that needs to improve.

Our defensive line has done okay, but hasn't lived up to expectations at all. Umenyiora, Tuck, Kiwanuka, Robbins, Cofield, Canty, Alford, Bernard, Tollefson. That's the best DL rotation in the NFL by far. Why haven't they done much? Maybe it's the Canty and Alford injuries, or maybe it's the lack of a working blitzing scheme.

Pierce is one of the smartest linebackers in the NFL. He makes all the right reads and calls. But sadly, he's one of the most nonathletic. The same with the rest of the linebackers. Terrible in pass coverage, and don't close up the open rushing gaps. Hopefully Boley returns soon from injury to provide a spark. And hey, why not play the rookie Sintim? He looks like a really solid playmaking LB.

Our secondary has been the weakest part of the Giants over the last three weeks. Terrible safety play. We're really (and I mean really) missing Kenny Phillips. CC Brown is terrible. Our defensive backs are missing easy tackles. And instead of going for the deflection, sometimes they go for the interception or big hit, and it's costing them. The secondary isn't also playing as a unit, and they have to be much more aggressive on the line of scrimmage. Heck, use press coverage, I'd rather see some pass interference calls than see wide open receivers scoring easily. Hopefully Aaron Ross returns soon to make some plays.

May I add on special teams? Hixon is doing pretty well as a returner. Good thing that he slipped down the depth chart as receiver, so he can take on full return duties. Feagles hasn't done too well as of late, yet we can trust this veteran when needed to put field position in our favor. But Lawrence Tynes is getting on my nerves. His kickoffs are short, and he's missing some really easy field goals. Not to mention, our coverage team is playing pretty bad.

...Tom Coughlin better have a hell of a week of practice ready for the Giants this week. They need a momentum swing quickly. Study film, and gain a tougher mentality. Play-calling also needs to be fixed up (both offensive and defensive). It's a long season, and the Giants still need to prove that they're elite. These past three games have been awful. Change better start now.
