Why is SOPA supported?

I'm probably going to sound very ignorant...
However I feel like I've been getting I biased view of it so could someone please explain to me why something so hated by most people on the internet has been supported by some as well.

Why is it even being considered if it is so bad? stressed
Are they actually any positives?


Furthermore, if this is going to affect those outside the US, like me, what can we do about it?
I feel a bit helpless and I'm probably not the only one.

well there is alot of people who suffer from the internet and somehow they wish if it doesn't exist, because of piracy, so they have the right to support SOPA

People support sopa because its an idea to prevent cyber theft and piracy. However it doesn't stop there, and has a huge potential for damage and abuse, which is why most Internet users see it as a problem.
