i dont understand. there was 1 second left on the clock. the field goal kick missed. why was the guy who caught the ball allowed to score when the time had expired???
As long as the ball is snapped before time runs out, a play will go on even in time runs out. They don't stop a play in progress because the clock goes down to zero.

You really need to learn how football works.

In football, no play is stopped until the player with the ball is successfully tackled, regardless of clock time. The ball was snapped with 1 second left, and therefore a play was in effect. If the kicker misses and a player catches it for a return, the play still counts as active because the ball never impacted the ground. There will only be a game-ending miss if the ball isn't returned and the ball misses left or right or is short and hits the ground before being picked up.

Greedy Winner

anything can happen on a single play until the ball is ruled dead and the referees blow the whistle
