Dangerous Prophet

Obviously, I'm not for this blatant act of online censorship. Especially given the extreme ease of abuse it enables. It's no lie to say that SOPA could very well be the end of the Internet as we know it.

However, what can the US citizenry honestly do about this?

Really, does anyone know?

Do you think talking to a congressman or senator will change their mind? I'm of the opinion that they'll act in whatever way serves them. Obviously there's a lot of hollywood and media backing for SOPA, which means a lot of money in 'gifts' and 'charitable donations'

Don't tell me that doesn't happen.

I don't think that Senator Chesterton Wimbletrot the third is really going to get off his posh, solid gold throne to even bother reading our anti-SOPA mail, after all. Heck, he probably hasn't even read the bill; Which leads me back to our title:

Is there anything the US Citizenry can do on our own, independent of our lawmakers, who (obviously) don't give a flying ******** what happens to us?

What alternative forms of action are there?
Do you believe spamming the crap out of our legislative officials will really work? Why?
Am I just overtly Pessimistic, or are you Overtly Optimistic?
