Thanks for the reply, it was very interesting. But in my opinion, I don't think that they will play Baron Davis over Jeremy Lin because at best Davis will play almost as good as Lin has been playing. I'm not saying he is the best player ever, he has many flaws like his defense and turn overs, but he is a very good player who has proven himself lately that he can continue to play well. Yes I do agree that he fits the spot like Courtney Lee did for Orlando, but I also think that he is playing at a higher level than Lee ever did. I think that his stats will drop when Carmelo comes back, but hopefully D'Antoni can figure out a system to keep both of the efficient and striving in his offense. This could be possible, but they can also clash and cause each other to perform badly and cause one of them to be traded. do you think that he can still perform with Melo back?
Ya he will definitely have more minutes than Davis but Davis will drop his minutes giving him equal minutes as most point guards. As for his performance when Melo comes back, I actually think they will increase. Carmelo is a small forward and Lin is a guard so I don't think his stats will drop (I mean like fg%) but ya he will get less points because Carmelo is a ball hog lol. I think he will continue 20+ with 1 steal every game or so and then drop to 15-17 points a game. His stats aren't that impressive.
Actually his stats aren't that impressive at all. He has proven not to use an outside shot and his free-throw % is like 78% which is OK. He doesn't give you blocks either. He's just giving them points, and because for the last 4 years I've been playing Fantasy Basketball, I like stats! To be a all-star player, to be a good player, you have to be proficient in another category than points. That's why most championship teams have players that are proficient in many categories.
For instance, last year the Mavs had one of the best outside shots, great clutch players, persistent players that bring it every game, and an energetic deep bench.
That's why If I was to make a team right now probably Lin would be the 20th pg I'd choose.
For instance, Ricky Rubio, who plays for the T-wolves, provides more Steals per game than turnovers and has proven to talk the talk about passing. ( "A shot made makes 1 man happy, a pass and the basket makes 2 man happy"-Rubio).
Summary: Lin Is a scorer and for me, that's not what I look for in a point guard. But it has proven to the Knicks to be important since they don't have scorers at this second. I'm sure that his stats will drop with Melo back, but his stats right now, to me, aren't even that impressive.
