Haven't been on in a while, but I felt like chiming in here because of some people's comments.
Why must fighters tap gloves before going at it? From what I've seen only UFC stresses that and I don't know why. You're about to try beating the hell out of the other guy, so if part of getting into the mindset of kicking a** for someone means just going out and fighting, so be it.
As for other things Lesnar said or did? I gotta say I don't blame the guy much. He's gotten nothing but garbage from a lot of UFC fans who are angry he got a shot at the belt "too soon", the fact he beat Couture makes a lot of people angry because they want him to suck, then he's getting booed and stuff when he defends his belt against the one guy who beat him in his first UFC fight...can't blame the guy at all. Does that mean it's ok? Not necessarily, but I think some people get way too worked up over things that may be said or done in the heat of the moment when a boatload of adrenaline is flowing through these guys' veins.
As for how he taunted Mir after beating him? Mir had that coming to him since he dared tell the champ "You're wearing my belt." That was well earned.
I hope Dana doesn't get too a**l on guys like these, because Lesnar - Mir is shaping up to be a good rivalry that UFC is lacking.
well put , i agree 100%
Tapping gloves is just a sign of respect and honor that MMA has taken as it's own ... fighter's don't have to ... but they choose to ... as for oganization like (formerly) Pride or K-1 Heros ... all the Japan organizatin usually have those honorable moments during press conferences and then when you get into the ring you go at it ... as for Brazil ... well they do it differently down there ...
Now not taking anything from Brock Lesnar ... he beat Mir ... in a terriffic fashion ... I guess it just the fact that he was in the WWE ... I don't know ...
