i think that the final round of playoffs the refs need to be from different countries other then the teams. that way to avoid favouring like there was obviously last year. i wonder how the tampa people can sleepat night with a false victory.

Heh,these ones we had were soo bad that the palms on the catchers were pretty much gone
At least yours cover the wrists, though I never used the goal equpiment the wrists were exposed and I can just feel the pain of getting a nice shot right smack across the wrists causing that pinching, internal bleeding feeling throughout your arm that makes you curl over in pain. sweatdrop
That hurts but:
We..screw it,I had to supply the ball for the games we had in the gym.All the were was a Wiffle ball with pieces of old jeans, duct tape for the 1st layer, masking tape, more duct tape and the finally hockey tape, those things were about as good as a reg hockey ball except a bit less bouncy.Anyway,we were playing one lunch one kid took a slapshot from like 20 feet out(let say 10-20 feet, mainly because i dont remember how far he was)The goalies were using baseball chest protecters,I usually had one of my jerseys on over top because those damn things would choke me,this day i wasnt because i forgot the jersey at home, the ball came, the crappy protecter fell as soon as i went down for the ball and the ball had to hit the top part of the collar bone and chip it sweatdrop

Uh.. The referees come from all over, they move them around so they won't begin to favor one team. But in all cases you always have that one absolutely horrible referee who tries to screw you over and does so. Even so, if you team is good enough to win they will.
An example? I'll supply you with two. The 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. (Women's hockey) Now this was the most absolutely absurd thing I had ever seen. It was Canada vs the USA in the finals. (Remember, I'm talking women's not mens. The mens team laid an a** whooping on the USA no problem. xd ) But anyways, the Salt Lake City commity assigned an American referee to the Canada vs USA game. Not once did Canada have 5 players on the ice. Not once. Most times they were lucky to even have 4. In the end Canada won the game and took home the glory. But that referee can go to hell, she would see an American player literally slash another player across the wrist and the player would fall and call on the play. But the second a American player even slipped on a peice of ice it was Canada's fault. It was absolutely attrocious, and just to win that game was just great. Hope that American referee got in mega s**t for that little display she showed and got fired. Probably see her working at McDonalds somewhere down in Salt Lake City. stare
Second example is newer. This past season in the WHL the Kelowna Rockets and Vancouver Giants had quite the rivalry, along with that came some of the worst referee'ing I've ever seen. Beginning of the season Kelowna had destroyed Vancouver game in and game out. So towards the end of the season they started assigning a man named Pat Smith to referee the games. They played about 3 games and with him as referee he tried every way he could to try and slow the Rockets down. Kelowna ended up destroying them like always. But the final game of that series Cam Cunning went knee on knee with Shea Weber giving him an injury that sent him missing the final 10 or so games of the season and the first and a bit of the second rounds. No penalty. Nothing.
The reason why they went after Shea Weber is as you all know that kid can hit. He had sent Gilbert Brule off the ice earlier in the season with one of his many spine tingling hits. It was clean, much like the Nigel Dawes hit that he laid out in the third round of playoffs ending Dawes junior career. (Due to it was his final season)
But thats beside the point, the final game of the season was against the Giants once again. If Kelowna won or tied they would have taken the WHL Regular season champions banner and the BC division champion banner. But if they lost Kootenay would win it by number of wins, not points, Kelowna and Kootenay were tied in points. What ended up happening was Pat Smith screwed them every way they could. Didn't help that Vancouver was getting fed up with being the laughing stock of the BC division. So they were being goons, Kelowna was retaliating and Kelowna would come out with the penaltys and not Vancouver. stare In the end they lost their banners due to horrible referee'ing and the two teams met in the first round of the playoffs. Kelowna should have swept Vancouver no problem.
Instead without Weber the defence wasn't stable what so ever. We once again had Pat Smith and ended up losing the first game of the playoffs. That was a horrible way to lose a game. All this time the Vancouver fans were printing newspapers saying "Vancouver is the next Memorial Cup Champions!", "Vancouver sweeps Kelowna and moves on to easy season round!". While in Kelowna while Pat Smith was ruining the game, fans were trying to climb over the boards to take a swimg at him, things were being thrown on the ice, they had around 50 security guards escort him out of the arena because people were waiting for him outside and game 2 Kelowna came back and won the game with a decent referee who called a good game. Game three though Corey McLean was probably one of the worst referee's yet due to he doesn't ref that many games like Pat Smith, he screwed Kelowna out of a win and the series was 2-1 for Vancouver. Here comes the newspapers "Vancouver will win series 4-1 and take on London for Memorial Cup!"
See how ignorant they are down there? Even if they beat Kelowna they still would have had to have gone through Seattle, Kootenay and Brandon. Which they didn't stand a chance since day one. But Kelowna came back and won the next 3 taking the series 4-2. All in all, if the team is meant to win they should be able to get past the referee'ing. Yah sure the reffing was pretty bad, but it was no where close to those last 2 teams I just mentioned. Calgary could have won but Iginla didn't score, Kiprusoff didn't keep the pucks out of his net and in the end T-Bay won it. Calgary had a chance to win in game 6 and 7. But they didn't. That isn't the referee's problem.

Collar bone doesn't fricken pinch though, it just stings. I've played football so I know what thats like. Plus with veins and arteries it pinches with one wave of pain and then you have that day long tenderness. Collar bone however isn't really pinching, it's just pain spread out over a longer period. sweatdrop Rather not feel either but they both are bad. sweatdrop

rolleyes It's been what a year and you still haven't gotten over the loss? If the situation was reverse I doubt you'd be saying that. Both teams worked hard, Tampa Bay just worked harder. And if that goal was counted who is to say that Tampa would've played harder and still beaten Calgary? Breathe in, breathe out, get over it.

The referee's were bad though, Iginla scored in game 6 to end the game and they didn't even review it. But still they could have still won after that and they didn't. Tough luck. sweatdrop

I'll admit that yes, the refs weren't great and that they really didn't spend alot of time reviewing the goal. But you are right... Calgary could've came back but they didn't. Just like if the goal had counted and Tampa Bay had lost it and Calgary won the Stanley Cup, yes I'd be pissed but they would've had every chance to come back and if they didn't then I'd just have to deal with it. Besides Calgary losing game 6, gave us a great game 7. Despite whose team won.

What are you talking about Linkin? New Jersey vs Anaheim was some of the most boring hockey I've ever seen. Two defensive teams? Agh.. What a fricken horrible round, I seriously hope your were joking. sweatdrop All it was was dump and chase, dump and chase, in the end New Jersey won because Brodeur could dump it and the other goalie couldn't. At least the Tampa Bay vs Calgary series was entertaining with some actual goal scoring plays instead of dump and chase, dump and chase.

Two of the teams I loved/still love going at it
I used love the Ducks, then Devils
I was watching from a friends house, and Marty was making big saves and so was Giguere.
All in all I wasn't really conentrating on what the players were doing, just watching the small and big saves of the goalies
