NASCAR is not really a sport it is more of a hobby instead....
no, it really is a sport.
In what sense is it a sport...there is a guy at the wheel driving doing nothing physical....how is it a sport??? It seems to me more as a hobby...just to have fun on the road racing against people who think they are better than you...
I've heard a NASCAR drive can sweat away 10 pounds of weight off during a 500 mile race. The inside of the cars can get upwards of 150 degrees F on them hot humid dog days of summer.
My favourite driver hasnt turned a lap since Feb 18th 2001. The sport has never been the same since.
I've moved on. Still respect what the drivers can do but until the sanctioning body stops messing with something that didnt need messin with I've found other things to do with my weekends still racing related. I now am a corner worker for a local sports car track that I like about an hour from, has given me the opportunity to flag with ameteurs and pros alike.
Been to Mid-Ohio for ALMS and IRL. Flagged at a track outside Cleveland and had the chance to flag at Road America for the SCCA National Championship Runoffs this year, but had to sit out due to too much work at work. Now I plan to flag the 12 Hours of Seabring or Rolex 24 @ Daytona this winter if work will let me take the vacation time.
Its quite a rush having cars scream by you at speed.
