Now, this isn't a religious discussion. I'm talking about what you personally think constitutes something in a negative light that would cause you distress if you witness or perform the act in question.

Example:

In the film (and novel) A Clockwork Orange, the main character, Alex, undergoes a procedure that causes him physical pain and unbearable nausea when he witnesses or thinks of causing harm to others. During the procedure (which involves administering a drug and showing him horrible acts of violence) the administers play a musical accompaniment, Beethoven (Ludwig Van, our little Alex calls him.) Alex loves Beethoven; classical music gives Alex the utmost pleasure and is one of, if not, THE thing, he loves most.

Once the drug starts taking effect, Alex screams and pleads with the administers that "Its a sin!" to play Beethoven in conjunction with such violence and while he's in pain. The administers do nothing about it.

SO, in light of this, what do YOU consider to be a sin? What causes you physical (or mental) anguish? What makes your blood boil or raises your voice?
Generalised stupidity

Wasted potential.

There are few things sadder then watching someone with a bright light and that has so much to offer the world just let that light fade. It really gets me how many people I know that could do so much- have so much potential- but squander it.
Unnecessary unhappiness.

I'm guilty of this...my damned introvertedness.

I'm a person who went to college, had fun at first, then realized I couldn't make much money doing what I went for my degree. I got stuck with $20,000+ in student loans, a degree, and no local jobs that either require experience or don't pay as much or less (hours wise) than my current job.

I know its no excuse that I DON'T want to get paid less to do something in my field but I worry about the future. Since I started paying student loans, my savings has stayed where it is. Hasn't gone up in two years, save the interest I get from my credit union. xp
Regressed truth.

Overly denying a fact due to own beliefs, and getting angry at the person who points it out.

I agree with you. I hate when you point out facts that prove something did or didn't actually happen and someone just denies everything you said.

A former coworker of mine didn't believe dinosaurs were millions of years old. And it wasn't a religious thing, either. eek
Harming another. I believe that your rights end where another person's rights begin. As long as your pursuit of happiness doesn't hurt someone else, you're ok in my book.
If there's any sin great enough to be repeated again and again, it's the tendency of nature to favor those anthropocentric egotists who care for their fellow humans, as long as there's a buck in it for them. Women favor them too, meaning their genetic material gets replicated, making (wouldn't ya know it) more ego for everyone. Meanwhile, those who are more conscious of human needs are decried as pushovers and, for fear of being ostracized and developing the eternal blue ball, they adapt their behavior to that of the profusely breeding anthropocentrists.

Oh yeah, and we can't forget sin #2: acting as if it doesn't matter.
Anything that spreads the world being a worse place, such as how the experiment on how impressionable children are how people beat up a toy clown the kids are let into the room and mock the grown up behavior. So the more badness is accepted the more it spreads, the more its done the more it spreads, that is a sin.
If you ruin a relationship or hurt some one emotionally, that is the ultimate sin in my mind.

Doing something bad; or knowing something is bad, and doing nothing about it. ninja
Uninhibited desire (greed, gluttony, lust), proclaiming it as good and doing anything, even harm to another being, in order to satiate oneself.
