I actually think that Rugby is more entertaining. It's more hardnosed, physical, traditional, and has a greater history. Besides, I like watching it more.

I think football is watered down with its soft play, and so much down time.

american football (been playing because...well im in america - really i was not born in america)

but ive heard of rugby football before. it looks more rough than american football (no offense)...and more competitive too. my dad told me about it while we were watching that movie "Invictus" and one of the main characters was the captain (i think) of that rugby team in south africa smile

I probably prefer American football over rugby because it's less violent. (Also, might I mention that my boyfriend was a hot football fanatic? biggrin )

I've always been a huge fan of football. Don't see rugby much over here in the States, but the bit I have seen just never caught my interest.

And for those saying Rugby is more violent, it may be true but it's also safer in a sense than football BECAUSE they wear no pads/helmets. Many players get seriously hurt in football not just because of the hits put on them, but because of their helmets and pads that they wear.

Collegiate rugby studies have shown that those who play rugby in college suffer less injuries than their collegiate football playing counterparts. The rugby injury rates were comparable to those of soccer. Also many of the rugby injuries were just broken noses and scratches. Football players suffered broken bones, concussions, etc .

Here's a link to more info on this.

Rugby Union definately.

I played for the Service American Football team but I quite seriously only took the sport up because I wasn't hard enough to play Rugby,

That was four ribbit years ago, and id still says it's easily the case now.
Hello,

I like Rugby, only for watching, as we know that, "RUGBY, a type of football game, taking its name from the English public preparatory school. Derived from soccer or association football, Rugby in turn was the forerunner of American football. Kicking and dribbling with the foot are a part of Rugby; however, continuous passing of the ball is its most characteristic feature. The game enjoys its greatest popularity in Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and France. The amateur game, the main concern of this article, is played with 15 men on each team and is called "Rugby Union." The professional game is called "Rugby League," and although it resembles the amateur game in many respects, there are differences in the laws, or rules, and only 13 players on a team. The object of the game is for each side to attempt to ground the ball beyond their opponent's goal line and score the greater number of points within two 40-minute periods of play."

Thanks!
