yankees win game 3
8-5 ugh Giadi sucky desions using Mo again now i dont think he is gonna pitch tonight?
It wasn't a bad decision. Mo only threw five pitches to get two outs. He's more than capable of pitching one inning tonight. It was a smart move. Girardi gave Phil Hughes a chance and he blew it. I don't know what's going on with Phil Hughes, but whatever it is he better figure it out. You can tell he has zero confidence in his stuff. If Girardi hadn't taken out Hughes when he did there still would have been fans second guessing his decision.
I feel bad for Joe Girardi, the guy never wins no matter what he does. Everybody hated the way Joe Torre managed during his last few years with the Yankees and demanded a manager who would be different than Joe Torre. Now that we have a manager who is different than Joe Torre there are fans who want Joe Girardi to manage the way Torre did. By keeping in pitchers who obviously have nothing. That doesn't make any sense to me. I guess if Joe Girardi sat on the bench the entire game and left in struggling pitchers during the World Series everybody would be okay with that? Really? I seriously doubt it.
It's the World Series and Joe Girardi is going to do what it takes to win. Imagine if Phil Hughes had given up another home run or something. I'm glad he took him out when he did. The last thing you want to do is give the Phillies a chance to come back. They have an explosive offense that is capable of making a comeback. The important thing is the Yankees won game three and that's all that matters at the end of the day.
biggrin well Mo needs some off game day for once seosuly if Giradi lets him do more 6 out saves Mo will be giving up blown saves like ******** '01 series!
Yankees won 7-4 and Mariano Rivera pitched during the ninth inning. He threw eight pitches to get three easy outs. I told you he would be able to pitch tonight after throwing only five pitches yesterday. All together that is only 13 pitches. Joe Girardi isn't going to over use Mariano Rivera and the only time he will use Rivera to get six outs is when it's really really really really really really necessary, which it was during game two. If he hadn't used Mariano Rivera to get six outs during the second game there is a very real possibility that the series could be 2-2 right now instead of 3-1. I don't know about you, but I like the fact that it's 3-1 in the Yankees favor. Especially with Cliff Lee pitching for the Phillies again today.
Even if the Yankees lose today the series will continue in New York on Wednesday with the Yankees up 3-2. That's the worst case scenario, which isn't too bad. The best case scenario would be for the Yankees to win game five and ultimately win the World Series. No matter how you look at it Girardi needed to use Mariano Rivera when he did. Especially with how atrocious our bullpen was during the first game when they gave up two runs in the eighth inning and then another two in the ninth.
