Flying with Snowboard

I'm flying to Vancouver next month to snowboard and I'm going to take my snowboard with me. I've never traveled on a plane with my snowboard before, so I was wondering if anybody who has can give me some tips.

I bought this cheap bag online and it doesn't have any padding. sad There's a bit of space all throughout the bag with my board and boots inside.

Will it be okay if I just "pad" it with my snowboarding outfit?
How should I arrange everything?
Should I remove my bindings?

If anyone has traveled by plane with his/her snowboard before, I'd really like to hear about your experience! Thanks!
