Speed is good ... and from that you get cardio ... always a plus especially with heavyweights ...

Yup yup. I'm looking forward to this a LOT. Its the only thing on my mind besides this girl i been talking to. I'm freakin stoked! lol Got any tips for me?

Hands up ... chin down ...

I keep my left fist up in front of my chin. I'm right handed but i keep my strong hand out front to grab and deflect and have a strong jab. lol I'm a lil backwards.

don't clench your fists, only tighten up your fists milliseconds before your strike connects. getting hit in the face with your own fist is almost as bad as getting hit with someone else's.

and keep your elbows down to protect your ribs.

i can go either way, but my guards a little tighter natural side (left stance), it can be useful however against opponets that arn't used to fight agains a southpaw. and if my jabing arm runs out of steam.
im sorry but MMA 99% of all of the so called * Mixed martial artists * dont have teh fundamentals of any other styles they supposabally learned. almost all of todays MM artists are sloppy in technique and skill. i myself am a 1st dan in taekwondo and 2 belts from my second black belt martial art which is Kenpo. what people dont realize is taking bits and pieces from a few martial arts and then using them in a brawling street fight nonsense way with no proper training in each makes you a cakewalk against someone with years of experience in an art.

perhaps ... but today you have to mix it up ... not just striking or just grappling ... but all of it ... and it also depends on the fighter ... it is all up to them on what they learn ... the truly great fighters (Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, George St. Pierre) ... in their fights ... they are brutal ... but beautiful ...

And realize we are not all street fighting brawlers ...

while this may make you more formidible in a taekwondo match under taekwondo rules and guidelines, i can garentuee you that in a real fight it would be of very little use.

I couldn't agree more. MMA is nothing compared to the old arts, it's just the basics of whatever art you know.

Again ... it all depends on the fighter ... and no one should forget the basics ... it is all about the fundementals ...
Am I the first girl in here? Hmm.. Been training in some form of martial arts for 14 years. I hold a second degree black belt in Hwa Rang Do, and trained what I would call informally in Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu for a few years never actually receiving ranks, just training. RIght handed, but I fight southpaw 'cause I use my legs a lot and I like my strong leg in front.
