I read the novel at 11 and loved it. The silent film, which is very true to the original story, is a classic and I would definitely recommend it. I was not impressed with the 2004 movie, although I love the Broadway musical - I've seen it once and would go again.

just wondering, who are everyone's favorite christines and eriks?

mine are, emmy rossum, sarah brightman, sierra boggess, gina beck. and for phantoms i'd say ramin karimloo, gerald butler, and joj.

also, i hope this isn't off topic, but what are your opinions on love never dies?

My friend played it on a road trip and I was ready to chuck it out the window. I'll probably give it another chance, but the loud volume and the fact that everyone insisted on trying to sing along... just no.

Ramin Karimloo is a real talent though, and quite handsome to boot.

I thought it was really good! My school did it for their musical because the rights were just released to schools, even though its on broadway still. During the masquerade scene, I walked on stilts!

I liked the musical with Michael Crawford. Gerard Butler is a good actor, but he's not really much of a singer.

Absolutely love the music! I still need to see the movie.

If the quality of the music influences your opinion of the movie I would skip it. Gerard Butler is a great actor and he did a good job in the movie, but the music of the movie wasn't very impressive.
