I'm pretty confused with GMGM moves this offseason. Both Knuble and Brendan Morrison does bring something into the team, but I believe Caps' most notable weakness is in the defense. I would've thought GMGM would be going after a defenseman.

Sidney Crosby won't be given the C for Team Canada, enough with the ridiculous hating. He'll wear it eventually, just not in 2010.

Jay McKee for 800K is so big a steal I'm surprised Ray Shero hasn't been arrested. A man of The Code that is a big hitter but fights his own battles and sticks up for his teammates as well. Not to mention his shot blocking ability. Just a blue collar a** kicker, welcome aboard Jay.

Morrison in Washington?

He played well on the WCE back in the day. But I think he best days are behind him.

I wish him the best with the Caps.

800k for McKee is a good deal. He's not the fastest and he's had injury problems (gee, a guy who stands in the way of an object moving at 100mph gets hurt, woudathinkit) but he's tough. back when he was in Buffalo there were tales about some of the injuries he played through. Some of us were hoping he'd come back to Buffalo, but we knew it couldn't happen.

On other ex-Sabres, I think New York is overpaying for Kotalik. He's got a great slapshot and he might as well patent his one shootout move (yes, he only has one) for all the times he's scored with it, but that's all. He's a bum on defense and doesn't use his size too well. That said, he will score on the PP and in the shootout.

As for team Canada captaincy, I'm hoping for Iginla, though I can't say Doan or Niedermayer would be bad choices. And speaking of future Olympics, isn't NHL participation in future Olympics not guaranteed?
