I love fights like these, where you really have to put thought in to who will win or lose, instead of those one sided orly fights.

I still do say Pacquiao will win early-mid rounds (between 3-7) by TKO. Pacquiao does have power (his shot that dropped Hatton proves it a little too much) and will most likely be faster, much like in every other previous fight. Apperently Roach says it will be over in 1, so he probably has exposed one vital habit that Cotto has much like he exposed Hatton's inability to defend against hooks.

Cotto's chances will have to do if he can survive enough to the later rounds to come back hard. He has proven he can survive, and Pacquiao is not really a defenisve type so a well placed punch can rock him good. He's no Margarito, so he will feel that power if it reaches him. He might have to try to stay on him full time, but that might be dangerous to his chances itself. If Cotto does win, it would be from late round knockout (between 10-12) or very close Split/Majority Decision.

One factor here is that both fighters don't do well being cut. The last times Pacquiao got cut was when he lost to Morales by UD and his one point win over Marquez. If you remember the Cotto/Clottey fight, Cotto started losing the fight, and in some people's eyes did lose the fight, after a head butt in the 3rd caused a really bad gash over his left eye. The 116-111 for Cotto scorecard wasn't an accurate ruling either, but still.

You have a lot of point in this, but just to add something. I think roach talks a little confident when he said it will be over in 1, same goes with Cotto's coach that it wont last longer than 8. I think I'll go with Pacquiao's decision, he ain't over confident, right attitude, calm, not underestimating opponents.

To see it in birds eye view both fighters have there advantages and disadvantages, but I would say Manny has more of a say here, and since those 'cut' scenes during the Morales fights he has developed good dodging skills and some of the new, we have seen that with the other fights/matches he had after that of those friggin 'cut' matches. I just hope ''Cotto'' wont be a ''Cutt-o'' match. eek

Losses doesn't mean anything ... that's a number ... it is what comes from a lose ...that defines what a champion is ... if he loses ... he returns ... much better than before ...

and Pacquiao for the win ...
