Welcome to Gaia! ::

The channel 5 5:30 report on it was hilarious! Mike Lynch was just kinda standing there, smiling, holding a Red Sox jacket and looking around to see if he was live or not, which he was, but he wasnt told. Funny stuff.

Huzzah for the official aquisition of the Dice-man! And huzzah for the aquisition of Julio Lugo!!!
Matsuzaka will be dropping the puck at tonight's Bruins-Devils game.
Poor Lugo...his press conference was kinda lost in the Matsuzaka craze. XD

Here's my 2007 lineup:

Schilling
Beckett
Matsuzaka
Wakefield
Papelbon

I want Wake in the SR because of his ability to eat innings--the Sox DO NOT want too much wear and tear on their bullpen.

Who knows what'll happen with Lester. Maybe he'll make a great recovery.

if we get Clemens though, someone has to go, put Wake in the bullpen as a long relief pitcher, and if Lester makes a good recovery, he can make a good long relief pitcher also

No, I don't want to see Wakefield close. Wakefield will be Wakefield though. He'll win a bunch of ugly games, lose a few heartbreakers and pitch some 8-innings gems where his knuckler is dancing and confounding...
RED SOX ACQUIRE BRENDAN DONNELLY FROM ANGELS:
Quote:

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced that the club has acquired righthanded pitcher Brendan Donnelly from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in exchange for lefthanded pitcher Phil Seibel.

Official Press Release:
Redsox.com

This is a great and solid pickup for the Red Sox. .201 BAA against righties, .579 OPS. Sounds like he could replace Timlin as the top RH setup man. Good veteran arm at low cost, pitched in high level spots. Not to mention the Red Sox have enough young options in the pen already and this guy adds depth. I've watched this guy bail the Angels out before to be comfortable saying that he can pitch the 7th or 8th.

Not a closer option in my opinion...but you never know, with the current pen.

As for Seibel, he probably wasn't going anywhere in Boston. But he's a very nice guy. Good luck, Phil. 3nodding
Closer=Craig Hansen

KEEP THE FAITH!

KEEP THE FAITH!

Guys such as Edgar Martinez and Craig Hansen are being molded into future closers for the BoSox. But Martinez won't see any time until late 2007 if not 2008, and Hansen doesn't seem ready, so we might have to go outside the organization or if one of our guys emerges from ST.

Glad to see another BC fan. Boston College runs through my veins 3nodding
I remember laughing at Donnelly last year over the pine tar incident. sweatdrop
BoSox also signed J.C. Romero:
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/

Solid signing. His ERA was pretty high last year, but overrall he's a good pitcher and he's a lefty which is a plus for us. 3nodding

Don't worry the Red Sox don't expect these guys to become closers or whatever afterall they're still looking.
