Oh god, the payroll excuse. Do you expect the Yankees to go out and buy bad players? lol. Just because they buy good players doesn't guarantee them anything. The last time they won a World Series was in 2000 against the Mets. All baseball players have good seasons and bad seasons. Good players and bad players can get injured. Anything can happen. A team isn't promised to win the World Series just because they go out and buy good players. At least George Steinbrenner cares enough about the Yankees to invest his money into the team. Would it be better if he simply kept most of the money for himself and allowed the team to suffer??? Would that be fair to the fans??? Is that what people really expect him to do? Just keep the money and screw the fans over? That doesn't make any sense to me, but okay lol
