Welcome to Gaia! ::

After 5 games of showing his skills, do you think that this kid is for real and can continue a consistent career playing at the level that he has been performing at?
Jeremey Lin is a good player if he continues to get 40+ minutes a game. Obviously he will not get that forever since Baron Davis will get minutes once he gets healthier.
Well, all NBA players have potential like Lin it's just that he's playing harder because he knows that he could build his career with this team and that it could get him a higher salary and longer contract with this team.
He's in a roster where they need him.
All of my asian friends saying that he's the greatest player ever ._. If he was the greatest player ever then why wasn't he getting 30+ minutes on the Warriors? Right!?! Well That's my opinion.
He reminds me of one Courtney Lee. He has a good season because they needed a PG presence, but then after the playoffs and after they pick up certain players they no longer needed him.
you probably know kevjumba on youtube, youtube.com/kevjumba ... He's really good friends with Lin and they made skits together. He's a good player don't get me wrong. (Why else would he be in the NBA). But I think he's just having a good week. He's building very high expectations for himself and they might come back and eat his d**k.
If you need him for fantasy go pick up Jason Kidd instead, he's a pg, better ft% more 3pters and more steals. smile Ask me any other questions, I love basketball

Thanks for the reply, it was very interesting. But in my opinion, I don't think that they will play Baron Davis over Jeremy Lin because at best Davis will play almost as good as Lin has been playing. I'm not saying he is the best player ever, he has many flaws like his defense and turn overs, but he is a very good player who has proven himself lately that he can continue to play well. Yes I do agree that he fits the spot like Courtney Lee did for Orlando, but I also think that he is playing at a higher level than Lee ever did. I think that his stats will drop when Carmelo comes back, but hopefully D'Antoni can figure out a system to keep both of the efficient and striving in his offense. This could be possible, but they can also clash and cause each other to perform badly and cause one of them to be traded. do you think that he can still perform with Melo back?

Ya he will definitely have more minutes than Davis but Davis will drop his minutes giving him equal minutes as most point guards. As for his performance when Melo comes back, I actually think they will increase. Carmelo is a small forward and Lin is a guard so I don't think his stats will drop (I mean like fg%) but ya he will get less points because Carmelo is a ball hog lol. I think he will continue 20+ with 1 steal every game or so and then drop to 15-17 points a game. His stats aren't that impressive.
Actually his stats aren't that impressive at all. He has proven not to use an outside shot and his free-throw % is like 78% which is OK. He doesn't give you blocks either. He's just giving them points, and because for the last 4 years I've been playing Fantasy Basketball, I like stats! To be a all-star player, to be a good player, you have to be proficient in another category than points. That's why most championship teams have players that are proficient in many categories.
For instance, last year the Mavs had one of the best outside shots, great clutch players, persistent players that bring it every game, and an energetic deep bench.
That's why If I was to make a team right now probably Lin would be the 20th pg I'd choose.
For instance, Ricky Rubio, who plays for the T-wolves, provides more Steals per game than turnovers and has proven to talk the talk about passing. ( "A shot made makes 1 man happy, a pass and the basket makes 2 man happy"-Rubio).
Summary: Lin Is a scorer and for me, that's not what I look for in a point guard. But it has proven to the Knicks to be important since they don't have scorers at this second. I'm sure that his stats will drop with Melo back, but his stats right now, to me, aren't even that impressive.
oh and in the last part, when I say stats I mean like steals. %'s, turnovers, blocks, assists, etc. smile
Well i agree that as of now his main feature is scoring. I also think that he is a very flawed player because of the amounts of turnovers he produces nightly. But there really is something to be said by the fact that he has taken over as a leader of the a'mare and melo less knicks. One of the reasons that i like him so far from the few games that i have seen from him is that he is patient when he runs the offense and he has a good basketball IQ. He actually has been an above average passer and i think when the other two Knicks come back his assist will get even higher.

I would love to see his assists get better and his points to stay the same. Anyways here the video of him i was talking about. Funny you say his IQ is high, he did go to Harvard apparently lol (asian...jk )

Haha yeah that was pretty funny cause i actually watched an entire stream of videos last year that he made while going through the summer league. I actually have been doubting him becoming a star but i just wanted to hear other's opinions. But he seems like a good honest person who will just try really hard so i want him to succeed.

Everybody's stats will drop when Carmelo comes back, not just Lin.

Well he was discriminated for being Asian and not being able to jump as high and run as fast as African Americans which was why he was undrafted. Also the Warriors have Stephon Curry and Monta Ellis who both can run PG, which was why he was not a starter.

What are you talking about? Lin a scorer? He scores, but he also facilitates the offense. Look at his assists and how well the Knicks offense run with him running PG which was not happening when Melo was playing, though he did try to play as a point forward (didn't work out well).
