Yeah, pretty much. I already explained it. lol

So the Yankees don't deserve to win because you simply dislike one guy on the team? There are many players on the Yankees who deserve to win. Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Mark Teixeira, Andy Pettitte, C.C Sabathia, Johnny Damon, Melky Cabrera, Hedeki Matsui, etc, etc, etc. They are a great team and there are many many many players who deserve to win. It's going to be wonderful to watch the Yankees win their 27th World Series Championship tonight. It has been a long time coming and any true baseball fan should be able to enjoy the World Series and baseball for what it is.

Did I ever say they didn't deserve to win?? No, they may very well deserve it, but that doesn't mean I have to want them to win. I'm not a Yankees fan, I'm never going to be, so I'm not going to enjoy it. I'm not going to care that much. Sure I'll be mad for about a minute, but then I won't care. And besides, if 9 years or whatever is "a long time coming" go look at when the Red Sox won or the White Sox won. THAT is a long time coming. 9 years is nothing in baseball.

Yeah, but the Yankees always got close during these past 9 years. Except last year when they didn't make it into the playoffs at all. Its different when you actually win the division or win the wild card spot and get really really really really close year after year just to lose it all. I can understand it being hard for the Red Soxs this year because they came close, but the Chicago White Soxs lol They didn't even make it into the playoffs. When you compare the Yankees and White Sox it's very very very different. White Soxs lost during the ALDS in 2008. In 2005 they won the World Series. And in 2000 they lost during the ALDS. Now lets compare that to what the Yankees have done these past years.

We know they didn't make it last year. In 2007 they lost during the ALDS. In 2006 they lost during the ALDS. In 2005 they lost during the ALDS. In 2004 they lost during the ALCS. In 2003 they lost the World Series. In 2002 they lost during the ALDS. In 2001 they lost the World Series. And in 2000 they won the World Series against the Mets. Yankees have come very very close just to lose during these past few years. Some of the other teams in the league didn't even come close to making the playoffs. I found last year to be a lot easier than any other year because at least there weren't any World Series expectations. I knew the Yankees weren't good enough to make it into the playoffs and I accepted it.

Thats why it's going to be nice to watch them win number 27 because for the past 9 years you knew they were a good team, but there was always a little something missing. Now this year they finally have everything working for them. Its great to see a team fight year after year after year after year and finally watch them succeed.

*I only read the first paragraph of your essay*
You obviously did not understand my comparison. I was comparing the number of years in bewteen World Series Championships... It took the Red Sox 86 years and the White Sox 88 years. THOSE were long waits for a championship, not 9 years. I understand what you were saying though. But I disagree about it being "hard". Ok, so the Yankees haven't won a WS in 9 years, that isn't hard. Try being a Cubs fan, honestly. Believe it or not it's a lot harder to not win a World Series in 100 years(the Cubs) than to go to the playoffs almost every year and be a contender for the WS every year also(the yankees). rolleyes

It probably is hard for teams like the Cubs, but I'd imagine it was just a little bit harder in 2008, 2007, and 2003 when they made it into the playoffs and got really close to the World Series, but didn't make it. Once a team makes it into the playoffs its completely different. Suddenly you have high expectations. Obviously if a team doesn't make it into the playoffs then its not as disappointing than if they had made it into the playoffs and lost. I mean, you pretty much know when your team won't make it into the playoffs like a week before the season ends, sometimes sooner. I'm sure its hard, but they probably don't take it too hard.

Can't wait to tune into ESPN after the Yankees win. I wonder what excuse they will come up with to explain why the Phillies lost. I wonder if they will even mention it. They will probably briefly dedicate like two seconds to the Yankees and then move onto Football. xd

ok, I do understand what you are saying, and you are probably right most of the time. But honestly, I enjoyed the 2008 White Sox season a lot more than the 2009 season and I would expect most Sox fans would agree with me. The reasons for that is because it was such a fight for the Sox to just get into the playoffs that year. It was awesome, I'll never forget the tiebreaker game. I pretty much knew they would lose to the Rays but I didn't care, making it to the playoffs was a achievement. Plus I was at the only game the White Sox won in that series. blaugh It was so sweet.

And oh yeah, lol, Swisher was on the 2008 team. But yeah, that's mostly the reason I hate him now. In 2008 he pissed me off so bad. He couldn't hit the side of a barn and when he was benched he complained like a little b***h. rolleyes I was so happy when he left.

I hate Swisher too. He hasn't done anything useful during this World Series. I wish we could choose which players received World Series rings and which players didn't. I wouldn't give him one if it came down to that lol He's just lucky he's on a team that was able to carry him into the World Series and win it. Some players just get lucky like that.

I watched the White Soxs win it in 2005. I watch the World Series every year no matter who the two teams are. It was great when they won it in 2005 though. I always root for the American League team that makes it to the World Series no matter what team it is. I'd rather see an American League team win the World Series than a National League team win it lol If the Red Sox or White Sox won every World Series for the next fifty years I'd be perfectly okay with that just because they are the American League team. biggrin

haha, I'm the opposite of you. I usually root for the National League team if the White Sox aren't in the World Series. I do that because I see all the American League teams as the Sox competition. The Sox rarely play National League teams so it's all good. The three times I didn't root for the National League team though was 2004, 2005, and 2006. I'm not very fond of the Cardinals.

An exciting Series this year. Found myself pulling for the Phillies. Probably because no matter how long the Yankees World Series drought goes on, I still don't like them.

Kudos to A-Rod. Although he spurned Seattle to play for the money, I've long forgiven him. I realized that if it were me, I'd do the same thing. If anyone on that team deserved a World Series ring, it was Rodriguez. Now, if he'd only get traded back to the M's to help Seattle get a Championship, that'd be nice. Okay, maybe not traded.

Jeter, Posada, Pettite, and Rivera all got their fifth rings together. Impressive. The Core Four they're called, despite Pettite playing for the Astros for a bit. Congrats to them, nonetheless.

Matsui gets MVP honors. Rumors are he'd like to play with Ichiro in Seattle, says FOX. Interesting. Don't know if he'd work out at Safeco. Havta look into it.

And just like that, baseball is over for another season. Time to turn on the Hot Stove!

"I can't even afford to pay my attention!"
So the Yanks win and Matsui got the World Series MVP honors. He didn't deserve but congrats to him and the Yanks. Well can't wait to see what the new season brings.

Congrats to the Yankees. Utley deserved that MVP, though. Nothing will change my mind about that. He was beyond exceptional. I hope my Red Sox manage to do some good things over the postseason. Until then, it is basketball and football. Woo~
