Whoa... the rarest of women. Not blowing smoke. INTJ is the most uncommon personality type... and female INTJs are uber rare.

I always heard INFJ were the rarest type

I'd say you're right on pure numbers. Still, if you take gender into account then I believe it's a female INTJ that's the most uncommon.

5 Rarest Type (Gender Not Taken into Account):
INFJ 2%
INTJ 3%
ENTJ 3.5%
ENTP 3.5%
ENFJ 3.5%

Curiously enough, the INTJ and ENTJ personality types are the fourth most common here on this particular website, on this particular thread, according to the poll.
I myself am an INTJ dominant, and I also know several INTJs (both male and female) personally.
I would take into account that not everyone gets quite an accurate reading, seeing as the myers-briggs is used more as a reference. I have gotten both the ISTJ and INTJ results myself. I have taken the myers-briggs test many times, to try to see which result came up more often. I have found that 53% of the time, I receive the INTJ result. Therefore I simply say I am INTJ dominant and ISTJ recessive.

If you take into account the circumstances, you shouldn't be all that surprised of a biased sample. The internet... geeky topic... intellectual curiosity... the people who end up taking the test will have a definite leaning. I doubt the tree hugging, touchy-feely types share that 'geeky elitest' thing. I'm guessing it's more common in NTs.

I suppose (unlike a solid INTJ) you give a s**t about those around you. It seems to me that your S/N cusp score takes into account your understanding of people around you... not just yourself. My cusp score (I am an ENTP) is the T/F variable. It bothers me that I'm close to an emotional type... my shame eats away at me in the night. ;]

Yes, I know. I wasn't shocked, according to circumstances. I was simply faintly amused that although only 1-4% of the population are INTJs, it is the fourth most common according to this particular poll.

On the contrary, I don't often give a ********. There are, frankly, only two people I have any emotional attachment to, one of those being my younger sister and the other being my best friend. I believe the difference between myself and a solid INTJ is that I don't rely solely on my intuition and use evidence and facts as solid proof. I don't believe intuition is enough if there is no proof supporting it. Ns tend to focus on the abstract, while Ss tend to focus on the concrete. Neither the INTJ or ISTJ are very fond of showing emotion, and the ISTJ tends to be more rational when it comes to human interactions than INTJs. I do understand people, but only from an objectively psychological view. You know, "because of this, they feel this way. This makes sense." razz
Ah, an ENTP/ENFP. Quite curious. I've rarely known anyone who gets mixed results with Thinking and Feeling.

Think about it... a rational, analytical, non-touch-feely female? That's the opposite of the female stereotype. I'm not sure how 'special' it is really... it'd be a tough character type for a female. Guys tend to want pretty little things they can play with... not a mastermid. Gonna be kinda tough to find a guy that an INTJ female feels is up to the task... not insecure at all, I'd guess.

Toward Tea Cup, the INTJ personality type is the second rarest type (1-4% of the population). Now consider that there are far more male INTJs than there are female. So yes it is that rare.
Toward Slef-Esteem-Death, you are entirely right. The typical female is emotional to varying degrees, while INTJs tend to dislike over-emotionality and also keep their emotions to themselves. and that is only comparing one trait. Also, INTJs tend to look for others with similar traits, which, statistically speaking, is both easy and difficult. On the one hand, INTJs are rare. On the other, there are more male INTJs than female, therefore there would statistically be a surplus of male INTJs, allowing the females "wiggle room", so to speak, to pick and choose their partner. But of course statistics are statistics and can be wrong. You'd have to calculate the number of INTJ males and INTJ females where ever one lives, and then take the population size of males/females and the population size of the area and figure out statistically the chances one would meet an INTJ of the opposite (or same, depending on orientation) sex. In my own city, the chances are 9585.15 out of 608,660. Then think of the percentage of that number that is in your age group, then the percentage of that percentage which carries the physical traits you find appealing, and that number decreases even more.

I first heard of this test in grade nine or something. I'm in university now and probably taken it 5 times. It's given me INTJ every time except one, where I got ISTJ. INTJ is relatively accurate, though I'm supposed to be exceptionally decisive which isn't true at all.

Either way, take it with a grain of salt.

edit: Reading all the posts above make me wonder what my boyfriend's score is. I'm pretty sure just by knowing him he's landslide INTJ. Gotta send him this link.... XD

When talking about Psychological Testing... try to avoid the word 'score'. You can't fail the MBTI or even an IQ test... but people get weierd about their scores...

"ISTP - "Engineer". Values freedom of action and following interests and impulses. Independent, concise in speech, master of tools. 5.4% of total population."

Sweet. I already knew I enjoyed engineering in a sense.
