Not necessarily: The woman in question promotes policies which are known to be harmful to women and girls (and I personally suspect he picked her specifically to play Racism vs. Sexism) and made statements to the effect that her husband was 'allowing' her to be a politician. Despite running as a Vice Presidential candidate, she was still promoting an image of herself as a dutiful housewife. In general, women in conservative circles gain power by cutting down other women.
I don't see what conservative women would gain by doing so. But I agree that Palin was a bit of a fail. ^^
There are very few positions of power open to women and these are typically held for women; it is a system which rewards aggression.
The system in general rewards aggression. Do women have a lower status because they are not aggressive enough?
I'm not sure that the system in general is a thing.
